Gut Reactions: Packers fall to 49ers

Aaron gives his gut reactions to the season-ending loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

  • Hate to see an opportunity squandered.
  • Too many missed chances.
  • Maybe that's why you don't draft kickers.
  • Other than that missed kick, pretty great showing by special teams.
  • Jordan played a decent game, tough ending. No way he should make that final throw.
  • Kenny Clark was outstanding today.
  • Darnell Savage was less so.
  • When the Niners got the ball at the end, you knew Joe Barry would let them walk down the field.
  • I can't get over those early missed chances in the red zone.
  • Great work by Bo Melton to bring in that TD.
  • Tough spot for Nijman to come in and take on Bosa.
  • Tonight is tough. but the future is bright in Titletown.
  • Go Pack Go.

Brutal when you were the better team for 45 minutes and have a 3-phase meltdown in the 4th quarter. To the 49ers of all teams. Yeah.

I'm still very excited about the team's future. This was way more than anyone expected. But win the damn game.

I'll get back on the "the future is bright in Green Bay" train tomorrow, because it is. But it's not like we were blown out by a team that by all rights could and should have blown us out. I'd feel better about that kind of loss in this circumstance.

Texans fans get to look at their game earlier today and say that it wasn't ever going to ever be their year but they have a great foundation to build on. For the next 24 hours I can only see a missed opportunity in a long line of missed opportunities.

Forget playing with house money -

This loss hurts because the PACKERS WERE BETTER than the 49ers tonight.

More scoring opportunities

the Pack led most of the 2nd half on the road to a favored team.

The Pack led til 1 minute left in the game

The Pack was 1st team to score 20 points.

The defense played well enough to win.

Love completely choked. THATS WHAT HAPPENED

Late in the 3rd and all 4rth he fell apart.

La Fleur seems to be a three quarters coach. Have to convert the red zone chances to TDs, not FGs. Savage did not come to play, making the Big Plays define a playoff win. Again, 3rd and ONE comes back to haunt this team. The Love shove is ludicrous. Watson was triple covered, and he makes a Favre throw into traffic. Carlson is not clutch. A lot of moving parts...

Great future for this team. Love will learn, the receivers and tight ends will be more experienced, Barry will be fired and Carlson will be acknowledged as not part of the process. No one, and I mean no one expected the Packers to go this far, let alone almost beat the Niners. They were playing with house money. Thank you for a great season and getting us to know all these rookies. The Niners will not be the same next year due to their cap space.

That is a good offense but in the end the Barry D gave way pretty much in the ways expected. Had the O converted a number of opportunities, that wouldn’t matter on the night, but if we want to get meaningfully better, we need a different DC.

When Purdy escaped the pocket pressure on 3rd and 10 in the fourth qtr. the game was lost. Rinse and repeat defense as per putting the game away. They need a speed rusher. On McCaffrey's final TD, Walker and Campbell both jumped the wrong gap, letting him walk in for the score.

Packers playing with house money put up a great fight. Still hard to see them lose that game, but draft a couple talented guys to add to the mix and keep the arrow pointing up!

People are going to rip the defense, but Packers possessions after going up 21-14: INT, (3 and out) Punt, Missed FG, INT
Does Joe Barry come back? In a non-Groundhog Day world, I'd say yes. But he's shown his inconsistencies year after year. They can do better.

Unfortunately, no one executed in the 4th quarter. Love did not play well at all after that last touchdown drive, the line fell apart, the entire defense was out of sync and got ROASTED on that touchdown run by CMC and to finish it off, Carlson missed another kick. Can't have all of that happen in the 4th quarter of a one score game and expect to come away with a W.

I'm good with the defense tonight.
My impression is that they didn't go passive, and that they had a lot of fight.
It seemed Barry was mixing in blitzes.
The 49ers are the top seed in the NFC, after all, and the defense played hard and smart.

