57 minutes seemed daunting but I clicked on anyway- glad I did. That was a fascinating walk through Packer drafts past, present, and future. Thanks for sharing plenty of insights on drafting philosophy at 1265 Lombardi. I know the mock today didn't include trading back but I'm a big advocate of that and it sure would be nice to have some extra ammunition going into 2025. I appreciate, and agree with, the thoughts on slot corner; hopefully that will be a priority in the draft... and don't forget some safeties too.
Thanks Ross and Aaron for time well spent.

That draft list prediction would certainly make me happy. Another CB to add to what we have already could make this group elite, and maybe one of them could be a safety.

Why are people so obsessed with making CBs into safeties? I want a CB that is good at being a CB and a Safety that is good at playing Safety. They aren't just interchangeable most of the time. I want a defense that plays to the player's strength, not that moves players to fit the defense.

There have been some great NFL safeties who began their careers at cornerback and transitioned to safety mid-career. Charles Woodson, Devin McCourty, Ronnie Lott and Rod Woodson all made the switch.

If they cant land brooks or benson grab Blake Corum..he's going to be a good player for someone...great guy and works harder than anyone...

Random thoughts: The observation on Kris Jenkins was impressive. One of the biggest mistakes TT made was trading his uncle. I do not trust Joe Barry to effectively deploy draft additions to the defense. Trading down is optimal, but more difficult as many teams seek to do the same.

Just a small correction. They didn't trade Cullen Jenkins. They just didn't re-sign him when he became a free agent. He was a key player on the defense, and I thought GB really missed him.
Barry must know something, given the defense ranked top 10 in points scored against them. They do need a ball hawking safety and CB, and they need consistency.

Ross- I don't agree with your picks.
So I tried the PFF sim.
You brought up Nubin. I took him.
25 Tyler Nubin S Minn.- Cap save $$$
I feel the Trench is needed
41. Troy Fautanu. OT Washington.
Plays anywhere. Pre combine #50
57. T, Vondre Sweat DI Texas
While I should take a LB here,
Chop won't be there.
I felt a back-up NT is Needed.
Especially for a 4 FRONT?
88. Trey Benson. RB FS
91. Cole Bishop S Utah -

I think we all knew the move on from Joe Barry had to happen. The thing to consider now as it applies to the draft is who they bring in as a DC and how that might impact draft selections. What if the new guy wants to migrate more toward a 4/3? Right now people are looking at filling holes of need. Changing to a 4/3 might require beefers for defensive line rotations and such. That could put a wrinkle in some of the desired selections folks are looking at in this moment.

Russ,
I have limited time anymore with everything going on with my life right now but 'boy, did I ever enjoy this segment with Aaron'. Being a self-acknowledged drafnick....thank you as very fun and informative. Can't wait until the draft in April with all the draft picks the Packers have loaded up on. Lastly, I too agree so much about using two 2nd round draft choices to move up for Watson. At the time, I was very disappointed because both the WRs still on the board. I felt extremely strongly the Packers needed an edge/linebacker and several good ones were available. Yes, if Watson can ever figure out his hamstring problems it will be an awesome pick even for those two 2nd round selections.
