Cory's Corner: Ten Wins Is A Reality

This team has found its groove and is now a scary team to face.

Things just got serious.

Remember when I said that 1o wins could be a reality this season?

I know that many scoffed when I originally wrote this. And I have to admit that when I first typed it, I wasn’t 100 percent sure either. But the more I thought about it, the more I honestly thought it could be a reality.

The Packers upset the Chiefs 27-19 on Sunday night as Jordan Love outplayed the two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes. In the last three games, Love has completed 69 percent of his passes, averaged 285 yards a game and thrown for eight touchdowns and no picks.

But it’s not just Love. It’s also Packers coach Matt LaFleur. He’s calling more misdirection and play-action bootlegs. And when I see Love operate a flawless play-action boot on the goal line, you know what I think of? Keith Jackson catching an easy toss  from Brett Favre as he strolls into the end zone.

The Packers are now 6-6 as they approach the soft underbelly of their schedule. They’ve got the Giants, who are starting Tommy DeVito at quarterback and has been sacked a whopping 20 times in three starts. Then there are the Bucs, who have Baker Mayfield. Even though Tampa Bay looks somewhat formidable at 5-7, Mayfield has four picks in the last four games. Carolina is next and at 1-11, is the worst team in the league. The final two games will be the toughest. A road Sunday night game at Minnesota could have playoff implications, but the Josh Dobbs experiment is trending down after throwing five picks in the last two games. The season finale is a home date with the Bears. How much juice will Chicago have left after a season of sighs over former first rounder Justin Fields?

Looking at that slate, going 4-1 is completely attainable. And if I have to take it a step further, going 5-0 down the stretch isn’t out of the question either. I mean, Love looks completely different from the beginning of the season and it’s because he’s taking chances and throwing the ball down the field. The receivers have coalesced and might be one of the best units in football. There is no fear from Love or from the receivers anymore. Even on that fourth-and-one where Love threw it 50-feet in the air for a 33-yard gain to Romeo Doubs, he just knew that it was going to find his receiver.

Confidence is sky high from this group right now. Ten wins may have seemed like a pipe dream a few months ago, but now it is very real.

“Love looks completely different from the beginning of the season and it’s because he’s taking chances and throwing the ball down the field.”

I respectfully disagree. After two weeks most in football was praising Love starting out with over 100 passing rating while throwing 6 TD’s with O INT’s. He did this while His receivers were running wrong routes and missing catches. In addition, the OL were false starting and holding constantly. Then during the losing streak more of the same was going on with WR’s and OL. Love wasn’t perfect and struggled to perform to the same level while having to constantly deal with 2nd or 3rd and long. In addition, he was playing from behind vs leading like the last couple of games.

Now, during this winning streak the biggest difference I noticed is the OL and WR’s playing much better, limiting many of the down and distance issues they had during the losing streak. To me, Love has seemed the same calm, collective and poised QB throughout the year.

100% agree, you could see Love's poise even during the losses. They weren't losing because he was playing bad (not that he's been perfect).

The o-line has been a huge factor. Getting the run game going while also keeping love in clean passing pockets has been the key to allowing Love to thrive.

Love’s temperament has been perhaps the most impressive thing to emerge this year. He processes, he rarely seems flustered in reads or under pressure. That’s pretty rare and essential for greatness. Of course there still has to be talent, but now that is beginning to show, that temperament becomes a big plus.

on top of what Cubby stated, avoiding the dreaded pre-snap penalties has been a huge part of the offensive improvement.
We no longer see (seldom anyway) defensive linemen running untouched straight to our QB.
The offense has had a chance to develop and stay in rhythm.
I have to believe their performance has spilled over to the defensive side of the ball as well.
D can play without the pressure of falling behind in fear that the O won't be able to come back.
Complimentary Football is a thing of beauty when it's your team exhibiting it.
On to the battle vs the "small people"

Totally agree. During this losing streak and when criticizing Love was starting I was trying to persuade that we can't judge QB who is running for his life and that we will be able to judge him when our O-line will be at least avg.

