Jason Taylor Trade Still In the Works?

Buried over at Pro Football Weekly's latest 'The Way We Hear It', is the contention from one Dolphin 'team insider' that Bill Parcell's recent declaration that there was zero truth to the rumors that Taylor would be traded this off season is a complete fabrication. It's interesting to note that they mention that Taylor might be traded for two picks, namely a 2nd and 4th round pick, which is exactly what we had heard rumored earlier.

I understand Packer fan's reticence to bring Taylor in. He's old and didn't look very effective last year. But he did happen to play on the worst team in the NFL, and people have to remember, he is one year removed from being the league's Defensive Player of the Year. He still has talent, more than anyone outside of Aaron Kampman at the defensive end position on the Packers' defensive line. Think about bookends of Taylor and Kampman, with Pickett and Harrell stuffing the run on early downs and Jolly and Jenkins playing tackle on passing downs. Add KGB coming in off the bench, with perhaps Kampman swinging inside, and you start to see the possibilities that would exist. As I've said till I'm blue in the face, the only way this team wins a championship with Bob Sanders as defensive coordinator running this scheme is if the Packers can get some incredible pressure from their front four. Losing Williams to add Taylor makes more than enough sense with the additional pressure Taylor would bring off the edge, and he plays the run better than Jenkins or KGB.

Yes, it's a pipe dream. But it's one of the few pipe-dreams that make sense this off season.

I like it - not for a 2nd and 4th but I'd give up a 4th
