I enjoyed that discussion and I like the ideas you presented in free agency. With a few key signings in free agency it helps to not tie our hands into having to draft players earlier than the Packers have them slotted.

I know Gute was talking about drafting quarterbacks, but you had none in your mock. I don't imply I disagree with what you have done, but was wondering if you had considered including one somewhere along the way.

The fact that Mckinney is really young and productive makes him a good option to go after. I don't like the price @ $13 to $14 million per year. I hope someone else takes this decision out of our hands by paying more than that and I think that's what happens.

I am all in on Fuller, and I love the idea of 2 Safeties, but I would feel much better if we signed 2 for the $14 million or less than you propose. Sign Fuller and one of Whitehead, Blackmon, Chinn, or one of the next group of FA Safeties that will be released this week. That puts us @ as low as $9 million for Fuller and Chinn, (Who could also play LB), or as much as the $14 million for Fuller & Whitehead or ?

That savings allows us to pursue a sneaky need @ Edge. Because Enegbare is out, and Smith won't be a Packer in 2024. I would chase A J Epenesa-Buffalo who is projected to get $5 million per year. An up and coming, productive, 25-year-old who just had his 2 best seasons as a pro. I watched him be a game wrecker @ Iowa for 3 years and he is finally proving why he was picked so early.

I have also talked recently on here about signing Antonio Gibson @ RB. The Packers had serious interest in Gibson in 2020. He was underused @ Memphis St, but had big potential running and catching the ball. He has had 2600 rush yards, and 1300 recieving yards, with 22 TDs in 4 years for a terrible Washington organization. At that projected salary he would be a perfect add. My other possible FA add after the draft if we struck out, was Ezekiel Elliot, for about the same money. He could fill the Dillon role, he still runs hard and is a great pass catcher. He has always ben a great blocker too.

I wanted Cashman for the Packers in 2019 because he was fast, a good tackler, and decent coverage LB too. The projected price is great too. But I want someone else who is a playmaker/gamechanger.

I know you don't like Devin White, but I recently posted an accurate comparison of White and Patrick Queen, and they are virtually the same player. Same height, weight, and speed. White has 80 more career tackles in 9 more games.

White's issues in Tampa Bay have been talked about and people say he shouldn't be a Packer because of that.
I will argue that maybe Queen isn't as clean and perfect either because the Ravens are not offering him a new contract either, after his best year ever. I wonder why?

We can't afford Queen, but I see a great opportunity to get the exact same player @ $11 million less per year if the projections are right for White @ $7 million per year. We would get the playmaker, hair on fire LB we have needed for 20 years in GB. 5 years of proven production vs 1 year that Cashman has @ $3 million more than Cashman gets. And White is younger than Cashman.

If I was GB, I would look hard and fast @ signing White before anyone else does. 4 years for $30 million would be a steal, and White would still be under 30 at the end of the contract. That would be a home run signing. Add Fuller, Epenesa, Gibson, and Whitehead and that's 5 gamechangers for the Packers in 2024.

''' Sign Fuller and one of Whitehead, Blackmon, Chinn....'''''

Are any of these guys objectively better than Savage? Because you'll be paying them more than it would take to keep him. I think you could make the argument Whitehead is better, although more expensive.. Chinn...??? Not so much. He's missed a lot of time the last two seasons. Blackmon had 4 picks last year, but over the last 4 years, he hasn't been as productive as Savage....it's possible he won't be as expensive.

I'd be looking to trade pick #41 for Budda Baker. And I'd bring back Ford, because he's cheap and he had a decent year last year. I'd hope that one of the FIVE Safeties we currently have on our roster (Anderson, Gilbert, Sapp, Coyle, and young) has actually improved enough to contribute this year.

That's three.

Baker missed 5 games last year and had a 106 passer rating allowed. I wouldn't trade a 4th rounder for him.

Exactly LL. So Leatherhead says trade #41 for Baker.
1-why waste the premium pick when there are good FAs?
2-Mckinney is 24-Baker is 28
3-if they are getting the same money, why pick Baker?
4-Baker has been injured-it happens more as we age

It makes no sense to lose a premium pick to trade for an older player that will cost as much as the younger player that we can just sign.

Yeah I think Chinn would be better than Savage. And Savage will cost twice as much. Chinn has more versatility, other team sites say they would use him @ S & LB. Savage's time is done in GB Leather. Management hasn't even mentioned his name in a month.

Baker isn't worth $14 million a year, let alone to throw away a top 40 pick for him. We need younger and cheaper.

Great analysis. I liked the thoughts on who to re-sign and free agent signees. Signing McKinley, Fuller and Cashman would be the perfect scenario in my opinion. I also loved the 1st two picks in the draft projection, as they offer great value at positions of need. I do think Edge and Running back are need picks that need to be addressed and while I like the selection of Fiske. I was really pleased with the production of the 2 rookie DT's last year and am expecting a 2nd year jump from them An Edge and Running back in place of Fiske in the 2nd and Hicks in the 3rd, with then adding another safety , CB or O-line in lieu of the 3 running backs at the end of the draft would've made it a stronger result. Edge is a sneaky need with Engabare likely out for most if not the entire year and this likely being Preston's last in G.B.
