Railbird Central Podcast: The Jekyll and Hyde Play of Post-Injury Clay Matthews

Nathan Jahnke of ProFootballFocus.com joins the show to talk about Clay Matthews and a number of other Packers topics.

Episode 344

Nathan Jahnke of ProFootballFocus.com joins us as he does every Wednesday to discuss the Green Bay Packers, and particularly interesting are his comments on linebacker Clay Matthews. Since coming back from a broken thumb, and partly due to injury, Matthews has been up and down for the Packers, making big plays one minute and getting handled one-on-one the next. We go in-depth on Matthews and then get into the injury situations revolving around Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb.

So, um, maybe NFL linebacking pass rushing monsters need to have TWO healthy hands?

Exactly right! You must have your hands to unbalance your opponent (unless we're talking about AP or Barry Sanders, etc)

I think it is the scheme Capers is using him for rther just letting him get after the QB and RBs. If you notice on alot of plays he just meets the OT and plays push with him while reading the play or dropping back in coverage. Before his injuryhewas goingonahardrushlikehedidattheendofthegame sun.

"If you notice on alot of plays he just meets the OT and plays push with him..."

Yeah, I notice that A LOT. I certainly hope it's schematic because it's infuriating to watch.

I think he is being used wrong and should play the middle. Were wasting his speed skills. Dumb Capers sleem.

There is a lot of deadwood on this team. Until we clear that out and get some talent, this team ain't going to the playoffs for at least three years.