I agree. I thought the packers played well. Yes, some missed opportunities. Love was responsible for both INTs, and he also didn't go low enough on the 4th and one. The missed FG. The D missed a few assignments on some plays, and in the 4th quarter had trouble tackling McCaffrey like about 17 other teams this year. I don't think this was on Barry at all. The D made it tough on Purdy. Tough loss, but I think they outplayed the 49ers if you look at the whole game. Sometimes, just enough at the right time is the difference than outplaying your opponent.

You can only go as low as your OL on the tush push.

The QB is literally sandwiched between his OL and the skill position guys pushing. It's a wonder there aren't more QB injuries out of that mess...

Actuallly, thrilled would have been holding them to 17, which is what I predicted was necessary in order to beat them. SF lost 5 games this year and they were held to 17 or under in all of them. If our D just had one more good series in them the score for SF would’ve been 17 and GB wins. Damn.

Incredible game. Tough ending, would have been amazing to win, but a team this young leading the class of the NFC (and it’s not even close) into the 4th quarter is nothing to be ashamed of.

No one expected this team to play this well at the end of the season. No one expected Jordan Love to be this good (certain commenters on this blog WANT him to be much worse than he is). As Aaron said, the future looks bright for the next 10-15 years. We didn’t get to the promised land this year. That was never the expectation. I see Lombardi trophies in this team’s future, which I never did from 2015 until the recent past.

Rrrrr.
Tough way to lose a game with an unforced error of an interception thrown across the body into the middle of the field, with three defenders around our wide receiver. Maybe Love having to throw across his body kept him from getting enough oomph and enough loft on the pass.
I had good hope of an attempt at a tying field goal, and even was hoping for a winning touchdown, perhaps by trying a long pass.
Rrrrr.

Lots of good things in this game, with lots of contributors.

That came to my mind, too, but it's much more understandable from a QB in his first playoff season.
I wonder if Love was trying to throw over the defenders of the 49ers to Watson, but having to throw across his body caused him to yank the pass low, and without much zip.
Still, it was so easy to throw it out of bounds with enough time and more downs with which to work.
Rrrrr.
Tomorrow, after recovering from the hurt, it seems there will be a lot to like in Love's performance tonight.
For now, mostly rrrrr.

Love could have taken off and run with the ball on a couple short yardage situations with the 49rs in max coverage. When Zach Tom left the game the right flank was compromised. The team needs a true Fullback to crack down in Pass Pro.

The 4th and 1 and obviously the missed FG resulted in 6 points. The lack of 4th quarter offense turned a win into another loss to the 49ers.

WE bring Barry back then we will continue to fall short. if MLF won't accept that then we have problems. Carlson is not the answer and he did tonight as he has done all season. As the game got tighter and the pressure got higher Jordan Love appeared to sink under it. Whether that is due to lack of experience or lack of temperament I'm not sure. By contrast as the game got tighter Purdy appeared to get better. This year was good but there is much to be done if next year is to be better.

I posted on the Watch Party chat before the game "is it too late to sign Crosbey for the game" and I got 2 thumbs down!! I don't know what you objected to but would you at least have the courtesy to remove the thumbs downs. It was not a joke post. This team has a history of messing up by allowing bad players and/or coaches to continue in their roles and it has cost us DEARLY over the years.

So the future looks very bright and the season will be considered a success. And the loss isn't all on Carleson. But something is wrong with a coaching staff that goes into this type of game with the worst kicker in the league on your team. Who gets the blame for that? Even with a good team, getting this far isn't easy. It's a real shame to waste it on stupidity and/or pride.

I was prepared for a bad loss and that wouldn't bother me as much. I knew a close loss would hurt more. So I'll be sad for a bit.
Still some big decisions to be made off season.

Thumbs up from me, pacman.
It is a good point about the kicker, but it seems harsh to call going with Carlson a matter of "stupidity" or "pride."
I was highly reluctant to move on from such a clutch kicker as Crosby, but it was a tough call.
Whether or not to move on from Carlson during the season was another tough call.
It didn't work out all that well, though, and the coaches do have to accept responsibility.

