Gut Reactions: Wild Card Weekend vs Washington

Aaron's gut reactions from the Packers' win over Washington

  • There has been an Awakening. Have you felt it?
  • Knew Peppers would come alive a bit against Moses.
  • I know Hyde got beat a bunch by Reed, but honestly, anyone the Packers would have thrown at him would have been torched a bunch. Thought he did a good job battling all game long.
  • Loved using Cobb as a half back in base looks and running traditional running plays with him. Think they surprised Washington a bit by not running strictly boundry/spread stuff.
  • As well as the defense played, Capers being content to play soft zone at the end will never sit well with me.
  • Rodgers created production with the hurry up offense in the second quarter kind of in the same way he created production with the hard count earlier in the year. Whatever works.
  • 5 sacks. As Corey said on Transplants, pass rush was key to a winning performance.
  • I was yelling "QB Draw!!!" at the TV right before the QB draw.
  • Speaking of pass rush, loved the stunt by Matthews when he came screaming around the right side.
  • And speaking of Behnke, did you see him in the endzone? What a stud.
  • After a shaky opening, what a job by JC Tretter standing in there. He wasn't an All Pro by any means, of course, but he played a very solid game.
  • For those of you who love it when I pick against the Packers, don't worry. I still won't be picking them to win a game again this year.
  • Nice to see that fun moment between Rodgers and McCarthy.
  • How about that move Abby put on that dude in the endzone?
  • Hate to see Adams hurt after last week and then what he did today. Starting to show the flashes we've been waiting for.
  • Packers are playing with house money in Arizona next week.
  • Go Pack Go.

The biggest difference about this game was the upgrade at left tackle. If this line continues to play as well as it did today, then there really is a chance.

IF we are have all our CBs and avoid turnovers. That AZ passing offense is better than Washingtons. And they have a running game and a defense to go with it.

Gonna be tough. But I'm excited to see it.

Packers D did ok against AZ. If Shields, Randall and Rollins all return, they can contain them. Not to mention, they have the tape they need to correct everything that they did wrong. If you ask me, I do think the chances are higher than you think.

Great to see the offense get back in sync, but let's pump the brakes. This Redskins team beat ZERO teams that finished above .500. Not trying to troll or be a wet blanket, but there is a huge difference in the quality of the teams remaining now. We're going to need to play our best games of the year from here on out. Getting Bahktiari and Shields back next week is going to be critical. Let's hope that an underdog mentality can carry us through next week too!

The Green Bay Packers players and coaches- they should probably pump the breaks, because their being overconfident could have an affect on future performance.

But us fans? To hell with it, be as overconfident as you like, it has zero impact on what the Packers do or don't. That's why I love being a fan, my cockiness, ineptitude, and laziness has no negative results on the field of play.

Arizona is probably feeling pretty overconfident right now about a rematch with the Packers - and that may just affect their performance as well. I attended that 38-8 butt kicking in Phoenix and the Cardinal fans were incredibly ungracious (not as bad as Bengals fans though...). Karma, karma, karma.....

While I'm inclined to agree based on this game, having him keeps the cohesiveness of that unit intact, and it was arguably considered that it was the best the line has been since Clifton/Wahle/Flanagan/Rivera/Tauscher at the start of the year.

The problems on O were solved once Rodgers finally got out of his funk! And he did not look good the 1st Q at all. But somehow, turned it around.

But D won that game. I thought this was one of the best games Nick Perry ever played. That Washington LT is a solid player. Perry dominated him at times.
Young guys stepping up. Love it.

Now bring on the Cardinals! GO PACK GO. Had 3 6packs today during the game. Need to go to bed now. Have a good one

It sure did seem like Rodgers' attitude made a world of difference, didn't it?

The difference in the way the ball was coming off his hands before and after the first Q was shocking, I haven't seen passing as crisp as that since the bye week.

If he can get his deep accuracy back on track.. Watch out.

Great performance by the defense and the young secondary. Hopefully Adams is back next week and can keep up what he started today. Hopefully the offense keeps playing this kind of football instead of just winging it deep all the time. Gutty performance by Lacy who is playing with a hurt rib.

Sloppy? Watch it again. He had the Wash D spinning in circles. It was windy as hell, the one long pass to Cobb sailed. When he put zip on it, it cut through the wind. The long Lacy run, he checked out of a play, watch him pat his ass, telling Lacy where to go. AR won this game, and Cobb was great too.

