Pro Day Roundup: Montana State, Western Michigan, Kansas, Central Michigan

Packers scout Sam Seale said he attended the Montana State workout to see offensive lineman Mike Person.

The Green Bay Packers had representatives at several pro day workouts at college campuses across the nation this week. Here's some news and notes from reports around the web...

  • Packers scout Sam Seale was at Montana State on Tuesday and said he was primarily there to offensive lineman Mike Person, who participated in the NFLPA-sponsored Texas Vs. the Nation game and was also invited to the NFL Combine in February. "Person made strides in the vertical, going from a 28-inch leap to 29 inches, but he couldn't best his combine bench press total, which remained at 21 repetitions of 225 pounds," reports Will Holden of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle.
  • The Packers were one of only five teams at Western Michigan where wide receiver Juan Nunez is the best pro prospect from the same school that produced Greg Jennings. "While Nunez looked fairly smooth by all accounts running under and to [quarterback Nick] Burdi’s passes, he may have done more for himself with his 40-yard dash time, which was clocked by different scouts at either 4.3 or 4.4 seconds," writes Graham Couch of the Kalamazoo Gazette. "It’s the sort of time that can vault a player onto draft boards."
  • Kansas was another stop on the pro day circuit where offensive lineman Brad Thorson, among others, were on display. “I came in here and did sets at both tackles and both guards and I felt fluid there," said Thorson, according to NBC affiliate KSNT. "This is kind of a once in a lifetime opportunity, you only get to do it once. I hope my showing was at least good enough."
  • There was no word whether a Packers scout or coach was at Central Michigan, but alum Frank Zombo was there. He was able to watch Wisconsin native and fellow linebacker Nick Bellore work out.

Brian,
I've said earlier that Christian Ponder could help make this a better draft for the Packers. And here's more fuel...

If the Bengals, Bills, AZ, Tenn., Queens, and Redskins don't address their QB needs in round one they may want to trade back up into the end of round one to get Ponder, Kaepernick, Mallett, or the ever rising Dalton. Whoever, it just means the Packer's get more and more viable as a trading partner.
