Packers vs. Giants Game Predictions from CheeseheadTV.com

 GAME PREDICTIONS Week 5

Green Bay Packers vs. New York Giants

Name Record   Pick Prediction
Adam 2-1 NY Giants 33-27
Eli has always played the Packers tough. This time around, he's got three legit receiving targets playing against a banged up and struggling Packers secondary. Once again, Eli prevails.
Jersey Al 2-1 NY Giants 34-32
The Giants are agitated and mad and will play like it. They will rack up tons of yards in the air against the hobbled and under-performing Packers' secondary. The question is how many points? This will surely be the game that Odell Beckham breaks out with 10+ catches and three TD passes (there are no nastys in the Packers secondary to get him off his game). So it will fall on the Packers' offense to out-score the Giants. I don't know if they are at that level yet, so I say they fall just short.
Andrew 2-1 Green Bay Packers 24-17
As I wrote Friday morning, the key to this game comes down to the secondary against the Giants receivers. There are other factors—the defensive front against a shaky offensive line or getting Eddie Lacy going early—but I still say the game hinges on that first matchup because the Giants will get the ball out of Manning's hands as quick as possible.

If the secondary can cover the receivers, Manning will start thinking too much and doing too much at the line. That will help the defensive front in getting pressure on him. Last week, it's what worked for the Minnesota Vikings, and that has to be the play this week. That and the loud crowd will make the difference just like it did for the Vikings.
Cory 2-1 NY Giants 34-30
An upset Odell Beckham plus a banged up Green Bay secondary is a bad equation for the Packers. Eli Manning will get his third career win at Lambeau Field in a shootout that once again exposes the Packers’ secondary.
Jason 2-1 Green Bay Packers 24-20
The score shouldn't be this close but the Packers are still feeling their way through this season and the Giants always find a way to make a game of it.  Eli Manning and an inspired Odell Beckham Jr. give the Packers secondary all they can handle but it's too little too late.
Jayme 2-1 Green Bay Packers 31-28
The bye week should help the Packers defense, but with Sam Shields remaining out and recent history of the Packers secondary allowing career days by opposing wide receivers, the though of playing against Odell Beckman causes nightmares. Here's hoping the Packers offense can keep its trend from the Lions first half and eek out another win in semi-shoot out fashion.
Michelle 1-2 Green Bay Packers 27-20
The Packers offense is coming to life, but this game looks like it will hinge on Green Bay's depleted secondary being able to hold off Eli Manning, Odell Beckham Jr., and the rest of his weapons.
Ross 2-1 Green Bay Packers 41-30
As I said, the Packers have to win games against teams that they are better than at home.  I'd anticipate 24+ points out of the offense in the first half.  I think Aaron Rodgers gets his first 300+ yard game in a long time because I don't think the pass defense is going to be able to keep the Giants down, either.  This game will be competitive long enough to truly see what the Packers offense can do.
Zach 2-1 Green Bay Packers 34-20
Expect an air-show to take place at Lambeau Field on Sunday night. With a secondary-less Packers finally hitting their stride on the opposite side of the ball, they'll out-duel Eli Manning's Giants
Mr. X 2-1 Green Bay Packers 33-24
It's a battle of banged up secondaries, but if Rodgers and the Packers play like they did in the first half of the Lions game (before going into turtle mode), they will come out on top.

The Packers need to do 3 things to win this game.
1. Pressure Eli Manning consistently.
2. Play physical against the Giants WRs especially Beckham early in the game.
3. Keep the Giants offense off the field with time consuming drives.

Second consecutive road game for the Giants. Historically that's a tough go for the visitors, plus a short week for the Giants. Packers coming off a bye at home. MM has a good post bye week record except for last season in Denver. This is probably the best way for the Packers to start their run of 13 straight games. Packers offense plays keep away and scores several times. Beckham gets so upset his head pops off. Pack rolls 34-16. Thanks, Since '61

I agree with Al, this just smells like the week someone on the Giants will have a record setting day. Hoping MM outcoaches his protege. Surely he must come up with a plan that surprises us. No? Can we lose again to the Giants ? All my childhood memories of crushing them are fading from view. One day we will dominate in a Sunday night game. Maybe because it seems so unlikely, it will happen this week.

I look for Eli Manning to play the way he did in 2010 against the Packers. As in 4 interceptions. If Packers only win two more games this year let it be this one and the one against Seattle. OK, beating Dallas is a must as well.

