If you play the starters at all just one series. No padding stats by anyone, or trying to ensure MVP. Remember Rodgers claims he doesn't need pre-season and it is a waste. If Rodgers plays the whole starting offensive line needs to play and protect him. Letting his toe heal would be a good idea as well since he brings it up constantly.

Remember the last game of 2017 against the Lions when the Packers were eliminated already from the playoffs? Rodgers wanted to play which impacted Tim Boyles development, and Rodgers unnecessarily ended up with a concussion? At least his 2nd concussion as a pro that could have consequences later in life, as well as impact the longevity of his career should he have another concussion or two.

Let's be smart and not have injuries to key players unnecessarily for playoffs, and let's allow Jordan Love and others an opportunity for development and for evaluation by Packer staff as this offseason is going to be the most important offseason in GB in years. Who stays and who goes?

Injured players trying to come back after extended time away should play at least a quarter and most likely one half a game at minimum if we expect them to realistically contribute during the playoffs.

When I was a yoot, before I even had a drivers license, the Lions beat us 40-0 on opening day and 20-0 on the last game of the season. Forget resting our starters. I've been waiting 50 years for payback .

But seriously, yeah, of course we'll rest them. Two weeks of rest before our first playoff game will make sure that if we lose, it won't be because we're tired. It's a luxury.

I completely agree with you Leatherhead. I’ve never believed in resting your starters; play at least a quarter, but more like a half. Our biggest worry is when/if COVID will strike.

I think the Packers have paid back the Lions for those two 1970 games several times over and long ago. Just two years after those shut-outs the Packers whipped the Lions 33-7 enroute to the NFC Central title in 1972 at Lambeau, shutting out Detroit until the final minute. In the two seasons following the Packers did the Lions 2-1-1, the lone loss by 3 pts.

I think the starters who are injured but still playing should play sparingly or rested all together and allow them a chance to get healthier. And the ones who are coming off the injured reserve list should play a few series to see how they are progressing and shake off a little rust. The opportunity to get healthier is a good idea since the playoffs will offer a much higher level of competition. Taking a chance of getting a more serious injury at this point in the season could end up being a quick exit from the playoffs.

Play to win and play the starters. There's no greater risk of injury in this game than in any other during the year. Why not hold out or limit starters in the season opener in case any one gets hurt and misses the year!

Injuries are more apt to happen when you don't have the regular teams out there on offense, defense and special teams. Guys don't know or do their jobs as usual and they get hurt or get someone else injured by a screw-up.

They have a bye coming so if the issue is rest they'll get one for the next two weeks. Three weeks off and the team loses its edge and momentum and it may not be easy as a light switch to turn it back on in a Divisional playoff round.

The Packers sat regulars in 2011 at Detroit and when they came back 3 weeks later against the Giants they weren't the same team they had been during the season.

What they do need to do is double down on their covid prevention protocols. Nobody better test positive coming out of the bye or any week between postseason games until after the Super Bowl.