Getting a healthy Bakh means we have depth on the OL with Tretter freed up. We do need Rollins and Randall healthy, and/or the return of Shields.

Best thing I saw was less happy feet from AR and it seemed like he has his eyes downfield more this game.

"As well as the defense played, Capers being content to play soft zone at the end will never sit well with me."

Make a mental note to try and remember games like this next time you're about to get upset at the 3-man rush. Normally we only remember this kind of thing when it fails. Soft zones have been working in the red zone all year and they worked again today. I'd have prefered more aggression in the non-redzone portions of the drive but up 3 scores I can deal, especially given it worked perfectly.

So we struggled against a bad team for another half a game. At least the resurrection came in the second half. I'm still gonna vomit if I see a bunch of y'all running around here acting like we're anything but huge underdogs next week. Now it goes without saying that the only conceivable reason I would ever say that is because I hate the team and secretly am a Bears fan, but seriously: *cautious* optimism is a thing. I promise you that it is, you can look this stuff up.

This team can beat anybody of they show up for 2 quarters. Today they showed up for 3!

WE CAN BEAT THE CARDINALS!

They beat us before because 1: Aaron's INT, 2: Stark's fumble after the half , then 3: The wheels came off, because we didn't have anymore Ts.

If we can protect the football, have at least one T on our active roster and SHOW UP for 2 quarters, WE CAN BEAT THE BEST TEAM IN THE NFL next week.

Great, great win.

After the rocky start to the game it was like someone finally found that hidden switch on the offense. They turned on the offense and never turned it off.

Let's face it, the real season began this weekend. What happened during the regular season really doesn't matter once the playoffs start.

I had a feeling about this game. I predicted the Packers to win 33-20. Not to bad of a prediction.

No matter what happens moving forward it was great to see this team play exactly how we expected them to play all season in this game.

Great win, let's enjoy this one.

-Great defensive play by LaDarius Gunter.

-Davante Adams stepped it up today.

-James Jones was solid. He usually is, imo. #hoodie

-Cobb showed up today too.

-The biggest thing was Aaron got right. He's still throwing off his back foot and missing open guys, but he really pulled it together today and actually looked happy.

-This is a very solid D. It's been scorched at times this season, but they fight hard and they really got some pressure today.

-Perry was giving that LT fits, and he's pretty good.

-Left some turnovers on the field. Got one though, huge play.

Good play by Gunter to get the pass defensed. But he was beat clean by the WR who had a good step on him. The pass was behind the WR, which allowed Gunter to make the play. A better pass and he's toasted for a big play.

This game was a good matchup for the Packers. Wash prefers to play zone and off coverage, which allowed the Packers WR to get a mostly clean release, which made Rodgers job much easier. They also have a pretty bad run D.

Irvin is probably right, since the Cards can and will play press man all game, which has caused most of the Packers problems passing all year.

I don't expect them to get smoked like the last game and hope the Packers can keep it close and have a chance in the 4th qtr. But AZ is definitely NOT a good matchup for the Packers.

I think most knowledgeable fans understand that it will be a HUGE upset if the Packers win on Saturday, no 'ifs', 'ands' or 'buts'. Enjoy this last game but be prepared to get schooled

Something to remember is the last game they were down 10-0 just before half. Rodgers threw an ill advised INT in the redzone which completely blew all their momentum. It should have at least been 10-3 going into half. Instead Arizona then went down and scored a TD right before half to go up 17-0. Then to make it worst on the opening drive of the 2nd half Starks fumbled and Arizona scored again to make it 24-0. Game was over at that point.

But the biggest thing to remember is that Don Barclay started at LT. Also they lost Bulaga in the game. If I remember right, they also lost Lang and Linsley in the game. If I remember right during one drive they had 1 true starting OL.

I expect a much better performance this time around.

Thanks for reminding me that it still was a game before and briefly after halftime and how that interception changed everything. I had subconsciously and for good reason buried it. Also great point about Oline, we were down to nothing and this game we will have something. Let's hope Shields, Rollins and yes Adams are back. Did I miss anyone?

Go back and watch the tape.

The wheels came off when we had no more Ts on the roster.

Other than that, they only reason we were behind was Aaron's seemingly purposeful INT and Stark's fumble to start the second half.

If we show up, we CAN beat them.