Carlson was terrible in college. One of the worst kickers in college and we took him? Like were going to spend time teaching how to kick versus just finding a decent kicker?

We do not have a tush push. Many will ride Carlson's missed kick, but Savage is far and above today's scapegoat.

Enjoyed the ride, but knew we would lose as TV showed 1st half T.O.P. GB having it for 9:11, and then clock stopped at 1:19 before half.

When I see 911 numbers, unfortunate things happen. This phenomenon is not malicious toward me, but acts like a warning that disappointment / something bad will soon occur.

Barry Ball at its finest, all night long the DBs played deep, and how many blitzes did we see?
I'm proud of what this young team accomplished and happy with the season as a a whole. The future looks bright!
At the same time I'm pissed that they had the 9ers on the ropes and couldn't supply the knockout punch.
Love did not have his best game, nor did Purdy, but the 9ers 'D' got their interceptions and the Packers should have caught the ones thrown to them.
Good luck everyone, have a good off-season, and I'll keep my Eastern windows open.

Carlson obviously is not the answer at kicker. But when the Packers outplayed the 9ers for three quarters one's hopes get raised and of course you know they will only be dashed as Love seemed to find his October self for the last 12 minutes. But why would they tush push Love instead of giving the ball to Jones? tell me why? and you just knew that the D would not stop that last drive. Still who would have thunk that this team could almost have made it to the title game. There is good reason to be optimistic for next year IF they can part ways with JB

It’s really easy to blame the kicker but watch those snaps. Orzech has got to be the wildest LS in the league. The hold on one of them seemed less than ideal probably due to Whelan having to rush to get the ball down in wet weather.

They call them running backs for a reason, use them. The inside of the O line has to do a better job and LaFleur's choice of plays has to improve. The 3rd-4th and ONE failures to convert haunted this team all through the season(s).

I'm proud of GB, but that doesn't make it hurt any less.

Yet again, GB finds a way to shoot themselves in the foot and give a winnable game away. I said earlier this season that the Packers would lose between 5-6 winnable games because of Love throwing an interception, the defense crumbling, the kicker missing a FG, etc. Little did I know those were all going to happen in the 4th quarter of the biggest game of the year. It has to be the 49ers. It always is. It's amazing, have two teams ever played each other 5 times in 11 years? I'm in awe. So many things went wrong for GB and so many things went right for SF. Typical Packers and typical heartbreak.

With that rant out of the way, I will say once again that I am proud of the team and everything that they have accomplished this year. There are so many things to be excited about moving forward and I can't wait until the draft to see if we can shore up the O-line and revamp our secondary.

Thank you for one hell of a season GB.

The Pack played a great game. What sucks is that kickers are paid to make kicks. In the biggest game of his life, Carlson chokes his kick to the left which he has done all too often this year. I don't know whether to cut him or keep him. {too ticked off right now}. But this pattern all year of missing XPs and FGs has got to change. Despite the inaccuracies, we are proud of the Pack's showing in this tight national TV game (not on Peacock-another joke). The 2024 season has much to look forward to!

Much better season than I expected. The offense is going to be tough in the future.

Love needs some more work on comeback drives. But he is a keeper.
\
Defense couldn't close out the game. How many third and long were there. What happened is common thread with Barry. Didn't change up anything in the 4th quarter. And they score with not enough time left.

I'm through with Barry.

Not really. Love throw 2 INTs. The packers had 2 INTs in their hands and couldn't reel em in. Not converting that 4th down at the doorstep of the endzone. Those were as much of game change.

More than I ever expected out of this season. It took our mistakes to allow the forty niners to win tonight, two dropped picks, missed fg( I believe I said back in week six that the kicking game would cost us some day, well welcome to some day. The loss of Zach Tom hurt.Offense wasnt the same afterwards Theres some guys on the back end that can'not and did not tackle Missed chances in the red zone This being said, im happy, we have our quarterback, weve got half a dozen receivers and two great tight ends O line needs.a little work, but is better than the start of the year. Defense starts improving as Barry packs his shit FUTURES SO BRIGHT, WE GOTTA WEAR SHADES! GOPACKGO!

