Packers Question of the day - Where's Aaron Rodgers?

You knew this was coming. On the day after the Packers' 17-14 loss in the Vikings' new home-opener, it's safe to assume not much has changed with Green Bay's offense in the months following the culmination of the 2015 season. While many things can be attributed to this, as well as the struggles of Aaron Rodgers, who seems like he needs to take a quarterback fundamentals class and get back to the basics. How does he shake the habit?

I have my own speculations on why this offense is struggling, but chime in with your own.

I know I will get it for this but he is not the same Aaron Rodgers. He is hesitant, almost looks lost, remember I do not need practice and it shows. Sorry to say they are not on the same page.

I never got on the super man rogers bangwagon. To be hall of fame I think it takes more than two good years.
Rogers started behind a top O line with top TE's and receivers to throw to.
He was super in that situation. Until KC realized he was picking zones apart and went to man. From that day forward he became just mortal, average guy.
Now with a pourous O line, crappy receivers, TE's that spend more time blocking then catching, he is average at best. His performance shows that he is not a great QB people have raised him up to be.

The top O-line that put him among the QBs taking the highest number of sacks year after year? The top TE who was injured half the time and inconsistent the other half? The top WR who went to Minnesota, did squat, and is now out of the league? Or the other one who was always dropping the ball a few years ago, and now he's old and lost his speed? Or that third guy who was really good and consistent, just like Jordy Nelson, until he got old and went on Dancing with the Stars? I don't think much has changed.

O line is terrible. Can't run block or pass block. But if this offense wants to get going then get away from all the repetitive plays that everybody is looking for during the game.

When was the last time we threw to the rb's coming out of the backfield up the middle more than 3 times (if that)? Why don't we use the screen play a lot more than a couple times a YEAR! Especially when everybody knows that a blitzing team can be stopped dead with a good screen play. And we have one of the best(when we use it) in the NFL. Or we did. Last year we were making big yards with it when we needed a big play. Over 12 yards a play on average.

Right. And the more Adams is in the game plan, the more Rodgers will Flop. We get Cook and Jordy Nelson Back , and he'd still rather throw it to a guy who drops everything, and now Fumbles.

What was really shocking to me was watching Bradford in there, holding steady in the pocket and making his throws while taking a pounding. The skittish Rodgers was a stark contrast.

I think that is a huge part of it. The O-Line let him get pounded for years; the sack numbers from 2010-2014 were atrocious. Now that he's getting older he just doesn't want to take the pounding anymore. He's looking to move a create instead of trusting the system and waiting on his reads.

Bradford played the best game of his life... he was dropping dimes while getting smoked. Either he'll be the real deal or it was a fluke. From a defensive standpoint they did enough to win that game. Rodgers is off and is in a slump dating to the beginning of last year. Let's hope he gets his moxy back

14 straight games without posting a QB rating in the 100s. The Pack is 6-8 in those 14 games, including 1-1 in the playoffs. On a surface level it's tempting to put it on Rodgers, but when considering that 14 games is nearly a full-season's worth of action, there has to be multiple causes of a troubling sort -- shaky QB play, yes, but also shaky coaching and receivers who have trouble getting open, plus so many sacks given up last year that Rodgers appears to have a case of the yips.

I wish it was just about Rodgers, because getting one guy back on track is easier than getting a coach and the entire offensive unit on track as well. The ongoing scuffle on that side of the ball is about a bunch more than just Rodgers -- and, personally, I'm done assuming Rodgers is going to have a chip-on-the-shoulder bounce back game after a grim loss. I made that assumption a few times last year. I'm not going there this year.

There has to be a system out there in which Rodgers could succeed. Unfortunately, Mike McCarthy doesn't run that system and will never admit he should change.

Yep, I am moving away from blaming the scheme (but not applauding it either) and looking at Rodgers execution in it. Just too many instances of him ignoring guys running wide open down the middle, or the check down after the first reads, too many misses on back foot throws and now I am seeing him blow off Mike McCarthy on the sideline.

On positive note Rodgers TV Commercials are really great, so at least I get to enjoy something he is doing right now.

