I wonder why MLF couldn't see what everyone, even private meetings from his players couldn't see? Well, he's gone now so can't cry about spilled milk so to speak. What gets me is the front office is still treating players like crap! Why not come to Campbell and ask for a pay cut instead of releasing him? Maybe things will get better when they get a new President, instead of worrying about building a community try focusing on his employees a little more!

Looks to me like DC is all class, not a bad word to say about the Packers organization or their fans. He's simply pointing out what we all know, Joe Barry wasn't putting players in the best position to make plays. Feel sorry for position coaches under JB who had to do what he wanted at the expense of their careers. Shame that DC didn't have a chance to play under Hafley, may well have returned to 2021 form, or better. Hoping his career is long and successful (except when playing against the Packers). Go Pack go! :)

Well, DeVondre, I liked when Packers signed you, I also liked your first season with Packers. And, do not worry, we knew and knows that main culprit was Joe Barry.

Here, on this site, or call it how you want to call, many, much more football educated fans were bitching about Joe Barry (me too, of course). So we knew already that it was not on the players, but on the DC. I understand your attitude and your conflict - what to play - the play which was called, or the right play. But we also understand that whatever you chosed it happen to be wrong, because you were not the one who was directing and ordering others on the D what to play. Not your mistake, but ineptitude of DC.

He may have some valid points, but talent can overcome coaching. His performance was suffering and I found myself (like many other Packer fans) criticizing his play. Let’s see how he performs in San Fran—I think/hope 9’r fans will be disappointed.

Did I miss something or did the Packers make it to the second round of the playoffs?

Campbell was hurt a good portion of last year.

MLF took the correct action and unloaded Barry and appears to have hired a coordinator more in tune with defensing the RPO so popular in the NFL. MLF made a deep error by keeping Barry one more year. It was clear the defense was under-performing yet more of the same came in 2023. I'm not certain it would have made a difference in the Packers overall outcome, as the chief reason the team went to the playoffs was the play of Jordan Love and the offense.

The theme you have to see, maybe Campbell isn't seeing it, beginning with Aaron Rodgers and moving to Aaron Jones and Campbell is older, and/or injured, more costly players are being replaced by younger players. You can agree or disagree with the trend but that is the reality. The Packers will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat the rest of the off season to land one or two potential starters at linebacker.

I wish Campbell the best. When he was on the field he was a tough competitor.

I like Campbell - many of us do.
I know there was a problem with Barry - we've all known.
But to escalate the talk like this in public is questionable. He is an active player, a part of very good team, with no Barry there. First thing - take care of your performance because if it doesn't match your declarations you will look like a fool. Let your game speak for itself. People are not dumb, we have our suspicions and you can prove us right only on the field.

Campbell's comments are just further conformation of what Packer fans have known for a couple of years - Joe Barry was in over his head as a defensive coordinator. The only unanswered question at this stage is why Lafleur kept him for a third year.

I hope Campbell's frankness doesn't hurt his career. He would probably have been better served by keeping much of this to himself for as long as he remains in the league, but he chose to share. I wish him well.

All of this does provide hope that Hafley can provide a disproportionate boost to the defense just by running better schemes and putting players in position to succeed - something Joe Barry failed at.

Pretty sure he said the exact opposite in 2021 and got paid. Campbell you didn’t rise to the occasion own up to it and move on.

If MLF was made aware that Barry was the issue then why didn’t the Packers hold on to Campbell maybe rework his deal , now are they expecting a rookie LB to come in and master the defense, there is maybe 3 inside guys in the draft that could start right away that means the Packers would have to use pick 1 for a LB.

Will anyone be shocked if DC plays well in San Fran?

In all fairness to this clown, its not like he could come out and say what we all knew, Joe Barry was a mindless moron who didnt understand a dam thing about defense. He's play a prevent if the other team was backed up on their two yard line.
I'm sure Campbell is happy as hell to be out of dodge and on a contender. I hope Frisco hires JB as their new defensive coach, now that there would be puny as hell.