Tough loss:

1) Love got us further than either Favre or Rodgers in his first season to start. Still a tough game for him.
2) MLF, Barry definitely needs to go immediately. Period! To many quality D_Coord available to replace this powder-puff scheme!
3) Still need much help. Draft/FA needs: quality Center/Guard/(Tackle), quality backup RB, best available D help.... safety, DB, stout/nasty D-linemen/LBs Don't just draft lineman and LB based on RAS... sure tacklers with nastiness.
4) Let Bak go with the best cap move we can financially accept. Pull the band aid off.

Yes, we need to cut him, just like the Vikings cut his brother.............

Three easy non-INT opportunities, our lame passive D, missed tackle after, missed tackle, poor offensive execution at key moments, and (once again) poor referees were the major reason we lost.

1. I love the coach of the niners. Purday is off and doesnt have it so he goes to play action, short passes, lots of runs.
Thus he changed up on the fly, in a playoff game to adapt to the players and the weather. In the end he won because he adjusted accordingly. Bravo to him.
2. LeFluer went for the juggler against Dallas with medium passes to the middle of the field and lots of receivers gettins open. Today, his game was weak on offense. On one three an out if was a two yard screen. A run for no gain, and an incomplete pass, time to punt. Thats what a team does when they are ahead with one minute to go.
I still see LeFlure influence on Love and Rodgers: play to not lose, dont play to win and take chances.
3. Barrys D again was lacking. It was time to take a stand and prevent the niners from getting into the end zone and we had zero take aways, poor tackling, guys wide open with no one near them. It sucked. We had this game but for Barry.

Ofcourse like everyone here little bummed by today's result by how close this team came to winning against the Top seed team in their own back yard which this team had a very poor record against in the playoffs in the recent memory.

The team should held their heads high. The Coaching staff esply Matt then Love, the wr's and Oline every body stepped up when needed. Never have i ever thought that we'll go to Divisional rd in the very first yr with Love under center and how this record looked unachievable in the middle of the season to where this team has come to. Wow just no words.

Mind you this team will only get better and that part really excites me. Lets raise the curtains for our SB window.
With Love under center the SB is not very far for this team

I JUST WANT TO SAY ,one thing that's very important!! Times have surely changed. Coaches aren't dictators authoritarian like the great hc & gm like Lombardi was!! Lombardi would have got rid of that kicker weeks ago! He would have probably slapped his face and kicked his all over the side line. Remember Lombardi was also gm,Lombardi would've sacked that wanker tomorrow, and use another pick next draft! I understand why Lafleur went with the qb sneak to get 1st down,he didn't trust the walker!! Dont know how you all reason, for me he's the photocopy of Crosby! Yes him, he cost packers many games in hi career! Yes he also won some 4 us,but he was a wanker just like him. I'm amazed about Joe Barry, seems to understand how to play,no? Perhaps watching film he understood his mistakes! Anyway ,don't think we could have got past Baltimore, Sf in sb against ravens, think they'll get beat even better than Last time. We have many good things to look forward for next year. We are a good team , next year without a banged up team , we have a chance. Sorry I cant forgive that wanker.!!!!

Im assuming you are either A) shit hammered during this diatribe, or B) you are a Bears fan. Mason Crosby is the all time leading scorer on this team, as a younger kicker, he was incredible in pressure situations. See the playoff game against the cowboys, he nailed a 50 plus yard field goal TWICE , since the cowboys iced him with a time out; Carlson has accuracy issues that must be addressed. Look for the Pack to have a few kickers in to compete with him during the preseason.

Bottom line is Defense is still the unsolved weakness. Played well until we really, really needed a stop and then just folded.

Carlson has struggled at odd times. Seemed to have problems with “shorter” kicks including extra points. In the end, he hurt us. It’s a rookie kicker so do they stick with him or cut loose. Whether they say it or not they have a decision to make.

Love missed some throws tonight. Put us in a spot to win but undone by defense and kicker. We all know you can’t make that last throw. Hopefully with more Coaching and experience that gets fixed.

