To defer or not to defer, that is the question! Maybe for home games, MLF could take a fan referendum and let them vote concerning deferment, a vote for the people by the people sort of thing. A show of hands, stand up or sit down, very quick and easy.

Gotta coordinate! That’s why my belt always matched my shoes back when I was still working.

Being truly honest with myself, I don't think anything that Joe Barry would have said would make me have more confidence in him. Accordingly, his statement that "the defense must be more consistent" is just another vague reference to shift more blame onto the players versus his coaching/lack of coaching style.

How about "his consistency" in coaching? While his soft zone defenses put GB in the gutter by the midway point of the season, he suddenly lets his DBs play to their talents with more press coverage? And guess what, the D plays better! Imagine that! He's able to save his job for another year...

I am amongst the many fans that are angry with the organization on keeping Barry. And I hate to say it, but I feel its due to the leadership weakness of MLF. If this were a business situation, I would say that MLF is exhibiting classic Peter Principle behavior. He lacks confidence in his abilities and will not hire great assistants because one of them might replace him one day? Or, the other argument is the age old one that GB is just too cheap to spend money on great coaches? I find this one hard to believe as a team that spends so much money against a salary cap wouldn't spend more on good coaching? In other words, with all the myriad of business Directors on their Board, surely someone would recognize being "penny-wise but pound foolish"?

Lets all hope that Barry has been scared into changing his soft, comfortable defenses! I, for one, don't believe that a tiger can change its stripes... GPG