I believe we are on a run. I posted weeks ago that we would be. We need to get Bak back. Any word on him? I'm not the biggest fan of Sam Shields, but if he is the Best we have, we need him in there next week. Hard to believe he's battling a Concussion. It looked like he might have hurt his shoulder when he went out of bounds. What is the word on Shields, Anything?? DON'T WRITE THIS TEAM OFF. I posted we would play Carolina in the NFCC game weeks ago. I still believe it. It's not that big a stretch that we could host the NFCC game. If, I should say when we Win next week, there are going to be a lot of Surprised people.

Put it this way. If you like Shields or not, he is still a ton better then Gunter and Goodson. (Although I like Gunter).

We really need all hands on deck to win. Getting Bakhtiari and Shields back would be huge for us.

The Defense has been very underrated all season. And now they are playing at a higher level.
Mathews, Peppers, the leaders of our defense have turned on a switch to play at a higher level.

The GB game opened next week at GB +7 1/2. It's moved down to GB +7
that as a rule is a Good Line for GB. Seldom Seen, but moving in the right direction. Anything below +7 would be a positive Betting line for GB. MY money will be where my mouth is, again next week.

I'M going to be really let down, if this team does not make the NFCC Game. I posted it after the Denver game. I believe it will be against Carolina, but a Seattle game at Lambeau wouldn't totally surprise me. I am totally confident at this point that they will be there. Go Pack!!

The game started out 0-11, finished 35-7. Not bad.

Hopefully Shields, Rollins and and Bakh are all back next week, and Adams too. Speaking of Adams...that sideline catch was inspiring. Hopefully his knee is OK. Rodgers needs all the weapons he can get! Nice to see Abbrederis on that 2-pt conversion catch.

Starks and Lacy had some powerful runs. Both had 12 carries, so they should be fresh for Saturday.

D-Fence. Nice performance overall. The soft zone was frustrating. The D did bend but didn't break.

Oh wow... They have already played all 3 remaining teams in the NFC this season, 2 of them away games. That's good experience to have in the playoffs. If they are healthy Saturday, they have a damn good chance. Revenge would be sweet. Not just for earlier this season, but 2009.

P.S. I realized during the game that Kirk Cousins is the fucking fuck from Michigan State who threw the Hail Mary against the Badgers back in 2011. I had never made that connection before. Made me hate him even more. I hope he's injured.

Good solid win. I was confident that if our OL played well and if we held Wash to less than 20 points we could take them and we did. Only one sack allowed and Rodgers looked sharp for the first time in quite a while. Solid running game and another strong defensive effort. Nice job by the whole team. On to AZ. Go Pack Go! You are right. But I have to admit, after that sack I immediately felt as if our OL struggles would continue. but fortunately, Tretter settled down after that, and it was all better. Remember Aikman saying in Q1, after another terrible throw, that the protection was actually good, and it remained that way :) And opening lanes for the running game in half 2 was huge.

At least they salvaged a little pride. I was almost ready to turn it off after the first few possessions.

Sorry, just no comparison between Wash and Ariz.

AR finding Adams in the end zone was his best throw in a LONG while. (Detroit does not count).

Pretty sure Lacey is pretty banged up.

Still saw WR's sitting in coverage dancing nowhere.

I'll be hoping against Arizona. Anything can happen. But I'm not betting anything. Too many injured.

Why no throws to Quarless?

Keep hope alive. 1 week at a time.

I thought the pass to Cobb in the end zone was a greater display of prowess than the Adams toss- Adams was open in the corner, just had to get it over the defender. Cobb's was a toss through somewhat of a window.

I love that Mashed Potato Mikes Applebees menu blew away in that gusty wind and Arodge called everything at the line in the hurry up. They didn't have to wait for the play to come in and waste timeouts. Taters Mike had the personnel flowing in and out and Arodge read the defense and the O- line found some rhythm as well as the WRs. The defense and ST were solid as usual.

Post game locker room speech from HC Arians:

something to the effect of, 'okay guys, be humble and respectful of the Packers when you talk to the media about this win, so they don't have bulletin board material when we see them again in the playoffs, because there butts are still going to be sore from the ass whipping we gave them today"

-it was hard being surrounded by skins fans in the cave. The view from those seats sucks and the fans were obnoxious.
-this fan was obnoxious when the stadium started to empty with 12 minutes remaining.
-those seats we ended up in were great!
-seriously though, AR struggled with those rainbow throws he used to make look easy.
-the oline looked pretty good all things considered.
-pounding that ball took all the energy out of the Redskins players and FedEx field.
-dang that was a lot of fun!
-Arizona is beatable if our line plays that way, our WR catch like that, if AR throws just a smidge better, and the defense keeps up its assault.
-1.5 hour drive home here we go!

