Drew Brees Thinks Packers Can Win Super Bowl

New Orleans Saints quarterback, the MVP of Super Bowl XLIV last year, said he thinks the Green Bay Packers can win the Super Bowl.

GRAPEVINE,Tex. – After receiving the Bart Starr Award this morning at the annual Super Bowl Breakfast, New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees said he thinks the Green Bay Packers can win the Super Bowl.

"If the Packers play their best game, if this is a clean game – in other words not a lot of turnovers, if it's a clean game and both teams play their best – I feel like the Packers win," said Brees. "I just think the Steelers have been here twice before, so they know what it's like. They've experienced it before, they have a lot of same players that were on those championship teams.

"But the Packers haven't experience this before, and I think part of that is the reason why I think they win, just because I know they're locked in, I know they're ready, I know they see this as an opportunity of a lifetime."

Brees was the Super Bowl MVP of last year's edition of the game when the Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts.

Starr was on hand to give his namesake award to Brees, given to the NFL player, voted on by his peers, who best exemplifies outstanding character and leadership in the home, on the field and in the community.

Brees, who's worked out in the offseason with Aaron Rodgers, has a lot of respect for the current Packers quarterback.

"I think a lot of him," said Brees. "I think he's a great player. Not only that, I love his attitude, and I love the way he plays the game. I love the face that he came into this league, obviously backing up Brett Favre for three or four years and stepping into some pretty big shoes. And I think he's done that with a lot of class."

Starr, the MVP of Super Bowls I and II, is similarly impressed with Rodgers.

"I'm extremely pleased for him, having met him, seen him, been in his surroundings some," said Starr. "[My wife] Cherry and I have been extremely impressed how he handles himself, what's he's done during this growth. A guy I think is just superb, how he handles the game out on the field. YOu can just see he's in control, very confident, and it shows."