The good news is we have a solid foundation to build upon. Lots of draft capital. We are going to be back. Keep the faith.

We should be grateful for the fantastic season the Packers delivered. I can recall no one either here or in other media who predicted the Packers would win a playoff game and take the number one seed down to the wire in the divisional round. Now that that's out of the way....

This stings pretty badly. It was a winnable game, and we just didn't.

Outstanding game from Aaron Jones.

Savage won't be with us next season, so there's no point in talking about him anymore.

Hopefully we can say the same about Carlson, and I don't care about his brother. Any kicker unreliable from short ranges can't be trusted. Gute is pretty good at finding quality UDFAs, so I think he should be expanding his search in the kicker department.

The defense kept us hanging in there for much of the game, but they were unsuccessful at moving Purdy from his spot; he was only sacked once.

Now to the end: Jordan Love has dazzled in the second half of the season, but he fizzled in the late stages of this game with inaccuracy and that god-awful decision on the final play--on first down no less! He's leaving his feet to throw a sidearm pass into what looked like triple coverage with 52 seconds left at his own 36; once again, on first down! Jordan Love is a young player, but he's not a rookie, and a play like that is just downright air-headed and totally lacking in situational awareness. You really can't excuse something like that, and it's something the coaches will have to get corrected so he has the proper mindset in clutch circumstances. I have full confidence that it will get done.

Once again, thank you Packers for a season beyond expectations. The transition from the Rodgers offense to the Love offense was remarkably successful. I'm still amazed by how fast some of our rookie WRs and TEs grew.

The one hurts, we had our chances and failed to deliver.

1. Carson has one job to do and he failed tonight. It will be a long summer for him and he will expect competition
next year.

2. Love has not learned from his early season mistakes when the game is on the line. He had 3 major errors in
the 4th quarter and it affected the outcome of the game.

a. The pass to Kraft that was intercepted was a bad pass.
b. The last drive with 2 timeouts and plenty of time on the clock you NEVER NEVER throw across your body.
c. The 3rd down pass to Jones needs to be executed to move the chains.

3. I believe Matt made some conservative play calling on the drive that we missed the field goal. We score TD we
win.

4. Thought the Defense played well enough tonight to win, Joe Barry blitz more tonight and he should have had 2
interceptions early on in the game. The 49ers made big plays when it counted and that's what great teams do.

5. The 3rd and 4th down in the 1st quarter we need to be better, but the referee should have called an off side
on the play. You will see the still photo on the internet just to add to our pain.

6. The future is bright for this young Packer team and I look forward to what they do this offseason.

High school kids often make 40 yard field goals and extra points. Most college kickers do, especially the ones good enough to get drafted. If you're one of the exclusive group getting paid a bunch to kick, I feel like it shouldn't be such an adventure. Also, long snapping. Jesus

Gut reactions-
Positive side:
Players played hard, LeFleur had them mentally ready to play. Didn't see lots of mental errors like early in the season.
Negative side:
Missed tackles, missed FG, absence of big play on offense and defense in 4th quarter.
Disappointing side-
The negatives were reoccurrences of early season problems happening at the exact wrong time.
Overall-
Fill obvious holes in roster through draft and wiser use of free agency. Salary Cap problems are becoming manageable for the future, don't mess up and start overspending again.
Wish list-
A new defensive approach. Competition at kicker. More depth at Running Back. Upgrade safety with some guys who can tackle consistently.

Darnell Savage had a bad game - business decision made on the first McCaffrey TD (chop block technique) and blown coverage on the Kittle TD...... added to the dropped INT.

Owens made the same chop block technique attempt on McCaffrey's 2nd TD - with the same result.

Whomever is teaching that tackling technique needs to be shown the door.

Other than those event's the rest of the D played a very good game.

Before people load up on the D, people need to acknowledge that the 49ers aren't the Bears, and they are going to score points.