He used to have a receiver who could get to the spot...that and those receivers weren't double and triple covered. Glad that he adjusted and played to move the chains a little more this week.

Look, I'm not trying to rain on the happy feelings, but are you seriously attempting to deny that Rodgers was overthrowing WR's deep all day long today?

It's okay to make observations that are critical of AR.. He was missing the deep accuracy today. It's okay. He had an otherwise great outing for the most part.

Oppy,
I've been very defensive of AR since the critics came out enforce. I think his performance was more symptom of many other problems, not a cause of offensive problems.
But either way, whether cause or effect, this game proved me your point about AR accuracy issues remain, b/c in this game MM created lots of variations in play and formations, the Oline provided sufficient protection, the running game was sufficient (barely), and WRs did get separation, and hung on to their catches.

So yes, to your point....AR missed some clear deep targets, but still had good game.
If MM continues with creative game strategy, and Oline is healthy next week and opens up a respectable run game, AR will probably improve his sync with WRs and all stats should improve further.

Rodgers was 1-8 in the 1st qtr, then started 7-8 in the 2nd. The difference was the wind. He had some difficulty w/ throws that were in the air a little longer. The one to Cobb in particular. Its tough to have to adjust for the wind.

Packers racked up 141 on the ground, averaging 4.4 YPC as a team (including Starks, Lacy, Cobb who all averaged close to 5 YPC and Kuhn and Rodgers). They did well enough on the ground.

Rodgers had a very good game. The best he's had since the bye week in terms of throwing the ball. You can eliminate scheme, routes and drops- just watch Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball, not the result of the play. Rodgers has thrown the ball for the last 10 weeks far below his standard. Today, after the first quarter, he was throwing the ball noticeably better than he has in a long, long time. More zip, more accurate (with exception to the deep balls), getting it out of his hands more quickly at the top of his drop, better decisions.

I guess it doesn't matter to me if you choose to believe that Rodgers hasn't been a contributing factor to the offensive woes or not. However, the information suggesting he was is all there on film. He hasn't thrown the ball very well this season. I hope he continues to throw it like he was yesterday.

It was great to see the offense resemble the offense we’ve seen over the last four years.
All Packers fans should enjoy this win. However, I thought we found something after we beat Dallas this year, too.
For me, I’m happy to have another game to look forward to but I’ll start to get excited if we play against Arizona as well as we played against Washington.

What you are saying is more than fair, and I am inclined to agree.

However, the big difference is in the attitude.

We whooped Dallas, and Rodgers reacted like a brooding teenager who just got grounded. You would have thought we lost the NFC Championship game to the Bears after watching his post game presser.

Today, Rodgers just seemed like he had a huge weight lifted off his shoulders. He had fun. He seemed upbeat post game. He was rallying the troops during the game. I've NEVER seen Rodgers so interested in vocal leadership before.

I think there is reason to be optimistic about the offense right now. We may or may not win this saturday, but I actually think there is more reason to believe the offense has turned the corner than there was after the Dallas game.

I hope you're right, but I also remember the Miracle in Motown this year too when Rodgers almost cried tears of joy while being interviewed on the field right after his Hail Mary completion to Richard Rodgers. I thought that game might be a turning point also.

I feel like I've been emotionally burned one too many times this season. However, if we can play against Arizona like we did against Washington and win that game I swear I'll run to my closet and pull out my green and gold pompoms!

DET was completely different- the offense played like garbage all game long, there was no continuity, Rodgers was still barky and not throwing particularly well all game, it was a brief moment of amazing followed by a lot of outpouring emotion. I did also feel like it was momentum that could be a turning point, which clearly didn't pan out.

Today was a near complete game, excluding the first Q. The energy was different, even (especially) on the field. You are correct, we won't know for sure until next week if it bleeds over or not, but I do think there are some solid signs it may.

Gut reactions

I hated that first Q for so many reasons until they held them to FG. Thought for sure being on 1 yard line Skins would score.

D was outstanding.