34, 17, 19, 24, 23. Those are the points allowed by the defense in their five losses during the six week stretch from week 4 through week 9, starting with the Lions game and ending with the Steelers.

That is, in my opinion, 1 very poor outcome, 2 good outcomes, and 2 average/boderline outcomes for the defense.

20, 13, 17, 10, 20. Those are the points scored by the offense in those 5 losses during that 6 week stretch.

That is, in my opinion, 3 poor outcomes bookended by two low-average outcomes.

To put it another way, 22 of 32 teams average over 20 points per game on offense so far in 2023. Only 6 defenses in the league allow an average of less than 20 points per game. (Green Bay's defense currently ranks 9th in the league in points allowed per game at 20.2.)

It is very hard for me to say the Defense had a "large role" in the losing streak. They played a part, but only the Lions game was what I would call a defensive failure. Scoring 20 or less isn't going to net a team many wins in the NFL in 2023.

It's been impressive over the last couple of games how well the offensive line has protected Love with a clean pocket. More please.
At the same time, it's been impressive how well Love has been decisive in getting the ball out of his hands quickly and effectively, and how well he has improvised when he has been under pressure to make plays or limit the damage.
***
It's a good point that Love has been admirably composed and competent throughout this season in all of its ups and downs; while it also seems true, that with a little help from his friends, he has taken his play up a couple of notches or more.
What we have ahead of us is five games of exciting anticipation but also some real apprehension -- which makes for great drama.
Let's hope and pray our players and coaches rise to the occasion -- perhaps motivated by the perspective that such evident opportunities for individual accomplishment and group achievement don't come around all that often in a football career, even during the course of one's life.
To avoid regret in the future, it's an especially apt time to seize the moment with a dedication to excellence each day.

Swisch, these two points are contradictory:

"It's been impressive over the last couple of games how well the offensive line has protected Love with a clean pocket. More please.
At the same time, it's been impressive how well Love has been decisive in getting the ball out of his hands quickly and effectively, and how well he has improvised when he has been under pressure to make plays or limit the damage."

Yet both have happened. By my recollection it's been rare that JL10 has had time for a coke and a smoke, and frequent that he performed well under pressure. I think his release has gotten quicker?!? Just my eye test says he's getting the ball out FAST, I'd love to see some film analysis of his fastest now vs early season. That would mean that frequently pass pro has NOT held up, yet JL10 has kept the chains moving anyway.

That works! Some great wins, and some areas where room for improvement is still easy to see. What's this team's ceiling?!? Nowhere in sight right now ...

Murf, I agree with your disagreement to this:

"Love looks completely different from the beginning of the season and it’s because he’s taking chances and throwing the ball down the field.”

There's MUCH more going on than that! And especially against KC, that was a complete team win. I think that counts as 60 minutes of effort, from EVERYBODY. MLF schemed it up well, and called some PLAYS. I've never doubted his ability in that regard.

Hopefully he puts in just as much effort this week, preparing for the Giants. If everything goes well including getting #33 back 100% this team should be able to hang 70 points on somebody this season :)

I have to agree with your take of Love’s season. There was far too many mental mistakes and missed assignments and poor route running and when the receiver was in the right spot he was dropping the pass. I will also add that I think the coaching staff was not doing a good job with these players. I think they have taken a huge leap forward and Matt LF is now running the offense and team the way he has wanted to from day one but he was handcuffed by Aaron Rodgers.

I still think Joe Barry needs to be replaced though. With the players he has to put on the field this defense should be a top 5 defense. For some reason he doesn’t play a very aggressive style of defense and I think that he is giving up too much real estate to the other team and making our defense have to stay on the field way too long. Get some more bodies up on the line and take a few chances. Get aggressive and attack.

Sorry, I could go on for a while but I will leave it at that.
Thanks for listening.

Cory; "The receivers have coalesced and might be one of the best units in football."

I love the Packers (of course) but that's kind of stretching it even for us die-hards, isn't it?