Whoever taught that tackling technique is probably in college or hs because there isn’t enough padded practice time in the pros. Gotta draft guys who have shown they can tackle. Drafting dudes with high RAS scores and hoping they develop tackling and other football skills may not be the best approach.

I don’t want to be a chump on this. To start the season I said that I thought Love was a poor pick and that he would barely be serviceable. I was flat out wrong. I wanted to at least own up to being wrong.

As for the game I’m beyond heartbroken. It’s one thing to have the Niners rush for damn near 300 yards it’s a whole other thing for the game to come down to the things it did. I’m surprised the Packers tried the stupid tush push with 3 interior down linemen head up and outside of the Center. MLF knew points would be at a premium. Even so the spot on that play was flat out wrong. Not biased but objectively it was incorrect. The other piece I’m really pissed about was Mccaffreys first touchdown of 39 yards. The play clock hit zero for easily a two count. That play should’ve been blown dead and moved back five yards.

Lastly, why the hell does Joe Barry run zone all game long except on the first TD to Kittle, continue having success with zone, run man and give up a huge chunk play to Kittle, succeed with zone some more then when the game is on the line call man as SF walks down the field? I understand the man did some good things to end the season but too little too late I really hope he didn’t earn his job back with the end of the season. He did the same thing last season where the last 4-5 games were great defensively and he kept his job. If the man needs 3/4 of a season to figure out how to utilize his pieces properly he’s just not meant to run a defense in a results driven industry.

MLF has 2 glaring weakness. He challenges plays that he shouldn't, and he gets greedy instead of taking points - especially early in games. Had he kicked the FG on 4th and a long 1 (and Carlson had made it which obviously wasn't a sure thing either), we would have had a 9-7 lead at halftime. With everything else as it was, would have meant SF tied the game at the end, instead of taking the 3 pt lead. Luckily his only challenge in this game paid off with a better spot.

Shame that Love's last pass was a terrible decision on 3rd and 2, with 3 timeouts and 40+ seconds left in the game. Hopefully he has a short memory. After playing very well for the most part of 3 quarters, he wasn't nearly as sharp with the game on the line in the 4th quarter.

All of that being said, I'm so very proud of our guys. This team over-achieved tremendously through the last part of season and playoffs. Hopefully we keep Jones for the foreseeable future. On to 2024/2025 season! Go Pack go! :)

I was certain Love is better (much better) than Purdy…and he is/was.
How Purdy was considered an mvp candidate is a mystery, he should have had four INTs tonight and didn’t deserve a victory.
I’m tired of the 9’rs, Lynch, Shanahan, and there duma$$ fans.
We outplayed them…and they all know it.

Not sure the fourth down spot was terrrible, but it shouldn’t have happened. The second down play was a first down not third and one.Clearly at the line or within a foot or so. The third down play was a half yard gain not a half yard loss which would have been enough for first down it previous play was correctly marked and even as marked on fourth had the third down play been marked correctly it would have been a first down.

However, SF was lined up offsides on both third and fourth down but NFL doesn’t want 10 point leads that early so no call. In summary, it took three bad marks in a row and two uncalled offsides penalties to make GB 2 inches short.

My takes:
The Packers outplayed the 49ers
Love is much better than Purdy
Our WRs are fantastic blockers
The injuries to Enagbare and Wyatt were huge; during the fourth quarter our front seven looked totally gassed.
Aaron Jones is unbelievably valuable—however—I think we’ll pick up at least two quality RBs in this draft
If we had two slightly above average safeties, we’d have won this game—we’ll pick at least two in the draft AND add a free agent.
Rashad Gary is a shell of himself the past month or more—has he been playing injured?
Tremendous growth this year. GPG!

Tough loss. The Packers played a great until the 4th quarter. I thought they played tough physical football on both sides of the OL.

Carlson's missed FG was a huge miss on that game. Especially after the great run by Aaron Jones to get the Packers out from their own 10 yard line and into 49ers territory. Love had a good game until the 4th and then he made some really bad throws. The Packers defense dropped two picks. In a game this close those are big plays. Numerous missed chances in this game. At least the Packers hung in with probably the best team in league.

