Nagler: "I really just hope Jerry Montgomery's main job is to slap Dom when he calls a 2 man rush on 3rd and long."

Minor adjustment to that - at least when the D has been getting to the QB. And if you only rush three, there are plenty of guys to cover man-on-man. That should make it impossible for somebody to be sitting wide open.

Add this and I got my wishes made just after "The Catastrophe". Glad to see the team took care of these things asap. Now I can rest until opening kickoff.

Irrelevant question - did MM do this willingly or has this been discussed for a while and management now made it happen?

Really hoping Zook is not Slocum redux. You ARE your own coach, right Coach Zook?

This does not inspire confidence (from Demovsky):

"Asked what will be different about his special-teams units, Zook said: 'That's a good question. I'm not sure. Hopefully, we're a little more lucky than what happened to Shawn at times.'"

I read that too. Had the same thought.

So basically, you're hanging your hat on catching a few more breaks? Sounds legit.

I think it was probably more a polite, political answer as to avoid kicking Slocum on his way out.

Man, let's hope so. Demovsky's post about how Zook's Special Teams were always near the bottom of the Big Ten for IL has me officially concerned.

That's definitely more concerning than any quote.

Let's give McCarthy some credit here. I think it was not easy for him, and for all that's coming out of Lombardi Ave, it was his decision and not forced onto him. One can think whatever you like about the man, but he has shown now and in the past that he can embrace change and his ego is not as big as to not realize that he has to implement those changes. E.g. improving the running game, and not play-calling. So I hope some will finally give him his due.

Definitely not an easy descision to make a change like this, and not without risk. But something was going to have to change for them to take it to the next level and I'm glad he has pulled the trigger.