Wouldn't have raised my brows if you'd have said "most improved unit".

I never try to predict Packers wins and losses or bet on them, because it would cause everything to go wrong and be my fault. I'll leave that to you match up guys.

Let's just beat the teams we're supposed to. We beat the teams we weren't supposed to, but I'm worried about these underdogs in prime-time games, and Wink dialed them up to start a downward spiral last season.

11-6 baby 😎

Everybody expects this young team to be inconsistent, but we haven't seen that. We've seen them be a downright bad team yet with some great individual efforts, and I think the drastic turnaround is (at least largely) attributable to the whole team finally playing together rather than shooting themselves in the foot.

Lots of improvement still possible. What's their ceiling?!?

It would be an interesting deep dive to compare the best WR rooms from this season. In the off-season!

I'm a big fan of all 8 WRs in GB, including on the PS. I'm thinking playing the hot hand might be a good idea and let JL10 improve his connection with individual WRS, but he made completions to what, 5 against KC?

Ten wins should be their target. The offense is doing well. Love is more comfortable, hitting his checkdowns and getting rattled a lot. The check down to Dillon got 15 yards and a first down. How much better that is.

What I am most interested in is the defense. Barry has to be much more aggressive these last five games. That third and 18 that only rushed three, what a disaster. You play timid and you lose. There won't be any good quarterbacks in these last games. So dump the bend but don't break tendency and get aggressive. Just like the Rams game.

After nearly 7 seasons of Barry coaching unsuccessful defenses, he is not going to change. MLF will not require him to change. MLF does not get involved much in D or STs.

After the D collapse vs the Falcons when MLF complained "You guys (reporters) saw it! We got gashed (on the ground)! It has to change!"

It hasn't. Over 6 yards per run again on Sunday evening...

I agree Packer_fan. We should play to win and not play not to lose. This is a big difference. If we play more aggressive and then lose, I can accept that but to rush three and their TE is that open. Not acceptable.

Packer Fan,

some people are saying JB deserves flowers. I don't think so. He's a one trick pony. This defense works when you have a lead. It's designed to play with a lead.

That's ONE tool, not even close to what a complete team needs.

Correction: It's not the final two games that will be the toughest, it is just the game at Minnesota. The Packers have beaten the Bears like dogs in recent years. That doesn't mean the final game is a gimme, of course, but they could hardly ask for a better way to end their season than a home game against a Bears team that is floundering as usual. Tampa Bay looks like the biggest challenge after Minnesota.

I just looked up some stats, and I see that the Packers are 9th in defense, as measured by points allowed per game. That's pretty good! They are 18th in offense, but the offense is improving, and there is still hope that they can get something out of Aaron Jones this season.

This is 100% true. In fact in the last 3 games they are 9th in scoring.
And the Packers just put more points on the Chiefs then anyone else this season (see my post for more stats and rankings). The Chiefs defense ranks 3rd in points per game.

It's one thing to bring your A-game against the Lions or Kansas City. Can these guys bring their A-game against a really bad Giants team? ...you know, the one that pushed them around and stole a win last year from the Packers?

The Pack played the entire NFC East last season, and they play all of the 2022 third place teams in the NFC this year (and the entire NFC South). The Giants finished third the NFC last year, so they ended up playing them two years in a row.

If his #one picks, Jaire and Stokes, currently working the sick bay, show up for the last five games they may be able to slow down a passing team, but any hard core running offense will push Barry all over the field and score points. I'm not worried about Love, but the empty stable of RBs and no ILBs with brass to plug the gaps.

Barry had done OK against most teams that can’t pass as well as run, though some QBs have found that they can do things against him they haven’t been able to do against others, as we saw earlier this season.

We will face a run heavy team on Monday in the Giants, but one with a bad OL in the run or pass. However, the quirk of this scheduling is that we don’t play a team with an above average pass and run offense. The nearest would be Minnesota if anyone still believes the Dobbs hype of two weeks ago and Jefferson is back.

