Mike McCarthy and Beard Make Appearance At NFL's Combine
The Green Bay Packers coach met with reporters in Indianapolis and did his best to not answer anything.

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy met with reporters this afternoon in Indianapolis during the NFL Combine. Here are a few takeaways.
- After praising Scott Tolzien, McCarthy made clear how excited he is to see Brett Hundley in year two. Reading between the lines, it sure seems like Mike is expecting Hundley to be the primary backup to Aaron Rodgers next year.
- Jordy Nelson was asked about a lot. Mike praised his work ethic and his importance to the offense. Both Mike and Ted indicated they don't expect any delay in Jordy being a full participant at the beginning of training camp, and indeed they expect him to be somewhat active in OTAs and Mini Camp.
- OTAs and Mini Camp may be a bit quieter for Ty Montgomery, however. McCarthy indicated he's progressing nicely, but indicated he didn't expect the second year receiver to be ready for any kind of on-field participation until at least the start of training camp, and perhaps even a bit after that.
- McCarthy also spoke on the need to get new players, be it rookies or free agents, into the building as soon as possible to start teaching them "The Packer Way" in reagrds to how players are expected to handle their buisness while a member of the Green Bay Packers.

Monty won't be ready till training camp at the earliest? Did we ever get word on the exact extent of his injury? Seems like the world's most severe ankle sprain.

That would be a possible reason why they may look at WR in the draft after all...

It's moments like this that make me wonder if there is a curse involved. Seems whenever we get a young player, and he surpasses our expectation, a lingering type injury pops up. Just hope it's a matter of being cautious.

For some reason I can't recall reading anything about this surgery, seems it was kept kinda quiet. Then I googled it and several articles popped up, Hmmmm. I don't like the sound of the damge he had and now I'm starting to hope he's not one of those that will be injured often. He was nicked up most of his Senior Season at Stanford, never being completely 100%. I for one really like this guy, think he could do really big things in the Packers including those sets they use with Cobb in the backfield. I think those plays run with Montgomery might be even more successful than they were with Cobb. Heal fast young man!!!

Wonder if McCarthy saw enough of Tolzien last year to know he wouldn't be the backup.(??)
That sucks, I would have liked to have seen Tolzien stay backup - gotta love those UW products.