Rollins and Randall can cover and tackle.
Hayward can't and doesn't want to or know how.

Tretter blocks on Starks run stood out as did he.. Great to have a game where nobody had clean shots on Rodgers from that side.

Great to see them hold Skins to only 18 at the end.

Great to see Raji make a play and showing emotion

Perry played a great game especially when it mattered.

No blatant ugly performances.

And there were more positives as well, more than there is room to list. Just saying that is a pleasant change.

Enjoy it all.

Arz a completely different bird than DC. But They are not unbeatable. They could either be extremely peeved after the Seattle game, or be over confident after beating us.

A-Rod was much more accurate today but still not in the zone. Still, if we get that attitude and confidence that goes with a laser focus, we have more than just a shot.

Hope D-Adams is OK. Good to see him getting over the mental hurdle last two games. Good to see Abby in there making plays too. Don't know Rollin's status, he and Randall are both money draft picks showing it these past few games with Shields on the sideline. Great play Gunter! Will be great to see how these guys progress in the off season.

D-Line making some push there today. O-Line, great game.

Hey, just plain fun to watch again. No matter what happens next week, this week they came to play and live to fight again. Golf will have to wait at least one more week...

The biggest thing to remember in our first match up against Arizona was we started Barclay at LT, and lost Bulaga in the game. Also our other OL got hurt in the game as well...

Arizona is beatable, as Seattle proved. Also Green Bay was in the game until Rodgers threw that horrible INT in the endzone. What would have been 10-3 at half ended up into 17-0 at half. And then a fumble on the next drive turned it into a 24-0 within a minute of the start of the 3rd quarter. Add in 2 fumbles returned for TD's by the Packers offense, created a blow out.

I expect a much better showing this week.

Rodgers finally found some Rhythm. He cut it loose and trusted his WR's to make plays. Something he really hasn't done lately.
And look at the fun he had yesterday. A fun Rodgers is an exciting Rodgers, and dangerous Rodgers.

I could be wrong, but I think Gunter went undrafted, largely due to his world-record worst combine showing ever. When he ran the 40, they didn't use a stop watch, they ran to a diner and grabbed a bottle of heinz ketchup, turned it upside down, and counted how many plops hit the ground.

At any rate, yeah, they scored big time on CB's this season, Gunter included.

He's a playmaker, I don't think he'll be let go. If anything - he might price himself too high and force the Pack to end pursuit .

One thing is for sure, the depth is great for the long run. Casey won't be a for sure starter next season.

I like Gunter and think he has a future, but he was beat clean on that play and was saved by a bad pass that was about a full step late. A good throw there and the WR has a BIG gain. Gunter made a nice diving play to break up the pass, but he was beat in a bad way. Poor throw and decent recovery play by Gunter. Overall not a great play by any means.

Thompson hit it big time at CB in the draft tho, no doubt about it.

What I loved about this game was that it was a solid team win with lots of guys making little (and big) plays.

I do wonder though why it took them so long to remember that they were playing the 31st-ranked run defense.

The pass opened up the run in the second half today. Washington's pass defense is poor, although they played pretty well today.

After weeks of watching the Pack try to run the ball early, I think the best chance is to start with the pass. If Adams can't go, that's going to hurt, though.

Well I have to admit that after the Vikings game
I had no confidense in this offense. Zero. I thought the defense was playing well enough but without the offense working we would be one and done. And after watching the first quarter it felt like it. But I thought the line started really protecting well and took over in the running game in the second half. Rogers looked more comfortable and viola. Now back to the desert where I feel we will play much better. Just figure that we couldnt play much worse.

Well into the second quarter it didn't look good. The indigenous Peoples had 11 points and the Packers had 10 YARDS! The Packers would literally been better off punting on 1st down then doing what they did with their first 4 drives. Then something happened. It started slow a few dinks and dunks and Rodgers still missing players open. He missed the read on Cobb breaking wide open on a 3rd down play and had to kick a field goal to make it 11 - 10. But the team seemed to wake up. To get confident. They scored on 5 drive in a row. They only threw for 210 yards but Rodgers seemed to start to look like Rodgers. The running backs and Cobb gained 140 yards running without needing Rodgers to be the scrambling runner. Early on the team was chippy - playing mad and disgruntled. But as the team got success and confidence they played with energy and enthusiasm. They ended with 35 points and really seemed in control and like they could have scored more if they wanted or needed to.

