One thing the troubling guard situation brings to light is the idea of pass protection or lack thereof for the Packers offense against whomever they end up facing a week from Saturday. And something I was thinking about last night was the fact that if Tony Moll and Daryn Colledge are our interior offensive lineman flanking Scott Wells, you can just about forget seeing the 'Big Five' formation in the playoffs, or at least until Spitz and Coston are back from injury. We all know how Colledge looks when exposed one-on-one with even journeyman defensive tackles on 4-12 teams, let alone starters on playoff squads. And heaven help us if we are treated to the sight of Tony Moll trying to protect Favre without tight end or halfback help.