The last two weeks the leads have been our best run defenders. It’s conceivable that that remains true till season end. That won’t change the reality that this D remains flawed until it addresses that structural defect as nothing changed from this year to last or the year before that.

If the Packers manage to get into the playoffs, it's essentially a new season. A lot of their injured dudes may be healed up. Who knows? These youngsters may not know that they are "not" supposed to win a SB and go ahead and do it (unlikely, but as a Packers fan I'll take that optimistic outlook over whatever the hell "Or will it lead to exhaustion and detriment of the team?" means.

Team has definitely shown great improvement in all phases of the game. What scares me is what does the future hold in injuries, we can't afford to keep losing people, what if the back ups go down while some of more important starters stay out or get hurt for further depletion. Know you can't control this at all, but it is a concern. The guys so far have covered well in that department. GPG.

Injuries are what decides more at the end of seasons than coaches or play (at least they limit your play). Teams that luck out or get healthy towards the end of seasons, can outplay those that are hurting.

I hope we can get healthy and what seems to be not getting talked about lately, is more of these starters wanting to and playing on special teams again to help complete this team.

They just beat the Lions and the Chiefs. According to teamrankings.com The Chiefs are the 4th ranked team and the Lions are the 10th. That was without Jones, Alexander, and Musgrave. That is what has been very impressive about these last couple of games. They have been able to win without some of their star players. And not just win. Win big!

I'd like to see Kraft targeted at least as much as Musgrave ever was. They're different players, Kraft the more physical and therefore more of what you expect at the position. Musgrave is more of a big bodied WR.

Plenty of room for both! Hopefully we get Musgrave back at 100%

This game is about confidence and momentum. That is what typically wins the Super Bowl. The best team in September - November aren't always the team winning the Super Bowl. Its the team that when November, December and gets hot. The team playing with the most confidence and momentum usually leads to deep playoff runs.

For the Packers they are playing with more confidence then I have seen in the last few years. They are starting to really believe, and it is showing on the field. LaFleur has opened up the playbook as they players are now ready for it. The offense just scored their 3rd highest score offensively of the season. 2 of which are within the last 2 games. The most impressive being that they just put up 27 points against the Chiefs. A defense that has only given up 20 or more points 3 times this season. The Lions game had a pick 6. The Jets scored on a safety. And the Packers scored more then all of them.
Chiefs have faced some good offenses too. This is what they gave up and where the team ranks in points per game.
Miami - 14 points, ranked 2nd in points per game.
Eagles - 21 points, ranked 4th.
Lions - 14 points, ranked 6th.
Jaguars - 9 points, ranked 9th.
Chargers - 17 points, ranked 11th.
Broncos - 8 and 24 points, ranked 15th (tied)
Vikings - 20 points, ranked 15th (tied)

All of these teams are ranked ahead of GB in points per game. The Chiefs have a very good defense.

Packers are definitely playing with momentum and confidence. Love is playing with confidence and some swagger. The WR's are playing with confidence. I believe they very well could end up at 10 wins. They have 5 games left. They could very easily make it to 10 or 11 wins. The remaining schedule isn't daunting. They play at the Giants (4-8), Home against Bucs (5-7), At Carolina (1-11), At Vikings (6-6), Home against Bears (4-8). 3 road games and 2 home games left. If they play like they did against the Chiefs and Lions, they will go 5-0 in that stretch.

We were sitting at 2-5 at one point this year. We have went 4-1 since then and are on a 3 game streak. Things are looking really good right now!

Biggest question for the Giants is our run D vs their run O. We know the Giants are going to want to run the ball and stopping the run isn't in Barry's playbook. Hopefully he learned from the last time he played a team that was run heavy and lost. This time it is easier as the Giants QB sucks. Load the box and run blitz every play. Force the bad QB to beat you.

I am hoping we can get an early lead again. If we get the lead like the last few games, it will make it harder for them to stick with the run.

And the best way to start fast is to take the ball to open the game.