Now I had been drinking since the Vikings game kicked off but to my eyes it looked like the difference was the line play. Rodgers had time and was settled in the pocket. The backs had holes and blocks downfield.

On defense they had some long plays as has been the problem this season but overall they played tough and covered and harassed the Quarterback (it is safe to say he probably did not like that). The defensive backfield took hit after hit and it seemed like they were about to need to put Janis or someone out there to play d back. But they held on and made plays in the right moments to hold the opponent to under 20 points.

Will this carry over next week against a Cardinal team that totally destroyed this line just a couple weeks ago? Who cares. Lets enjoy this one a while first.

Arizona favored by 7 to 7 1/2. Considering how they destroyed the Packers a few weeks ago, I thought the line would be double digits. Perhaps the Packers can put on a strong show and maybe pull it out.

- I feel like Tretter has earned more snaps this season. Every time he plays, the run game and protections seem more effective.
- This team had leaders today. I kind of felt that Rodgers would be this way leadership wise after his last presser before this game.
- Dline is outstanding. I really hope they keep this pressure up.
- Our dbacks are so thinned out right now. They did an outstanding job of next man up. That receiving crew is pretty great. Good game plan for Capers too.
- Keep the faith Pack nation. The NFL is fickle. Teams can get hot all of a sudden. Happens every year.
- One game at a time.

Great win!

The good:
- offensive awakening
- ball hawking secondary did well
- Rodgers and his WRs looked in sync
- Lacy and Starks were a 1-2 punch
- well designed plays to get the ball out of Rodgers hand quickly
- better offensive line play
- Davante Adams, Casey Heyward and Nick Perry showed up to play
- Matthews, Peppers and Daniels were disruptive
- no turnovers
- created two fumbles and nearly two INTs

The bad:
- Rodgers still overshot some deep balls
- Injuries to Randall, Rollins and Adams
- Lacy's rib seems to really be bothering him
- team started celebrating with 5 minutes left. Did they learn anything from Seattle last year?

Overall, very impressive win. The Packers will need Sam Shields and David Bakhtiari more than ever next week, and better hope that Adams, Rollins and Randall are ok too. Go Pack!

Cobb gave a great interview on NFL network after the game. Said AR was real emotional before the game. A side that was rarely seen before a game. He said we knew how bad he wanted this. Also said he himself had to make the plays they needed to, they knew as a group how bad they were playing. Adams wide open in the endzone, and the side line catch? Rodgers called him Mr. January.

- Best this team has played since the 6-0 start hands down and no question.
- I've been down on him, but McCarthy got these guys ready for this one.
- New found confidence was best witnessed in Aaron Rodgers rare smile, something we haven't seen in a couple months. A welcome site for sure.
- Why didn't JC Tretter start at left tackle last week? He wasn't perfect, but he was more than serviceable tonight. Hell of an effort from GB's favorite Ivy League line-man.
- Quentin Rollins, Demarius Randell and Ladarius Gunter make for a very bright future for the GB secondary. Very solid outing from our rookies at the CB position today.
- James Starks to the rescue.
- Very nice game from Nick Perry, had forgotten he even played for GB till this afternoon.
- Clay Mathews was all over the place today, huge game from #52. Man beast.
- His partner in crime, Jake Ryan, quietly had a very nice game. The future is bright for that kid.
- Speaking of huge games, how about old balls Julius Peppers - guy was monster when it mattered most.
- Hyde got beat a bunch, but he battled Jordan Reed all afternoon.
- Hope to never see another WR bubble screen again.
- Abby's move against who the hell knows on that 2 point conversion was the best route I've seen a GB receiver runs in months.
- Why can't Tim Masthay punt?
- Aaron Rodgers trusts James Jones and James Jones delivered, once again, today. Sign the man for another year.
- Bring on the Cardinals.

Weird note about Tim Masthay not being able to punt:

He set the Packers record for average net punting yards on a season, a record that apparently has stood for over 50 years.

No, I'm not joking. I know, it's shocking.

Doesn't feel like it Oppy, but at the same time, I remember we've always had punters who shanked one once in some time. What is shocking is that he did achieve that this season. I thought he played better in years before.

Masthay had an awesome punt yesterday, Washington downed it at their own 9. He also had a shank again in Q1. But well, all is good...