Rodgers is BEST QB in NFL!! ask how many other teams would want him, like 30?? Rodgers problem is he plays for TERRIBLE HC and Walking DEAD GM who refuses to ever bring in/sign some weapons. Nelson is good #2 WR, but he's not Santonio Holmes, AJ Green game breaker. Packers don't even have a RB who can go 20yds, let alone break a 80yd TD run. So Rodgers has to manufacture everything.

besides the sb (where he was out of this world) he never had a big playoff game. never carried the team on his shoulders. sometimes he was even average.
in his two mvp regular seasons he was special, but other than that, he left a lot out there.......
and he got way better weapons than favre or brady......but i forgot, he needs to trust people before he throws to them

Mike Zimmer's ability to scheme against Rodgers (and by extension McCarthy) have been the top themes in the week leading up to the game. It's clear that Zimmer's approach works quite well. My hope is that the Packers staff uses this tape to self-scout and figure out how defenses have evolved to shut down a very good offense.

I don't think it's an issue of skill. I think there's plenty of talent on the field. Rodgers hasn't regressed. It just seems like they haven't figured out how to adjust yet.

The thing that's such a killer in all of this, is that we now have a defense that can consistently shut down other teams but have lost the support on offense. I'm sure that can't go on indefinitely - Right?

Cherry picking quotes and trying to read body language (or lips) between AR and MM will never give us the answer. Personally, I don't buy the "going Hollywood" nonsense or any other goofy conspiracy theories.

Reliable, observable facts tell us that AR isn't playing as before. It can't all be attributed to lack of separation, play calling, or the OLine, which is very difficult to judge when AR isn't (for whatever reason) seeing opportunities down field.

So what are we left with? Players change, people change. With my normal caveat of abhorring speculation, perhaps 2015-16 AR is just a different guy from 2009-2014 AR, with respect to personal/team challenges and motivations. If that is in any way true, it is incumbent upon MM to react to any "new AR", not with the typical coach type responses some would like, but on a deeper level.

Not necessarily. MM would not have to fundamentally chance philosophy. He would need to find a different communication level with AR in order to determine if AR's attitudes, goals, or motivations have changed.

Also, MM may have undergone a change. The death of a close family member can alter a person's priorities. This is not to say that such speculated changes are bad with respect to either MM or AR. They just may or may not be congruent with winning football.

I firmly believe Rodgers has been an elite QB, not just elevated to that status by Packer fans, but by national analysts as well as the NFL itself, as two MVP awards would suggest. But as 14 straight games below a 100 passer rating would indicate, we now realize that something has changed. Perhaps he has really hit an age where accuracy declines. Maybe he isn't maintaining the near perfect mechanics he's always shown. Certainly, he no longer has a receiving corps to match the loaded group he had in 2011. But I believe the one element that may be largely to blame is the one element that hasn't changed.

Last year, without Jordy, the other WRs just couldn't get open. As national analysts looked into it, we began to hear how basic & unimaginative the Packers route concepts were. It was a system that served them well, but probably because they had a great QB and 5 really good WRs plus Jermichael Finley. Maybe we're seeing how that same system falls short when Rodgers isn't the same and Jordy Nelson is the only really good receiver.

If the route concepts need to change to adapt to the talent on hand, maybe that's a workable solution. Or maybe not, if the coach is too set in his ways. In my opinion, that seems to be the sticking point. Until Mike McCarthy is willing to look at a different way to run the passing game, the Packers may be stuck in decline mode. If I could, I'd tell McCarthy to watch video of two teams; the current Rodgers-led Packers and the recent 40 year old Tom Brady-led Patriots.

spot on. You could see Vikes DBs knew where target spots for the WRs' routes were and breaking to that spot. Rodgers is lucky he didn't throw 3-4 interceptions last night. Mike Zimmer knows what he's doing. he had those DBs very well-prepared. Of course, it's a lot easier when there is so little variety in an offensive scheme.