Defense has perennially been the weak sister of the Packers. Start the game on O, set the tone, maybe score but at least flip the field to help the D when they take the field. Momentum!

Other than Banks at CB, they’re nobody on that D I fear and they haven’t been able to really get Barkley going behind that OL and with the most anemic passing game in the league. Their rushing is essentially only negligibly more effective in terms of yards per game than ours has been. If that offense keeps them in the game then ours has vanished or Barry should.

This is a really poor team in terms of talent and performance in all phases and one fighting itself too. Taylor has already been ruled out. They have less points per game than the Jets, beating only New England and have given up more than all but 6 teams as well.

I'm still not sold on Love. He's better, yes. But I'm still not sold on the entire team. No running game worth a shit. And the defense still has lots of holes in it. Still too many passes completed by opponents. Defense got lucky in last two games with opponents dropping two many passes and/or Packers not getting pass-interference calls against them. And the run defense is still not good.

Joe Barry still has to go. If Matt LaFleur is unwilling to fire Barry, then someone higher up has to do it.

I'm still not sold on Matt LaFleur, for that matter.

So, yeah, the Packers are still trying to become a team. They're better, but still a long long long way from Lombardi days of glory.

But don't get me wrong. I enjoy watching the Packers. I just don't have great expectations for them. So I'm surprised and take real pleasure when they defeat teams like Detroit and Kansas City.

I am sold on Love and have been for quite some time, now. I feel he will be the third Packer QB, in a row, that goes into the NFL HOF, at the end of his career. We are sitting at 6-6, right now. Many here, and elsewhere, said we would be lucky to win 2 games, this season. I want us to get 9 wins, this year, if not more. 9 wins would be 1 more win than Rodgers had, in his last year with this team. Looking at our remaining schedule, we could win out! Love is our QB and I am glad that he is!

I originally stated I'd be happy matching the 6 wins of AR12 his first season as a starter as long as there's developmen. We have that already!

I am happy :)

I don't realistically expect to see this team win out all 5 remaining games of the regular season, simply because of the idea that "we have to expect rookies to play inconsistently."

Yeah well, maybe; but that's not what we've seen over the last 5 games in which they're 4-1.

11-6 😎

Our best strategy for the playoffs is, again, to avoid SF.

Well, the "no running game" stuff might be connected to one of the best backs in the game being injured.

"The defense still has lots of holes". Well, we're 9th in scoring defense. 9th. In the NFC, only SF and Dallas have been better at keeping points off the board.

"And the run defense is still not good".

Best defense against the run is NE. Somebody needs to show me the correlation between run defense and making the playoffs. The Bills and the Chiefs are at the bottom of the league in yards/attempt, and they're both playoff teams. The 49ers are the 8th best. Philadelphia is average at 14th, Dallas at 12th.

I don't think there's a real strong correlation, frankly. Points correlate. The teams that make the playoffs don't give up as many points as the ones that don't.

Selective presentation, LH. Yes, NE's opponents face the strongest part of their team...their run D. Now for the "rest of the story". They are 22nd vs the pass. And they don't score points on offense. That will keep you OUT of the playoffs.

The Packers again are at the bottom of the NFL (29th) defending the run. It has been, and will forever be an unimportant priority for Barry. Teams know this so they get many 2nd, 3rd and shorts...first downs, and into scoring position calling more safe running plays. (minimizing INTs which the Packers need on D!)

Barry Ball has to rely on outstanding Redzone D and turnovers to play complimentary football. Doing both can work in a given game...but rarely for a majority of a season. Truly stresses your Offense.

I don't think Barry will be receiving any votes for best DC of the year.

I don't care how many yards per rush, I don't care how many yards per pass, I care about points, because points are how the games are decided. Rush defense isn't a priority for me, for Barry, or the Green Bay Packers. Or Andy Reid and the KC Chiefs, apparently. But it's really important in NE and Chicago. And to you, apparently.

JB's defense works when you're ahead. It's designed to win with a lead.

