I don't think "smart" weighs into the clearance. He either clears or he doesn't. Keep in mind that they still need to activate him from IR and make a corresponding player move to open a spot for him. I don't know if there's someone ready to go on IR. Maybe they cut the Ulrick.

The "smart" part comes in how they use him.

I trully believe that there is not larger danger for Aaron than it would be if he is not playing with broken collarbone... And I have some medical education, btw...

So, I say if Aaron get medical clearance for playing football (those physicians knows physical risks of the football games), main question is do Aaron Rodgers want to play.

We must be spoiled as fans if we are actually debating this. Rodgers is healthy and we have a very good chance of making the playoffs... no brainer. Of course it’s smart for him to come back. Most franchises go all out in any attempt to make the playoffs. We have a shot so we have to take it. Playoffs aren’t guaranteed every season. Go pack go!

Every player in the NFL takes a risk of injury on every play of every game. Carson Wentz, JJ Watt, Andrew Luck, Shazier, and many others were all healthy when they suffered their season ending and in some cases career ending injuries.

Rodgers and the Packers know the risks. Rodgers wants to play because he is a professional football player and this is what professionals do in any industry or business.

He could get hit and suffer a completely different injury.

Sports is about winning and winning now. Slim as it is the Packers still have a shot for the playoffs and an SB. As long as they go for it 110% with everything they have on every play regardless of the score or the time remaining I can be OK with the results. "gradually fading chances"? Have to disagree with you there, Zach. Yes the road is tough, but winning out gives us a 92% chance at making the playoffs. Considering how hard it is to even get a ticket to the big dance any given season, I'm all for giving it our best shot.

I'm with the other commenters on the risk, too. If they cleared him, he's healed enough to play. Risk of re-injury is no greater than risk of any other injury. He's not paid to sit and watch!

Rogers could fall down the stairs in his home today I mean it's life people if it's meant to be that he plays then he's going to play and if it's meant to be that he doesn't play then he wont play ,but for right now they have cleared rogers to play. Jimmy johnson said, "failure is the shadow of greatness". If he goes in and wins the next three games then the medical staff and the coaching staff are all geniuses but if he goes in and something happens to him then we're going to gripe and complain that they shouldn't have put him in every player knows that it could be there very last game at any time.

I have read many spots that said he is at no more risk to re-injure his shoulder then he was Week 1.

The way I view it. If McKenzie (who notoriously doesn't clear people) was comfortable in clearing Rodgers, then I feel good about it.

I have also read that the odds of the Packers making the playoffs are around 90-93% if they win out. Well the only thing they can control is winning the games they play. Rodgers gives them the best chance to do that.

If we have a chance to make it to the playoffs, we have to go for it! It may not work out. we may not make the playoffs. But if there is a chance, I want to go for it with that chance.

Rogers could go in and break his right ankle what the heck does that have to do with his shoulder that they were worried about? You're worried about him injuring his shoulder but if he goes in and breaks the ankle then what do you say well we shouldn't have put him in at all, because he wouldn't have hurt his ankle even though we were thinking about his shoulder? No. So, just go in the game and play and I don't think I've ever seen the Packer medical staff clear someone that wasn't ready to be cleared and every game since the Pittsburgh game I was seeing Rodgers throw 50-yard bombs before those games.

If he's cleared then yes, he should play. It wouldn't be fair to all the other players that have been busting their chops to keep things afloat. Not sure that they will win the next three, but I wasn't very sure they could win 6 in a row last year and look what happened. With #12 under center, this team has a chance against anyone, anywhere.

If the doctor says it's safe then Rodgers playing is the biggest no brainier in the history of no brainers.

This is what we have good doctors for. The only people capable of assessing his physical condition and thus the risks are those who have the expertise and have examined him and his information. It seems that the notoriously conservative medical approach that the Packers adopt has cleared him. Therefore I assume that the risk of long term additional harm is considered negligible.

I for one think the packers will do better with him in then Hundley, hey we may have seen the last of Hundley for that matter if Rogers stays around un hurt for a few more years. I think the Pack saw enough of him to know, he aint heir apparent.

And I won't say that the Minnesota player that tackled Rodgers wasn't a dirty hit but I will say that I saw other players on other teams do the same thing they would grab the quarterback and drive them into the ground. I saw almost the exact same hit on Jay Cutler he came to the sidelines and I was worried about him holding his shoulder ended up his ribs were broken it was a clean tackle but the defender grabbed him and shoved him into the ground with his complete body weight I have also seen quarterbacks who used to slide and the players would just touch them but now whene the quarterback slides he is defenseless and the defense guy is coming in diving in to take off his head now you're seeing quarterbacks diving forward to where they could suffer a neck injury and that's the reason they were told to slide on their rear end in the first place basically what I'm saying is Rodgers only got hurt because the intent of the defensive player was to drive his shoulder into the ground or his head or anything he could and make the tackle to do anything they can to take Rodgers out of the game so the referees need to be watching this very carefully and they need to be instructed before the beginning of the game.
Basically if Rogers is going to get hurt it's because the defense wants him hurt and they're going to play dirty cuz they know Rogers could kill him at any moment with his passing. I believe it's going to be shootout time boys. You know we can't depend on our defense for nothing Dom Capers we're going to need a lot of points on the board because Dom Capers will give up at least 30 easy so we're going to need at least 35 points minimum

I am not a doctor and I do not know the real risk, other than what has been said. I think MM and TT realize he is their sole purpose for success for the past 10ish years. I think that played into the decision a lot.

Im a fan, so I want to win. I’ve also been a coach in my life, so I know that when your best player is available you play them. While I would prefer to see us finish outside the playoffs and get a better draft position, I really do enjoy how much heart this team has shown. I want our packers to be rewarded for their determination this season. I expected some of the players to give up this year and yet I cannot identify a single one who has done so. Get AR out there and see what we can do!
