It was several! I was especially impressed by our biggest D lineman, #99 J Ford, 6'5 338#. He's awfully fast for such a big man! #90 Luke Ness Monster showed some speed. As predicted sheer bullrush isn't enough in this league and he needs to add skills.

Our O line also kept the pocket clean for a large portion of the game, which was good to see especially against a very good team. Even if we played #1 more while they sat most of their starters.

I saw a 4.55 time for him. I think he looked even faster than that.

He's also our second biggest RB behind Dillon. This might give him an edge in pass pro that MLF has said is a major factor for RB #3.

I don't know what his 40 time is, but he was obviously faster with a football under his arm than any of the guys trying to catch him. I think long touchdown runs are some of the most exciting plays in sports because it takes several seconds to unfold . And they're kind of rare....how many 50+ yard TD runs happen every year? Does anybody know?

I don't know why this got only downvotes. Carlson has been bad. He has been bad in practice and now in a preseason game. This should be a meritocracy. Carlson needs some competition - Tout Suite.

do you mean #75 Rhyan? Somebody else said they thought he played poorly. He was on the field a lot, I wouldn't give him a bad grade but personally I couldn't see enough to compare him to Newman. I think everybody here would like to see Newman gone, I just want to see him clearly and convincingly beat by 5 first.

From our safeties, #6, 20, 30, 34, 36 and even 48 made good plays. 36 made a GREAT play! Not quite an int but still. That's the entire position group except for 26 Savage and 38 Gaines who is now listed as a slot CB. I think Savage did not play?

If none of that "stood out" to you then you have high expectations, and I think they lived up to them pretty well for an exhibition game. I especially liked seeing our DBs meeting LBs at the TE :)

Kraft could be the next Jace Sternberger, another draft crush wunderkind turned into just a guy by the magic of pro football. The other TEs looked better.

#9 was covered more deliberately than anyone else on the team! That's his role. It takes pressure off somebody, somewhere. And he still made completions. We moved the ball well, including passing. I don't have the stats but somebody here does and they disprove your claims.

When he was first picked I said #9 was perfect to take over the MVS role and I still do: even when not targeted, MVS helped the whole team greatly by requiring the opposing defense to send their fastest guy to try to cover him. Spreading out the defense opens up somebody, somewhere. The sheer stress on the defense helps, even when they do cover everything well. His "route tree" was limited to straight go routes until the last half of his last season in GB. His career reception rate is 50%.

#9 came in on day 1 better than that; an actual route tree and a higher reception rate. His main role with the team is still to stress the opposing defense, spreading it out, and helping somebody else get open. At least that's the strategy I'd like to see used. I hope JL10 only targets him when he's actually open. We have lots of plays using 4 and 5 receivers, and lots of depth at all the skill positions to surprise opponents all season long.

How is Goodson's shoulder? Can MLF keep coming up with GREAT new plays on a weekly basis? That's a Bill Belichek specialty. Can our offense retain everything so they don't have to repeat it during weekly practices during the regular season so they can concentrate on new plays designed to win specific matchups on the schedule? That's very demanding on a bunch of rookies, and also a great test of MLF. That's the NFL.

This could be a great season! Even if we only get 6 wins, development over next year and truly contending in 2025 is still on the menu and nothing last night removed that possibility. Including production from our TEs. #84 Davis went down with a shin injury. [ETA: torn ACL. Season ender. Hopefully doesn't end his career] Kraft should be able to learn to hang onto the ball but that was not an interception, his knee was down with full control and possession.

MLF did make two errors on challenges, but both were very close calls. Neither were "ridiculous" mistakes. Johnson looked like he intercepted it; the refs eventually got that one right. Kraft was NOT an interception, and MLF failed to challenge it.

You don't at all "know" that multiple games will be decided by a FG. It's reasonable to expect that sticking with #17 costs us at least 1 W due to missed FGs. Although last night makes losing by missed extra points seem more likely? That should be correctable via sheer mechanics. Also, it's not reasonable to think they even try to go all season without even a backup on the PS. Seems they're trying to give #17 all the reps possible throughout preseason.

If anybody's likely to break the league record for longest FG, it's this guy. Taking the time and effort to develop his accuracy is worth it! If there's ever a season to risk missed FGs, it's this one. Yes, it's a risk.

Notice that #41 Whelan also had two short punts, one of those I'd call shanked. He's got a big leg too but is less consistent than #17. He's also the clear #2 behind #16, IMHO. Just because O'Donnell's more consistent.

I'd like to take that bet, but I don't know what a good percentage might mean. And then you threw in "capable of winning", and that takes it to another level, because I have no idea of what that means.

A good FG unit probably improves the w/l record as much as a good QB does, as opposed to an average one. We've had a good FG unit for a long time and he helped us win a lot of games and didn't cost us very many losses. It would be easy to bring back Crosby, but how does that improve the team for the future? At some point, everybody has to move on, and this is as good a time as any to secure a good FG unit for the next several years.

If it comes down to the end of a game depending on a FG....you should have played better so that didn't happen. That's a common answer, and it's true. Being two scores up in the fourth quarter is different than two scores down so you don't want it to come down to the last play, so you can get boned by an official (Fail Mary) or some incredible freak play (Hail Mary).

Carlson could be very good, but he needs a year on the PS and the extra time with Biasachi.

Expected...from every NFL team in Preseason. Most players are still learning how to execute the playbook on the field after 2 weeks of practice.

They just dominated a well rostered playoff team. And did so with blocking and tackling. Works for me in August!

What Davis did Lewis can’t in terms of STs. Lewis excelled as an extra OL, Davis was asked to be more mobile and supposedly to be a dual threat this year. We’d already decided to go without a Lewis type apparently. First up I’d the 6’8 Allen, who possibly had the best run block of the night, coincidentally.

WW, I doubt there is cap space for a veteran TE. Considering #44 & 81 as fullbacks we have the two rookies and #49 Allen at TE. This might change the plan to resurrect the FB role?

A different way to skin this cat is since Mercedes Lewis was a 6th O lineman, use ... an actual O lineman. Crazy thought I know; we have 2 under 300#.

I don't think the Packers are kicking themselves over not re-signing the 5th oldest active player in the NFL.

This is not an indictment of Lewis' value as a player. I think he's an asset still. However, there is zero question when looking at this Packers roster that they are attempting to build a team for then next decade, not the next 2 years.

Pats should be a completely different situation, hopefully our O line can keep JL10 safe for as much time as he needs to establish a connection with every possible target he might throw to this season. If he does all that and they want him to sit out against Seattle? I'd be ok with that.

The other guy regularly threw uncatchable balls, too. Usually at players' ankles. But he was the GOAT so nobody talked about it.

There will always be throws that get away from you, there will always be mistakes, and downs you wish you had another crack at. Physical mistakes, the old guy used to say, you can live with the physical mistakes. The mental mistakes are the ones you need to learn from and be concerned about happening in the future.

I figured they'd pass much more than during the regular season so I wasn't surprised. Of course a vulnerable receiver is at risk but the rules have changed a great deal to protect them; run plays have greater risk of injury. Maybe. Theoretically.

#33 in for one play and done for the night. #28 a little more. Our smallest RB out with an injured shoulder which could mean anything from no loss of playing time to surgery that loses all or most of the season. I didn't see him get hurt and hope he's ok. Same for our two biggest O linemen down to ankle injuries. I saw Tenuta's and hope it's not a high ankle sprain ...
