Pack-A-Day Podcast - Episode 1600 - The Jordan Love Decision

In 2023, Jordan Love will be entering his fourth season as an NFL quarterback; and it's fair to question if he will want to remain as a backup to Aaron Rodgers. If Rodgers does indeed want to come back, the Packers will have a very difficult decision on Jordan Love. I discuss today.

Andy,
Holy Hanna....you made my brain hurt with all your vascillating...if this...or that scenarios.

We won't know until we know....but I'm going to take a different opinion in which Rodgers doesn't want to wait around for a few years for the rebuild. As a result, a MUTUAL decision for Rodger's trade will be made if he can go to the team he thinks gives him his best chance at a SB. Although I think Christian Watson and Doubs might have some influence I still believe & hope Love ends up the starter in 2023 following Rodgers trade for some much needed draft capital.

The time to trade Rodgers for draft capital was back in either 2020 or 21.
The 49ers would have paid up big time.

Pay the 5th year option. Then you can cut AR or tell him to move on after 2023 if he comes back next year.

When one looks at all these running QBs who have been injured this year – why would one think that that is the way to go. Maybe Love has learned enough from AR to know when to run and when to slide and not to be a Fields knock off and he will outlast Fields.
Tonight Murray is hurt on a run before that Tua went down on a sack , then who is also down Lamar , Fields White Pickett Trey Lance – even big old Josh Allen. I wouldnt doubt that Hurts is eventually going to get hurts – The thing is that even when staying in the pocket and the new no slamming rules guys like Hebert still get injured- so why risk it for guys using those RPO’s eventually somebody is going to catch up with them. Run when the pocket collapses and then slide or run out of bounds – dont figure like Cam Newton and Josh Allen that you are bigger and tougher than those guys because you are NOT.

He's our starting QB next year. If he does well, great, and if he doesn't, we'll be in the market for a new QB.

Lots of unnecessary angst over all this. I know people like to say they don't think there's any kind of a plan at 1265 Lombardi, but they are wrong. We've put a good QB on the field, with a good team around him, almost continuously since 1992, and that' hasn't happened by accident.

There was a plan LH....then it went another direction by Packer mismanagement.

There was a plan, until the Packers screwed Jordan Love by giving Rodgers a new contract 9 months ago with 101 million guaranteed.

Based on the new contract they gave Rodgers.
Has anybody ever discussed what that said about how the Packers feel about Jordan Love?
My guess, not a lot.

If i'm Jordan Love, i'm pissed they gave Rodgers that new money, that wasn't the plan in 2020 when he was drafted.

There was a plan Leatherhead, but it went sideways courtesy of Gute and Murphy's decision to give Rodgers a new winning lottery ticket. That wasn't by "accident" either.
.
Who is our starting QB in 2023...Jordan Love?
Do you think Rodgers retires, or magically goes away somehow with 59 million guaranteed to him, not too mention the heavy contract. which makes a trade, difficult at best.