I don't think it's a variety rather a problem of the WR corps and timing. Back shoulder fades and lot of other components of this passing game have been about timing. You can see defenses aggressively pressing and having their hands all over the WR's. (see Waynes all night). The WR's aren't responding and Rodger's is trying to force it because of this. Need to run the ball more to open this up. I would like to see some more power football with Rip lead blocking.

just based on yesterday's game alone, i don't buy into that. i saw plenty of open WRs... the head scratcher is that the Packers will almost always go for the long play downfield on 3rd and short instead of just dumping it off short and moving the chains. i don't get that. it's like they bang their heads against the wall all the time. yesterday, the vikings LBs were playing close to the LOS most of the time. How about sending Cook or R. Rodgers just 5 yrds down and get a little dump off pass? Have those LBs back off. Problem is, I don't think #12 would've hit even those short passes yesterday at all...

I agree that the issues you highlight with the scheme exist but I don't see them as the only cause. AR needs to take responsibility too for his part in the failures too. If they don't fix it they are not going to be a playoff team. Going back to the Denver game last year they are 6 and 8.

I have another theory. There was a lot of open receivers, not only this game. Look at Jaguars game. Same situation. Problem is Aaron Rodgers starts to worry about his interception number that much that he become hesitant to throw the ball in tight windows. He become addicted to low interception number and need to be perfect at every throw. I miss a lot a guy who tossed the ball down to WR between corner and safety. Corner was sitting in disbelief after WR catch the ball and announcer said: "Guys this face expression on the CB face is how disbelief looks like!" That was TD to win SB XLV. And I remember two long throws against Viking that that guy slipped thru ears of the same Viking cornerback directly to the hands of WR named Jordy. Those 2 throws was made in 2 consecutive series for 2 TD.
I would like if someone can tell him that I do not care how much interception he will have (and he will not have large number) as he will continue to do those kind of throws, like those 2 (3) I described...
There is nothing wrong with Packers scheme, nothing wrong with WR, it is hesitation from the best QB in football history that making him under average player...
I'm so sad because of that!

I absolutely, 100% agree with you Croat.

Watching older Aaron Rodgers highlights, he's CONSTANTLY throwing tight passes in between two, sometimes three, defenders in a window the size of a lunch box. He's throwing balls to his WR's under tight man coverage. While he still had a propensity to buy time in the pocket, he also used to display an amazingly fast, decisive release at the bottom of his three step drop.

Rodgers has become far too worried about risk. He needs to throw the ball with timing and conviction again.

All packers fans should watch games from the 2010-2014 seasons again, and pay attention to how quickly Rodgers gets the ball out, how tightly covered his WRs often were, how he used to drop the ball in between the safety and the CB, how he drives the ball on his front foot, the accuracy and the anticipation.

It wouldn't be a Packers season without the "Rodgers doesn't have it anymore" panic.

Frankly I'm glad were getting it out of the way early this year.

Back to his Cincinnati days, Zimmer has always schemed Rodgers well and had the players on defense to execute. He built this Minnesota defense specifically to neutralize Rodgers and it has worked lately.

On top of that, this was the second straight road game after they played to total exhaustion last week in Jacksonville.

Doubly on top of that, it was the Minnesota home opener in their brand new dome--huge emotional advantage to the Vikings.

I can't wait to see Bradford try to repeat that in Lambeau in December.

The sky is not falling. Rodgers is still good.

Stafford - I have been the biggest Aaron Rodgers supporter there can be but he has not played a strong game at QB since early last season. Maybe he bottomed out last evening. In any case there are no excuses for the lack of execution against the Vikings. Plenty of defenses have been developed to neutralize Rodgers, but the point of game planning and execution is how to successfully attack the opponents defenses. The Packers are a professional football team, playing in the heat one week ago and then in a new stadium opener are not valid reasons for miserable play.
If they lose next week will we say they lost because they played the Vikings the week before? No excuses, show up and play. I agree with you that Rodgers is still good and the sky is not falling and it is only week 2, but losing a game when you play well and are beaten by the better team is one thing, losing a game that was there for the taking because your elite QB can't make a first down without a penalty in the first half and is making poor throws to open receivers is another and a cause for some reasonable concern at this early point in the season. Saying Rodgers is still good or this will get worked out does not make it so. It needs to happen on the field, just like it did not happen last night. Thanks, Since '61

**Again, I credit the Vikings defense**

Ask yourself:

How does Rodgers go from that amazing throw against the Jags to pretty much all of the passes against the Vikings?

