Packers CB Tramon Williams Signed RFA Tender

According to Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Green Bay Packers restricted free agent cornerback Tramon Williams signed his one-year tender on Monday, and submitted the contract to the Packers, but Williams' name does not appear on the NFL's transaction list.

Williams has started 20 of his 48 games with the Packers, including 10 games in 2009. The 5-11, 191-pound cornerback has 10 interceptions and 33 passes defensed, and has also returned kicks and punts for the Packers.

Williams was tendered at the "First- and Third-Round" level. Due to Williams having three (3) accrued seasons to his credit, his tender carries a $3.043 million dollar base salary for 2010. If the Packers opted to reduce the tender to amount to 110% of Williams' 2009 base salary, which they could do if the tender was not signed by Monday's deadline, Williams would lose $2.4655 million dollars in base salary this season.

With that much to lose, Williams should have signed the tender first thing Monday morning, perhaps even flying to Wisconsin to hand deliver it to avoid any confusion.
