Looks like the Chiefs won't be trading Tony Gonzalez.
So much for my To-Do list.... ;)

but they also say in that article "Clark Hunt says the Chiefs will retain Gonzalez but don't you get the feeling that if a really sweet deal comes along, he's gone? Me too. Who knows? Maybe this is part of a ploy to increase Gonzalez's trade value, making teams think the Chiefs won't part for him without a hefty return."
kinda makes you wanna scratch your head?? Think about if we had gonzalez, lee, humphrey all at TE....wow

The best part of having those three at TE would be having enough depth to ensure that Jermichael Finley doesn't see another snap.

Don't discount Finley. He's going to be very, very good.

Finley is not now or, probably, never will be a good blocker. He is the Jackson type of TE that can stretch the field. In short, he will be used mostly as a role player. I really wish they could get a run blocker as the other role player. Lee is ok at blocking and ok at receiving. I would love to see a dominant blocking type TE to compliment what, hopefully, Finley will bring.

Ron - the kid is 22 years old. It's awfully dismissive to say 'he will never be a good blocker' Let's give him more than a handful of snaps at the pro level (not to mention an offseason in the weight room) before we pass judgment on what he will and won't be able to do...

I agree with Aaron on Finley's potential. He's just not there yet. The issue is he's 22 years old. It's pretty hard to coach up maturity. Gonzo would have been nice for a few seasons

Actually Aaron it's a function of his body. Tall and gangly and a high center of gravity prevents him from getting any levelerage on a DE.

So why again did we get rid of Franks? He was great at both. I thought he did pretty good in 07.

I will put my two cents in on Finley...I'll believe it when I see it. Too raw, too immature, not too bright.
As for wish lists, I would think that we all would have learned that there is virtually no connection between any fan wish list and what Ted Thompson will actually do (well, besides draft AJ Hawk).
Franks was a victim of his expectations and a big salary cap figure. He was a solid blocker and kept Favre alive in 2005 and 2006.

"Too raw, too immature, not too bright."
You just described Brett Favre when Ron Wolf traded for him.
I'm just sayin...