Something fishy is going on.

Even his checkdowns looked horrible. He isn't diagnosing plays like he once did. Either there aren't any Hot Reads or Rodgers isn't looking their way. Remember the time teams used to be afraid to blitz?

We ask for separation - we get it - over/underthrows

We ask for a more athletic TE - we get it - 2/3 targets?

We ask for more slants - we get it - never used it again

My biggest problem with Rodgers isn't the fact that he's played poorly for quite some time. What I can't stand is his attitude. On the field, he acts aloof and seems to own the world. I don't believe I've ever seen him take blame for anything while playing. He acted like this towards MM last night as well. I seriously question Rodgers leadership at times. From what I've heard, Hundley is a much better team player. I'd love to see what he could do if he started just one game. Not saying we should get rid of Rodgers, or even bench at all him, but I think someone needs to send a message that he'd better pick up his play (and change his attitude).

Rant finished :-)

Collin_C: I agree with you! Best post here today IMO. Attitude is everything, AR seems to have situations out there to evidence that; over/under throwing, hesitation during the snap count, (!) throwing out of bounds on numerous occasions, (!) dressing down players on the line, sulking on the sideline, just a really sour attitude IMO, just so different from years past! I dearly hope he comes around and soon, but not holding my breath on this. My team has a serious, festering, problem with its QB that must be addressed now. Aloha.

Couldn't agree more, Denise.

And after reading what TJ Lang had to say last night after the game, I do think I can now guess one of the reasons why a certain OG is now playing for the Bears. Outspoken veterans on the team will not hesitate to be critical of Rodgers, especially when they know their own window is closing, and other, younger players will get extended, and that their time with the team and the chance to win it all could be gone soon. These are all proud players who want to win. If not all are working towards that goal, and have an overall sour attitude, then this isn't helping anyone. And maybe, just maybe, in order to avoid a locker room problem, a potential problem was removed, but not really the problem that should've been addressed... Just my opinion, but I do think things are becoming a little clearer, at least to me. Rather getting rid of an aging OG who will most likely not be extended and keep the franchise QB who the team wants to play with for a few more years, even though his play may be declining a little too. Since OGs are much easier to find than franchise QBs, one can find an OG with production dropoff not as big as going with a new QB. At least that may be part of the thinking here...

Maybe he is tired of GB and MM's predictable, one-trick pony offense. He may be tired of Tightwad Ted getting rid of good players and surrounding him with UDFA, bargain-bin specials. Maybe he's planning on doing what LeBron did when Cleveland failed to get the pieces necessary to win championships and bail. Maybe he wants to get to Cali and be closer to his sweetie in Hollywood...... Who knows?

" Maybe he's planning on doing what LeBron did when Cleveland failed to get the pieces necessary to win championships and bail."

On my initial read I entertained that. But then I realized we've won with less.

I don't know what's going on either, but I doubt it's just simply a "lack of execution". When's the last game Rodgers has been Rodgers? I don't mean a play or two. I mean for an entire game. The Chiefs game of last season?

I've never been a MM fan and would have parted ways with him long ago. Every year under him there is something that points to his lack of control of the team. Special teams sucks or there are to many penalties or the team can't tackle etc. Now there appears to be a coach and his QB not on the same page problem and if that is the problem that again points to poor coaching.
To me in regards to Rodgers it appears that he has lost confidence in his abilities. I always enjoyed how he would make defenders pay for any little mistake and put the ball in a window that no other qb in the league could. Now he holds the ball and gives defenders time to recover and appears to be second guessing and not reacting to what he sees. Or, maybe he should get back on the milk.

I stopped being an MM fan right after the 2011 debacle against the Giants in the 1st round. Such a wonderful season, so wasted! But, I've patiently waited all these years since, in hopes that MM would improve, but the loss to Seattle in the 2014 NFC Championship game really put the frosting on the cake for me, saying it's time to move MM along, but instead he gets a contract extension. (!) Now, it's becoming apparent IMO, that AR no longer respects nor wants to be coached by MM. We've got a grand canyon forming between the two. They better set things right between themselves and very soon IMO.