Rough ending to a fun season, but plenty to be positive about going forward. Go Pack Go. Thanks, Since '61

My gut reaction is along with some of things mentioned

- missed easy INTs. One should have been pick 6.
- Love had some bad throws. One for INT and just missing wide open guys
- The stupid kicking experiment.
-- I said before the season that guy was going to cost a couple of games. I did not realize it would contribute to playoff loss.
-- Next year, it's same stupid experiment continues because the kid's brother is good and some team gave up too early on him.

Very disappointing loss due to those reasons.

My prediction, JB stays.

-Doubs becomes a "Big Game" player, hope it continues with year 3 coming up.
-Reed is already the real deal, Musgrave, Kraft, Wicks all very close and will be.
-Melton is intriguing as all hell.
-I'm glad Love wants to throw first and run second, but he doesn't seem to have a clue when to just take off and move the chains.Terrible decision/throw to end it.
-Aaron Jones, the guy just defines what an NFL player is and he did again yesterday.
-The OL, just flat out impressive.

-I'd almost rather see this O in third and 10 than third and 1.
-Seemed to relax after taking the lead...Kittle...McCaffrey...score.
-Total waste of Jones big run from their own 10 yard line.
-Carlson's play speaks for itself.
-S.O.S. allowing the Niners to walk down the field on their last drive.

Nobody expected them to even make the playoffs, let alone throttle Dallas
on the road, but they did, so you think they can beat the Niners on the road
and they could have. Waitress, I guess I'll just have the usual blown opportunity.

Jordan Love deserved a full season to prove himself. His play got more consistent. Looks promising. This receiving group has great potential. How many players will they lose? I still don't think this coaching regime has what it takes for this team togo the distance, let 'em prove me wrong, I'd be happy to admit I was.

Couple of good playoff games today.

I would like to add some observations on points many of you pointed out.

First - Mason Crosby missed only FG he kicked for Giants from 38 yards (kick wa short!!!!)! The last FG Mason Crosby scored for Packers was 40 yards FG. As I remember correctly his kick was so bad that Packers was lucky the ball bump on the horizontal crossbar and luckily bent over it for FG. Mason Crosby's kick-offs late last season was between 20 and 10 yards lines of opponent field. You'll trust that kind of kicker to make clutch kicks? Doubt.

Btw, regarding FGs - 49ers kicker also missed one! More to that, his FG was blocked!

I was not pleased with MLF game plan regarding pass. I'm also convinced that Packers needed to run the ball more. Yes, there was few stops on line on scrimmage or behind, but all succesful runs came htrough the middle of the line or wide out. combination of those two was the most succesful through the whole game. Pass plan was so conservative that looks to me like the plans MLF had at the beginning of the season. He put scared plan for capable receivers group. Also, he did not take the chance to gain advantage from run to pass and vice versa.

I knew that game is lost after last punt, as Barry again call preventive D on the SF last drive. Instead he had to stick with agressive D plan. So, for me there was mistakes on the both side of the ball that contributed to the loss. It is pitty, because I do not believe 49er are that strong, their O-line is terrible and their playmakers, especially in the first half (well, except McCaffrey). But, the last drive was again f*cking prevent D.

Jordan Love did not play his best game, unfortunatelly. My take is that was because game plan was to simple for that good D. So he had to improvise.

I'm in support of all of you who wants Joe Barry to go. There are several quality DC (e. g. Don "Wink" Martindale), so it would not be problem to find improvement over Joe Barry!

I'll give another season to Rich Bisaccia. And, I agree with proposition to bring competition to Anders Carlson and do it immediatelly when OTAs starts. But, they need new long snapper. This one is true disaster!

At least we can be satisfied with our punter!

This loss is painful, because this was winnable game, and I decided to turn the page and to look to the new season. I will not lose sleep because of it.

And those who called Jordan Love choker, just went to last 12 seasons before Jordan Love started to play for Packers. Than come back and tell us that Love is choker! It is ridiculous!
