I'd like to see Hyde star in the 3rd remake of "Converting to Safety". I think it would be a better show than the Darren Sharper version but probably not as good as the LeRoy Butler version. The Antuan Edwards version was gawd awful.

Sharper and Edwards weren't really CB's. They looked at them briefly at CB, but both were more or less drafted as Safeties. Almost every scout thought that Edwards would be a much better Safety than CB, and Sharper was drafted to replace Eugene Robinson. Butler is the only one that was really considered a true CB. And even Leroy played both CB and Safety at FSU.

The Packers at least paid lip service to all those guys being CBs when they first arrived. Whether it was just lip service or they really believed it is a debatable point, for sure.

No doubt all did arrive at GB with many thinking they were destined for Safety in the NFL

Until this point, Hyde is no different. I hope they do move him this offseason. He's too slow to be a starter at CB, IMO. He does have the instincts and playmaking ability to play Safety.

I agree they paid lip service to them as CB. All I think it really was tho was lip service.

I hope like hell the move Hyde to safety. IMO its easily his best position in the NFL long term. He makes a decent enough dime CB and can still be in that role if he moves to safety. His instincts, playmaking tackling and quickness make him a prefect fit at Safety.

And now that I think back a little more, I recall a lot of chatter about Mike McKenzie being another college CB that would have to move to Safety in the NFL. Except that he showed right away that he could be effective outside.

In Collins draft year, most scouts were trying to project him as an NFL CB due to his speed and athleticism, even tho he only played Safety in college.