Two major changes in 2015 to the coaching staff and AR has been down hill since. Also MM is one of the least creative HC's in the game.
When Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy promoted Edgar Bennett to offensive coordinator in February 2015, it was merely the next, logical step in the coaching career of an assistant McCarthy has long respected. It wasn’t intended to be a statement on the importance of staff diversity.
Or Alex Van Pelt enters his fifth season with the Packers and returns to coaching quarterbacks, a group he led in 2014, following his role of quarterbacks/wide receivers coach in 2015. He was the team’s running backs coach in his first two years with the club (2012-13). He is entering his 20th NFL season and his 11th as an NFL assistant coach. Might these be a problem? My 2 cents...

Well, one thing is for sure, to be kind Rodgers is not at his best.

I credit the Minnesota defense. Zimmer has them clicking on all cylinders. They are a tough, disciplined bunch. Except of course the cornerback replacement who was getting burned all day except of course for his stumbling, bumbling interception.

Honestly, it puzzles me how opponents can have a guy like Diggs running in the middle of the field with the closet defender (Randell) 3 yards away? Having enough time to bake a cake, do figure eights, boil a 3 minute egg, etc. and with this so generous space, able to juke, weave, and pirouette like the hippos in Fantasia, for unbelievable YACS. Why we can't do that with our touted receivers is conundrum that this fellow can't figure out.

Rodgers must be thinking about how many receivers picked in the 4 thru 7 round it takes to make ONE Diggs!!!????

I said last year McCarthy should have been brought up on charges when he let Rodgers take a beating that no man should have to take against Arizona! His penguin-like Happy Feet dance steps started at after that game. His confidence is totally shot, defenders and viewers can see it in his eyes. How many times did he throw the damn ball over the head of his receivers yesterday? At least he didn't pile drive any passes last night.

I give him credit for the runs. It shows that his calf isn't the problem. The fact that we ditched one of his backside stalwarts isn't helping his confidence either.

Someone had the observation that we don't have a back that can break one for more than 20 yards. Isn't that the truth. When was the last time we had a bust a way run for the distance? That fact alone is a 3 yard less cushion for the DBs to sneak closer to the line.

I thought that Cook would be strong target up the middle but Rodgers hardly threw to him all night. Question: Is it play calling, Rodgers, or Cook? Seems to me that Callahan had no trouble finding Cook.

McCarthy/Clement just don't seem to have figured out how to change the patterns of the receivers...same ole, same ole....regardless of who the hell is in there.

Detroit should be just the placebo to get the fans off of Rodger's back, but that's just what it is, a fledgling opponent at home. And while I'm in the ball busting frame of mind: what was in the Packers mind to RESIGN Barlcey! It's totally befuddling to me. The guy is in for ONE fricken play and its like Macy's Black Friday, opening minute, turn-style. The Viqueen defenders must have been pulling straws to see who got to play across from him.

If I were Rodgers and saw Barclay coming in I would call for a time out, and ask McCarthy to be traded!

Yeah, I know: it is only the second game! But there is disconcerting track record of Bo Jangle quarterbacking, bad route running, dropped balls, fumbles, and questionable play calling that has this guy very, very, worried.

Zach - this offense is struggling for a number of reasons:
1. Aaron Rodgers is not playing his position with basic, QB fundamental mechanics? Not sure why? My best assumption is that he is hearing footsteps every time he drops back. Also, he seems too focused on moving the ball via penalties. Thirdly, he does not seem to be involved when he is off the field. Why isn't he looking at films on the iPad when he is on the sidelines or communicating with the OL and WRs?
2. OL has been good but needs to develop more consistency.
3. Where are Ty Montgomery and Abbrederis? Can we get Jared Cook more involved? Ripkowski anyone? We have weapons that we are not using, why?
4. Poor communications and TO management, why?
5. Penalties at key times in an offensives series.
6. We stop running the ball even when it is working.
7. Where are the screen plays and passes to RBs?

