Packers downgrade WR Geronimo Allison to OUT vs. Patriots
-- Green Bay Packers receiver Geronimo Allison played in one game in the month of October after fighting off a concussion and hamstring injury simultaneously.
November isn't off to a great start either.

After listing him as doubtful for Sunday night's meeting with the New England Patriots, the Packers officially downgraded Allison to OUT on Saturday. According to the team's release, Allison didn't travel with the team to New England either.
Allison is currently dealing with a hamstring and groin injury and was a limited participant in practice all week. The Packers didn't practice Friday, but the team declared him as a non-participant.
This primarily means the Packers will venture into Massachusetts with Marquez Valdes-Scantling as their No. 3 -- or No. 2 depending on how you'd schematically view it -- receiver, and he's already shown what he's capable of in his last three games.
After catching a 38-yard pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers against the Buffalo Bills in September, Valdes-Scantling has caught 12 of his 21 targets for 216 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He's averaged 18 yards per catch and 10.2 yards per target.
He's quickly given the Packers a dynamic deep-threat in their offense that could help them vertically press the defense downfield, which, in return, could have its own dividends in opening up the running game even further.
Allison has played in five games this season and caught just one pass against the Los Angeles Rams last week. Thankfully, the Packers aren't suffering from any shortage in their pass-catching department.
The Packers also added cornerback Tony Brown to their injury report, listing him as questionable against the Patriots.

Gronk will play, it's pretty much a given.
However the Packers are amazingly healthy, relative to the sea of injuries they normally have at this time of year, so despite the loss of Allison, they have a great chance of being one of only a few teams who can come out of Foxboro with a win.

Gronk will not play. Inactives have been announced and he's on the Pats list.

Sucks to not have option 4 in the passing attack. Geronimo is a good player. And you feel bad for him, as he's not getting a chance to answer the heat the rookies are bringing.
But I'd be far more worried if this were Davante or Aaron Jones or Bakh.

i have to say the fact J'Mon Moore has improved from Shame On Moore to C'Mon Moore is a real plus for him and the Packers receivers going forward. Improvement is always a good thing no matter how small it may seem at the time.

The talent is there on the depth charts at WR to cover the loss of Allison, but he will be missed. Allison is a good, dependable receiver and he has proven that this season. MVS certainly has the speed and skills to step in as the #3 WR. ESB is pretty good too. Looking forward to watching the game Sunday night.

This will be MVS's coming out party. Sucks to not have all weapons on hand, but at 6'4", with his speed, it's time to shine in prime time. I picked him up as a flex in one of my fantasy leagues.
Call me crazy, but I also had a dream last night that he had over 100 yds and a TD vs. the Patriots. Let's hope that dream turns into reality!

Raiders official Twitter account said "we have waived DE Bruce Irvin."
Per Adam Schefter, because Irvin didn't appear on the wire today, he can't officially be released until 4pm Monday.
Keep in mind this guy slipped in the draft due to off field concerns, and when Seattle declined his 5th year option tweeted, "F*** THAT OPTION."
This is also the same Bruce Irvin who started a brawl at the end of the 2014 Super Bowl. He is the opposite of everything the Packers look for character-wise.
Don't hold your breath.

Off topic question but do you any of you think the Packers should be completely done with Clay Matthews or bring him back in a reserve role? I personally think he has value coming in on pass rush situations similar to what guys like Julius Peppers, John Abraham, Elvis Dumervil, Dwight Freeney, and Robert Mathis have done towards the end of their careers. He could definitely do better than what Reggie Gilbert is doing in that role.

Agree. Clay simply can not be THE man, but he certainly can be one of role players you bring in for down/distance packages that are so commonly used. The problems is, does Clay still view himself as THE man?? If so, he will need a long off season and training camp without a contract offer to his liking to wake himself up to it.
I'd like him for another 1-2 year package sub at a team friendly salary. Otherwise, I'd rather move on.

ES Brown is a good receiver that can do as good or better than Geronimo. Packers are deep with WRs and have TEs that can get the job done. Rodgers needs to play the middle of the game like he does in the end of games...trying to comeback all the time. Looking for a complete game offense vs Patriots and a win going away for once.

I like Geronimo, I really do. I feel bad for him with this injury. It's going to cost him bigly. Here's why. He'll be replaced by MVS who is coming on like gangbusters. MVS will take his spot against NE and Geronimo will never get it back going forward. MVS will officially move ahead of him. The NFL is a brutal business and all about youth, results and availability. You get hurt and you might never play again. It was Brett Favre's greatest fear and it's why he has the all time streak for consecutive games played.

Only receiver missing action that would have an impact is Adams, plenty of passing targets available.
