Yeah he's getting vet minimum for a salary this year and an $11.5 roster bonus next year that will have to be restructured. He could count $30 million against the cap by the 4th and 5th year of the deal so something will have to give after year 3 unless the cap has gone up ridiculously by then. With the gambling money if just might.

Agree with everything except Clark. After restructing his deal, he's set to count $20 million against the cap next year. Theres no way theyre going to pay that much for a DT with a combined 10 sacks over the last 3 years especially when they just gave Jaire a huge extension and will have to give Jenkins and Gary huge extensions over the next year as well. I'm a big fan of Clark, but it looks like Wyatt was drafted to be his future replacement rather than his running mate.

We'll also have Rasul Douglas for a few years too... Expecting Gutey to keep churning the bottom end of the roster, as he does, and while optimism runs rampant this time of year, I feel our defense might be as good as any I can remember. (At least as good as any in the last three decades if they come together, gel, and play as a team.)

Will the receiver mania ever end? They currently have 7 receivers under contract when they traditionally only carry 6 on the active roster. Here's Rodgers' numbers in his last 7 games without Adams: 19 tds vs only 1 int and they won all 7, 4 of which were against playoff teams. They have more than enough receivers to have another great offense.

My view is a veteran WR would now be a luxury.

The WR room is suddenly crowded with a good mix of vets and rookies/young prospects: Watkins, Watson, Lazard, Cobb, Rodgers, Doubs, Toure, Taylor, Winfree and a few other prospects.

I expect they will keep 6 on the 53...maybe 7 if a guy like Toure shows he can be a ST stalwart on kick and cover teams.

At best, look for WR veteran value on cut down days, but I would be looking to bolster Edge and S now.

If you are thinking Beckham, I'd say no. The WR room is getting crowded and Beckham has a history of getting sulky if he feels he is not getting his targets. Plus the knee.

And why did they miss out on OBJ? Because Rodgers demanded they trade for Cobb. With his salary added to the cap, they didnt have enough money to give OBJ what the Rams offered.

The difference is that BG made a better pick on draft night.
Therefore, an extension makes sense. tt seemed to double down on questionable choices on draft night.

Sammy Watkins is a veteran WR. He will be used much more, this coming season, than we would have used OBJ, with his injury status and maybe even Julio Jones and his ability to stay on the field. I like the Watkins signing, It did not break the bank and gave Rodgers a good target to throw to. The hard part for Rodgers will be in choosing which target to throw to. I cannot wait to see this offense hum!

Ward got more than twice the guaranteed money that Alexander did. His salary is actually $19.46 million AAV over 5 years so he's still getting less than Ramsey. The $21 million is agent speak.

Woodson a generational player.....That would be something...but no, he's not as instinctive. Woodson and Ed Reed just ridiculously good players...next-next level. That's ok modern perennial All Pro works.

Every contract is a speculation. They're not paying for what he was in his previous deal, they're paying him for what they anticipate him being over the next 4 years.

I think he has definitely shown that he is a top 5 CB. If they hadn't resigned him now they would potentially have risked another Devante Adams scenario down the road. The money seems high, but it's the going rate for top CB's and the salary cap is positioned to explode over the next few years. I think it was the right move and the front office should be applauded for getting it done.

I never liked these big contracts - especially to the Oline - The Packers have proven that they develop the Oline - and if one looks at Baks salary and the number of games that he has played - I wonder about spending horrendous dollars on Oline. I also know that at team is only as good as the Oline. But Dallas spent so much money and draft capital on the Oline and won nothing. Now Dbacks are a different breed almost as important as the QB in shutting down the other teams number one receiver. So they deserve the big bucks if anyone does. So I am happy that he got paid - I hope that Stokes improves on the same trajectory that he started and then gets paid. One final note - and I have said this before - there is the salary cap and there is team expenditures - The Green Bay Packers have been having home games the last 3 seasons and have making money by the bucket full - Pay the players and the staff some of this - because it may not last.