I expect the Giants will have no ground game of consequence and perhaps one touchdown in the air to go along with perhaps three field goals.

The Packers combining a solid run and passing game should score 30 or better for an easy win.

This game makes me very nervous. And it shouldn't - but Shields being out, DR playing like crap, and HHCD/Burnett being somehow invisible... just makes me nervous.

It's going to come down to scoring quickly on our end, sacking Eli and stuffing the run. Because those 3 WRs the Giants have are NASTY.

Same thoughts. Need to score early and often. Minimal 3 and outs. Harass Eli, keep him off balance, and run Lacy as much as possible. Full 4 quarters of football. Can not let down with Eli and those receivers.

I picked this game as a loss since the season schedule was released. The Manning Giants are built to beat a team like our Packers. Eli is going to have a lot of big down the field passing plays. The only thing that will keep the giants out of the end zone is a compressed field. Our defense does still play well in short field situations and I think they will continue to do so this week. The pass rush from the Giants will harass AR all day.

I see plenty of pressure on Eli but he wont need much time to throw as I don't think he will need to get past his second read in order to find an open WR.

If MM and AR work the short middle of the field we may start to see cobb open up in the slot. Because the giants will bring pressure I see screens being very valuable.

All that being said I think this is a start to finish Giants victory. I hope I am wrong but I don't think I will be. Giants over our Packers 34-19.

It's a hard one to call. We haven't covered on the Giants since the mid 2007 season, if I'm not mistaken. Each game was Gb-8 & we lost them outright. This one is
Gb-7. Looks like a rerun. Not betting, but I'd have a hard time taking GB -7. Maybe that means they'll finally beat the Giants. Think I'd play the over???

GB beat them by 3 in E Rutherford in the regular season in 2011. Don't remember the spread on that one.

barutanseijin, GB-8

Other than Futures, we don't Bet anymore. Haven't for over a year, since my health issues. Just to make it interesting, we have a small $50 parlay card on 4 teams. If it hits it's $600.

I'm going to keep riding Oakland. Something seems to be going on there.

We got Oakland -3 1/2 over SD & Over 51 1/2
Tonight we're taking the Giants +7 1/2 & Over 48 1/2

I don't have a good record the times I played the GB game, so maybe they'll win if I take the Giants. Go Pack!!

Tarynfor12, What's your thinking? Do the Giants cover a 2ond road game, or does GB finally cover the Giants after 9 years??

You guys should be ashamed of yourself s. Picking the Giants over the Packers. Shame on you! I would appreciate a little more positive thinking. We have the greatest QB, The best Offensive Line in the League. The highest paid WRs. The biggest RB. The best coach in their history. The greatest Fans in the world. The Home field advantage. The best run defense in years. Mathews! And your worried about a has been QB. A no rush defense. A offensive backfield beat up. This game will be won by the packers. 31-17. Geez and I thought Cow was bad at predicting.

If we all pick the Packers, we're criticized for being "homers." Can't win. In any case. I feel like the Packers' secondary is just what the Giants need to get their passing game going. Three VERY good receivers. Packers will need to out-score them.

stockholder, " We should be ashamed of ourselves"? You don't know what you're talking about. We're not necessarily picking against GB. We are trying to play the line, something you know Nothing about. For us, It's all about the Benjamin's!!

The Giants aren't that good. If Green Bay has anything less than 400 yards of total offense and a double-digit win, they're not serious contenders.

What McCarthy concentrates on in the offseason, is what happens in the season. McCarthy said they would protect their home this year, and I believe him. All of this talk about Manning torching our secondary.... Maybe. But what about the Packers torching their secondary? They're waaay more banged up in that department than we are. Also, the Giants of yesteryear, these are not. Their pass rush could barely get home on the third worst offensive line in the league (Vikings). Plus short week playing a team coming off the bye. Just don't see a giants win here. More pouty Eli face as they drop three in a row. Pack 34-17.

The Packers secondary has been unimpressive, & the Gints are hurting in the defensive backside. The Packer D has been good against the run, but the Giants strength is the passing game. Eli & the Giants are more likely to take advantage of the Packers defensive weaknesses. However, the Gints are on the road on a short week. Someone will win this one by a field goal. I'll say it will be the Giants given recent history and the packer record in prime time games.
