Logan Hall NFL Draft Prospect Profile and Scouting Report

NFL Prospect Profile: Logan Hall, DL, Houston

Name: Logan Hall

School: Houston

Year: Sr

Position: Defensive Line

Measurables: 6’6’, 283 lbs.

Stats:

General Info:

Hall grew up in Oklahoma before moving to Belton, Texas, where he attended Belton High School.

He racked up 54 tackles and ten tackles for loss as a senior, and committed to play for Houston at the college level as a three-star recruit. Offers from Colorado State, Toledo and Tulsa were also on the table.

Hall’s role with the Cougars grew throughout his four seasons and in his senior year, his production spiked as he tallied six sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

Positional Skills:

Strengths

Hall is an interesting prospect in that his physical makeup, combining both size and athleticism, allows him to line up in different spots, whether it be as a defensive end or a defensive tackle.

He grades out as an above average athlete whether viewed as a tackle (98th percentile) or an end (73rd percentile).

When watching Hall’s tape, one word that comes to mind is: ‘power’. He is really physical versus both the run and the pass.

Against the pass, Hall has the ability to bull rush a center back into the quarterback. He generates good ‘knock back’ with his initial blow and possesses strong hands.

In the run game, especially when lined up more centrally, Hall can mess up the picture for the ball carrier and is also capable of being a ‘clogger’, holding double team blocks without giving up much ground.

Beyond just raw power, Hall displayed some explosion to fire off the snap of the ball quickly.

He possesses mobility as well as the motor and aggression evaluators will be looking for.

Hall has experience on special teams and blocked a field goal in his sophomore season.

Another appealing aspect of Hall is that he doesn’t turn 22 until the week before the 2022 NFL Draft.

Weaknesses

While Hall occasionally showed the ability to use his hands to beat his opponent, he is not what you would call a skilled or ‘finesse’ rusher at this time.

There were instances on tape when he struggled to shed blocks and make a play on the ball carrier.

Hall can also be guilty of being too aggressive at times, which is something NFL competition could take advantage of.

There will be questions as to the best way to use Hall, and the team who drafts him will need to have a plan for how to get the most out of his skillset.

Fit with the Packers:

Hall would add some sizzle to a Packers’ defensive line group which is currently lacking in that department.

He could be used in a variety of different spots, and could pair well as a complement to the skillset of Kenny Clark.

The Packers tend to lean towards younger prospects with upside in the early rounds of the draft, and Hall would certainly fit that specification.

Hall could be on Green Bay’s radar as a potential pick in the second round.

A good player who we'd have to spend one of our first four picks for. With Clark, Reed, Lowry and Slaton ahead of him (and yes, as a 21 year old rookie, he'd be behind all these men to start)

I'm just not seeing the Packers doing this. I think there's a stronger case to be made for getting a 3rd safety or 3rd Edge instead of a 5th DL.

I’m not seeing it either. There are way better options. Way better.

You overvalue what they have I think. Hall would instantly be an upgrade over Lowry at 3T and would make a solid rotation with Clark and Reed in sub package situations. He could also eat some snaps at DE in certain situations. He's a different cat than anyone in the DL group they have now.

I'd really like to see the Packers come away with one of the top 5 IDL in this draft. But Gutey doesn't seem to have the proclivity of taking IDL early so I'm not expecting it.

On the other hand, Reed and Lowry are in the final year of their contracts and talented big men are hard to find

I've seen Hall listed as an Edge. He's rather large for that, but it does indicate his versatility.

If you check out TGR's draft attempt (where he invites others to post their simulator mock drafts) you will see that in my draft he was my choice at pick 59. I could have had Wyatt or Winfrey earlier, but preferred Hall.

People had him at Edge because he played at 265 lbs last year, he was up to 288 at Houston's pro day last week. He played all over for them last year but mainly at 3T, to me the Packers biggest need at IDL. 24 snaps at NT, 376 snaps at 3T, 85 snaps at 5T, 21 snaps at Edge and even 7 snaps as an off ball LB.

Watched his tape. If he can be taught to fight off a double team this young man could be All-Pro. He has the speed/strength that the majority of Packers interior DL lack. Would be a strong addition to the Packers if either of the Georgia tackles are gone in the 1st round. Packers need to focus on interior DL and ILB for the defense. These are the two glaring D weaknesses for the past decade+.

Interesting prospect, but only a one-year starter at Houston. Great athleticism and big upside, but a bit of a "tweener" on the DL and would undoubtedly be moved around. I wouldn't be upset if the Packers selected him, but right now I'd prefer more of a traditional nose with more experience.

Cowboys Dan Quinn likes him to replace Gregory on the edge .

Hall and Travon Walker are probably the two best "5 Tech" guys in this draft. There just aren't any this year who can take on double teams AND win regularly as pass rushers. Jordan Davis SHOULD be, but I don't consistently see it on tape.

I don't think many teams will want Walker taking on double teams. I think he'll be a 4-3 DE that gets some snaps at 3T on passing downs. Teams are going to want to let that peacock fly!

If the Packers believe Hall can contribute as a DT on a 3-4, he may be worth a 2nd as he has the frame to put on more lean mass and is an outstanding athlete.

If Gutey planning to stand up the DT to play edge the way TT did so often...hard pass. Too many good OLBs and pure Edge rushers in this draft who can help the Packers off the Edge now and won't need to learn a new position.
