Packers Daily Links: Aaron Rodgers Shares Stage with Bart Starr

At his annual MACC Fund charity fundraiser, Aaron Rodgers asked Bart Starr to join him for a speaking engagement. That and more in today's Daily Links...

On Tuesday evening, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers took part in his annual charity fundraiser in Milwaukee for the MACC Fund looking to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight childhood cancer. Among the highlights from the speaking engagement was the current Packers quarterback sharing the stage with legendary quarterback Bart Starr. "I do have a new role model, and that's Bart Starr," Rodgers is quoted as saying by Lori Nickel of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Also joining the players with Packers ties were golfer Andy North and former Bucks player Jon McGlocklin. Together they made a memorable evening for worthy charity endeavor, something that's becoming part of the legacy of Aaron Rodgers.

The annual Packers Tailgate Tour got underway Tuesday, and as the bus was getting ready to leave Green Bay, team president Mark Murphy made headlines when he mentioned a former Packers quarterback Brett Favre. When asked about the questions he's sure to receive about Brett Favre while on the tour, Murphy responded, "I think each year it’s lessened a little bit. My first year was 2008, so we actually thought we might see Brett along the tour. I envision someday he’ll be on this with us.” Until the Packers retire Brett Favre's number, Favre will remain a topic of conversation amongst Packers fans. I get the feeling plans will be set in motion to get this done sooner rather than later. It might not happen in time for the 2013 season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen by 2014.

More on Mark Murphy and Brett Favre comes from Fox Sports Wisconsin, ESPNMilwaukee.com and the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

The player with the highest profile on this year's Tailgate Tour is probably Randall Cobb, so it wasn't surprising to see so many media outlets publishing articles on the up-and-coming Packers wide receiver yesterday. “I really don’t think I’ve peaked yet," Cobb is quoted as saying by Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee.com. "I’m 22 years old. I’ve got a lot of learning still to do. I have a long way to go and I just hope I continue to get better over the next years." At 22, there are plenty of rookies in the NFL that are older than Cobb who is now entering his third season in the NFL. It's scary to think about what he can accomplish if he just continues to improve.

More on Randall Cobb comes from the Journal Sentinel and the Press-Gazette.

Running back Alex Green also gained some attention on the Tailgate Tour, but he publicity he received was more about the new running backs the Packers drafted than Green himself. “I thought it was great. Best for the team,” Green is quoted as saying by Wes Hodkiewicz of the Press-Gazette. “Last year, I didn’t do anything too good in the running game, so I think it was a great thing for us to get back out there, make a step in the draft and help the team win football games.” Green is trying to make the best of a tough and awkward situation. If he has any hopes of making the 53-man roster, he has to start by showing he's fully recovered from an ACL tear that appeared to affect him for most of last season.

Cornerback Jarrett Bush also joined the Tailgate Tour as ESPNMilwaukee.com shares some thoughts from the defensive back.

President Mark Murphy talked about the Packers' finances with Fox Sports Wisconsin.

The first stop on the Tailgate Tour was at a local high school. The Packers official website and Fox 11 tell more about the event.

After the high school, the Tailgate Tour paid a visit to the Children's Hospital in Neenah, Wis. as noted by Packers.com and 620 WTMJ.

The evening concluded with the tailgate party and event in Oshkosh with a brief synopsis from Packers.com and pictures provided by the Oshkosh Northwestern.

Kicker Mason Crosby talks to the Journal Sentinel about his role in the Vince Lombardi Golf Classic.

Former Packers quarterback Randy Wright talks to Fox Sports Wisconsin about the youth camps he does.

Mike McCarthy might get that street named after him yet. Apparently it's Ashland Ave.

Non better than those 2 QB's on and off the field. You see too little mention of the "good guys" in pro sports anymore - real role models. It drives me crazy that another class act in Wisconsin, Steve Stricker is basically shunned by ESPN. Even during the time he was the #1 player in the world if he was not leading an event they did not even list him under "notables". On the other hand Tiger, a guy who bragged about unprotected sex with porno stars and the most fined PGA golfer for swearing and throwing clubs is ESPN's role model.

Its about ratings dude. ESPN doesn't put an emphasis on Stricker, cuz he is largely unknown to everyone. Tiger draws people to watch golf and even just to watch SportsCenter. Its hardly just ESPN, all the networks need to do what they can to get ratings. People see Stricker on a Golf tournament or highlites and they are wonder "who is this guy"?

Love Stricker's new Avis commercial. Focuses on his good guy image and is hilarious.

Murphy envisions Favre on the tour? What is he smoking?

Murphy still is still concussed from the 48-47 Packer's vs Redskin's game. I thought John Fabray or Mike Reinfeldt would be the successor to Harlan, the reason the proposed successor is gone and opened the door for Murphy is still kept under lock and key.

If you're referring to John Jones, it's no secret that he had some major health issues before resigning. They were no small matter.