These are all coachable issues so maybe the question is, where is MM and the coaching staff?
It's only week 2 but our offense has more questions than answers right now. Thanks, Since '61

Weren't you the guy that was cautioning everyone about getting too worked up about a few negatives from Jacksonville, when we won the game? Something about how this was an up and coming playoff team on the rise, and they didn't resemble what they were last year? Don't get me wrong, I like your comments and all, but guys like you get me shaking my head when the evidence that was SO CLEAR, suddenly smacks you in the head, and then all of a sudden there's MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS!!! Come on dude - man up and just admit you were wrong!

Nothing is changing with this team short of a major turnaround or a coaching change. This group of core players and coach have become too comfortable with moderate success, and don't have the hunger to push themselves anymore. What we are seeing now is the same things as last year, and clearly Jordy wasn't the only problem. They have schematic problems on both sides of the ball, as I have been saying for months/years. Don't let the defense off the hook either, fact is, they had their chances to stop MN from scoring 4 less points, and they weren't able to do that either. There is no success in a loss, and a receiver setting all time franchise records against your team. This isn't getting fixed by waving some "practice magic wand". There's bigger problems here than meet the eye.

Assuming that this babbling has something to do with Jacksonville's performance yesterday , keep this in mind. The Jags travelled to the West Coast after a tough game against the Packers. Coast to coast travel is extremely difficult on NFL teams, especially young ones with a lot of new parts.

To the larger portion of the ramblings, one game does not diminish an educated opinion that the Jags are much improved. Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, Bortles, Yeldon, Julius Thomas, and Ivory are all above average or better. The defense added several good players. Their offensive line needs work, and Bortles needs to cut his INTs. Otherwise, Jacksonville is definitely up and coming.

Finwiz - sorry that I have confused you.
I was simply providing feedback to Zach's final sentence inquiring about why the Packer's offense is struggling.
Yes, I probably did say not to sweat the Jacksonville game because it was only week 1 and I will further say not to sweat the Vikings game because it is only week 2. The items that I have listed are all fixable problems. I still believe that the Packers will make the playoffs, unless they are plagued again with serious injuries. I never said anything about Jacksonville being a playoff team or better than last season. Quite frankly now that we've played them I don't know or care what they do the rest of the year so don't put words in my post to make your point whatever you think it is. You may be correct that nothing will change until Packers clean house but I will wait for the season to play out before I come to such a conclusion. I take the season one game at a time. There is no reason, even after the loss in Minnesota, as bad as it was, to give up on the team or the season. My post was just to state the issues/concerns that I see as of today and that they can be corrected. If they actually get corrected and how they get corrected is why there are still 14 games on the schedule. I have not suddenly come to the realization that the Packers are as hopeless as you believe. I was one of the first here to point out last season that Rodgers was not playing well after a hit he took during the Denver game. But that's all last season. This is a new season and we're starting from scratch. Yes, the offense has not played a crisp game since early last season but there is plenty of time left in this season to get the offense on track. If MM can't get the offense to execute effectively then he and/or his staff need to be held accountable at the end of the season. Until then one game at a time. Thanks, Since '61

It is not only Rodgers fault but 14 games with poor QB index are not exception ita s tren, taht continues. This stat just in from nfl.com : "Through two NFL Sundays, Aaron Rodgers and Case Keenum have something in common: They are the only QBs who have failed to gain 300-plus yards of total offense." Now ist only week 2 and they can imporve but I think as last season showed, MM and AR either dont want or cant change much the scheme or plays.

I remember for years whn Jay Cutler was ridiculed for his face expression and strange body language. But look at Aaron and his serios face dutring games and behavior on the bench. Looks very similar to Cutler in that regard. I dont know what is bothering him but it doesnt look like he is enyojng the game very much. I hope that togethet thew find a switch to make him into MVP verions again, but it will be hard.

All players, good or bad, go through it... the downside of a great career... unfortunately AR is getting there quickly... and TT did (does) nothing to get him the players he needs... the window is quickly closing (I'm afraid) ...

