Rumors Fly

Our new friends over at Railbird Central have done a nice job of gathering together a few of the personnel rumors that are currently floating around about the Packers, and the two that they highlight today have to make you scratch your head at the Packers front office and a certain reporter that covers the team.

First, it's come out that the Packers contacted the Giants about trading them a kicker and the Giants said "no thanks". But then this past weekend the Giants' two kickers went a combined 1-4. Yikes. So now we wait with baited breath to see if Thompson can wrestle a "low-round pick" for one of his kickers. Oh, and by the way, he JUST SPENT a low round pick on... one of these very kickers! Oy vey.

Second, Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press Gazette speculates that the Packers could take a look for running back help in the form of the recently cut Kevan Barlow. Dougherty cites McCarthy's past relationship with Barlow from their days in San Francisco. Um, Pete? That means he saw Barlow play. Every day. And he knows, better than you or I, how much he is NOT worth a roster spot whatsoever on any NFL team. Period. Besides, why bring in a has-been to take reps away from people like Wynn or White? Let's see what these kids can do before throwing out a washed up, overrated non-talent like Barlow.