Some things I noticed....kuddos to the coaching staff for leaving Kuhn IN at crucial times. Leaving him in not only as a lead blocker, but also helping out Tretter with chips. I've been begging that they do this and it finally happened. Sitton had a nice game, one play not only did he block his guy, but he moved over and helped Tretter with his guy.

Bottom line, if you have an LT or a RT struggling...you don't leave them on an island and let your QB get blasted. That's what happened in AZ.
This game they utilized the FB and it helped out tremendously . WR's made contested catches, and it was not raining :-). Starks ran like his hair was on fire, made some nice catches. The Ginger wolverine had a nice punt when the wind was at his back.
This was a nice total team effort. I don't know what will happen in AZ, but a game like this can really boost confidence which I think was desperately needed. Any given Sunday, anything can happen.

- It was fun watching the Packers put up 35 again
- Will enjoy the victory, but clearly Washington's D was probably the worst defense we played against all year - zero pass rush from them
- Great to see Rodgers get to challenge a play - turns out he is just as good as McCarthey
- Adams made a few plays for once. WOW!! hopefully he can get healthy and help out next week
- How great is our cornerback depth - Gunter with the big play
- CM came to play - can I hear a halleluah for Nick Perry!!
Still counted 5 bad passes from Rodgers - he used to throw 5 passes like that every ten games - it was great to see a smile again though
- I was upset at first when we elected to receive - as the game wore on I realized McCarthey took the wind in the 4th quarter - great call
- Time Outs in the second half - I say take the penalty, punt the ball and save the timeouts - they are too important in the second half - Pitt had three in the second half of thier game and it was a big reason they won/ Save all three until you know you won't need them.
- How great would it be to beat Seattle in Green Bay in two weeks. All we have to do is win and wait for a Seattle win. I'll make sure to play powerball too.

Like to know if Rodgers audibled into many of the better plays, or were those McCarthy.

Noticed Rodgers not running as much lately. Is he a bit banged up, perhaps, or just getting older.

Could we possibly be seeing the emergence of the old, unbeatable Aaron Rodgers. If he starts to really sling it, and the receivers hold on, he can singled-handedly defeat the Cardinals. Of course, going to need a little bit of protection.

So......home field advantage. Yeah...that didn't work out so well for four games out of four games this year. Maybe it's too much pressure to have to win in front of your own fans. Maybe that underdog chip makes you have to prove something. To try and shut that crowd down. Home games are great for fans and the economic impact of their city, but........I don't know....I kind of like this us against them mentality that the team has taken on.

Remember when we crushed AZ in 2009? And then they beat us in the playoffs? Remember when Seattle crushed the Vikings in the regular season and then the Vikings bea.....well.....no....but they could have.

My point is. We have a decent shot at redemption. Very rarely will you see a team get whooped twice in a year by the same team. There's a Chip. ..........And it's growing.

I can't remember 4 wild card teams all winning the first round. This is some weird $917 this year.

Tretter needs to be in the Good, despite the safety.

250 yards is still a pretty sub-par game. #12 left a lot of yards and some points on the field. The offense is not humming yet, but the engine is finally running. Either we walk away going "figures" or we all walk away amazed at how much the offense improved from week 16 to the Super Bowl. Signs of life. Keep your fingers crossed and see how it goes.

2 QB hits. 2 QB hits (because it bears repeating). AR was only hit twice. Washington's Kerrigan is pretty good, but Bulaga was very solid and essentially shut him down. Tretter - see above comments. Interior guys for the most part did not allow too much push.

We could not run well enough to get 1st downs. Starks and Lacy have good averages solely on each having one pretty long gain (the cut that Starks made on his run was a thing of beauty, btw, and Cobb made some real nice spin moves in traffic). MM was right to switch to pass first with enough runs mixed in to keep Wash. honest.

I thought all of the LBs came to play. Jake Ryan has enough speed to play in the NFL at a good level. Loved watching him snake underneath for the tackle. He is a guy from whom I expect to see a 2nd year jump (from being a liability to solid NFL average starter, albeit). Daniels and Raji did their jobs. Guion made a play or two, and got some push (IIRC - never got a good look at the number), but Wash. seemed to have more success running to their right today.

Secondary was outstanding - Hyde battled against a near elite TE and made Wash throw it 17 times to Reed to get 9 receptions (52.9%). During the regular season, Reed caught 87 of 114 targets, a healthy 76.3%. Overall, Hyde limited Reed reasonably well.