I think it may be connected to scheme and coaching. Teams have us figured out and I question whether our OC (Edgar Bennett). Has the skills to make the week to week and in-game adjustments. I point out that our offensive slide coincided with him being elevated to OC.

Wish we would consider bringing philben back in some capacity to help out. From what I recall, his game planning was very good and his second half game adjustments really good.

I was wondering what Philben was doing also....but I am afraid that he has too many dark memories with his son drowning in Oshkosh to ever come back to Green Bay.

Hell as far as coaching goes it wouldn't bother me to see a 68 year old Holmgren come out of retirement. And if Rodgers keeps playing the way he has it won't be long before we see Hundley and it's not because Rodgers is benched, with all the scrambling he's doing an injury is almost inevitable.

Sports psych 101 summery :
You sit 3 years behind the INT king of all time and you develope an aversion to throwing them. Thus 90% of throws are sideline and behind shoulder. Every NFL team now knows what's coming. New England did it with two 5'9" guys running slants. Please get this team a hipnotist to convince AR that it's ok to throw to the middle of the field. Oh, by the way. Why did we get Cook if you don't plan on using him Mike ?

Aaron is off, no doubt. But Adams is killing this team. Oh, he will make an occasional catch, but who wouldn't as often as the guy is thrown to? Bench Adams and this offense will look sooo much better. When Montgomery played WR before he was hurt last year, he was electric. Abbrederis has a fantastic camp and yet sits? Makes no sense. Offense is struggling and Adams keeps playing? I'm having 2015 season deja vu. It's sickening. Every time Janis is in the game he makes something happen. You WANT to see him with the ball. With Adams you cringe when the ball goes his way. Why does MM not see this? It is so incredibly obvious! Unless MM looks in the mirror and says "I am the problem" this team is sunk. And the odds of MM blaming himself are near zero. Therefore, 2016 will be like 2015. Mediocre at best. Probably worse because the players will lose heart.

I think everyone has been making excuses for Rodgers (bad play calling, slow receivers, no protection) for way too long. What I don' t understand is what the hell happened to our MVP? When is the last time we saw him stand in the pocket and deliver a strike in the face of an oncoming hit? It seems that he won't throw the ball unless the receiver is wide open. He always has been one to hold the ball too long, but now he just won't throw it. He is too worried about playing "perfect" and not just playing. This affects his accuracy and the offensive rythm. The constant adjustments and running every snap count to almost zero are maddening. I don't see any other QB doing this. But wait a minute, shouldn't they be bale to coach him out of this? Play calling is sooo predictable, it doesn't help. And God forbid they call him out on this subpar play. I am not giving up on Rodgers, but they need to make some serious changes. This is definitelly no longer a fluke, it is a sad reality.

People need to take AR glasses off and realize all the offensive problems are because he forgot how to play QB. Go back and watch Rodgers play in 2014 and u will see a totally diff QB. I'm sick of hearing receivers don't get open, the offensive line doesn't block, and play calling is the problem. They have very little to do with the offensive struggles. It's been 14 games since he had a 100 passer rating in a game, his carrier average is over 100 so obviously something has happened with Rodgers. If u watch all the other QB's play they take 3 or 5 step drops and get the ball out and throw to receiver. They don't have guys running wide open, they are throwing it in tight Windows. Just look at the throws Bradford made to digs and Rudolph on the td's. Those were tightly covered but Bradford made a perfect throw. Rodgers won't even throw that pass cause he thinks there not open and if he does he over throws them cause he accuracy is terrible cause he never steps into a throw and throws off his back foot every throw.. Rodgers is seeing ghosts and bailing out of the pocket way to early and not letting his receivers get open. He just starts running around the pocket trying to play school yard football every play. Big mike needs to sit down with Rodgers and watch tape from 10-14 and have Rodgers watch how he hung in the pocket and got rid of the ball in rhythm of the offense and then show him tape of 15-16 and how he doesn't throw the ball and bails out of pocket and throws off back foot and if he doesn't start playing in rhythm of the offense and playing fundamental QB play bench him and put hundley in and see what he can do cause we can't continue playing QB and offense this way. Cause I'm tired of hearing he will start playing better cause I've heard that for a year now and it hasn't been fixed.