"I'm still not sold on Love. He's better, yes. But I'm still not sold on the entire team. No running game worth a shit"

Having no running game, and beating 2 playoff teams back to back, should make you feel a little better about Love. Look at what the offense has done the last 3 games. These last 3 games he is one of the highest rated QB's.

"Joe Barry still has to go."
I'm not a Barry fan. I will give him credit for what the defense has done these last few games. But I think its more based on the players then Barry.

"So, yeah, the Packers are still trying to become a team."
This was always supposed to be a growing year. They have the youngest roster in the league. They have a first time starting QB. Not many thought this year was a super bowl year. This was a year to start building the foundation and improve the roster for a run in the future.

Lets be happy with where we currently are. We are a team improving. We are getting better each week. We actually have a shot at the playoffs. After that we have 5 draft picks in the first 3 rounds. Our young roster that is improving, will have a lot of high picks to add more talent to this team.

I am sold on Jordan Love as the QB of the very young Packers. He is going to grow up as an NFL pro with these guys. I believe they are sold on their QB too. I believe the O players are also sold on MLF's O philosophy.

I do not believe the D players are sold on Barry. So much talent, so much under-achieving. Every fan, sports guy and OC in the NFL can see you can run and get first downs on the Packer Defense. They are very soft. The D players know this too and it has to be very frustrating for them.

If Barry Ball does not break during the opponents frequent RZ trips and/or get TO's, they have a good shot at 10 wins. ... maybe 11 as the Bears will be likely playing their last game for the current coaching staff. I am expecting the O to continue to move the ball and score. The D plays dangerously and I have no confidence they will suddenly begin to dominate.

The D can be fine if they can create turnovers. I know that's obvious but they're just a click away from some big plays.

If (a BIG IF) they can get Stokes and Alexander back in there it will almost be an un-scouted D that can put some surprises and more speed on some inexperienced QBs.

Agree...T/Os can help make the worst D much more successful. Unfortunately teams also run the ball with success on the Packers and those are safer plays than passes...so fewer turnovers.

There is talent on the Defense that would be even more so with Alexander and Stokes. But the soft run D will continue to give up first downs, red zone trips and scoring opportunities.

I just want to see them beat the Giants. NY is not a good football team but the will be playing their “super bowl “ on MNF.
Last year the Packers kick started the Giants season by giving up a game that at one point were in total control of. The season went right down the crapper after that . They let a very average Daniel Jones look like Joe Montana.
Crush the Giants, as they should on MNF and show us you can not only beat the better teams( Det./KC) but you can avoid the emotional let downs of playing a team that isn’t very good.
This game should not be close, but the Giants have a way of beating the Packers on occasion and ruining their season. Don’t let it happen again.

Cory, 10 wins may be possible but I sure as heck hope the Packers are looking no farther ahead than the Giants. If ever there was a time to adhere to the old adage "one game at a time", this is it.

The Giants have won 2 in a row. They are coming off a bye week. They're playing at home on MNF. The Packers need to forget they just beat the Lions and Chiefs, and throw away the press clippings from all the "experts" that are jumping on the bandwagon of hype.

They need to be laser focused on the Giants and the Giants only, because this game has let-down written all over it. Hopefully MLF makes this a point of emphasis all week. All gas..no brake. GPG!!

At this point, I’d be very happy ending up at 9-8. We are underestimating teams with losing records. There is great parity in the NFL, especially amongst the middle and lower tier teams. Just like we beat KC, Carolina could beat us. All it takes is one big loss and this young team could lose the high level of confidence they are playing with. Nothing is a given and everything takes great effort week in and week out. Anyways, give me 9 wins and a wild card position and I’m a happy camper.

I do understand the angst of a let down against the Giants, but I feel differently about this team. They seem to be highly energized and focused on one step at a time.
Some disagree, but imo, Love looks like a different QB.
LaFleur looks like a different coach—no arm flapping/cheerleading.
Barry needs to go, but somehow this defense makes it difficult to score nor than 20.

The Packers absolutely need to keep their edge of physical effort and mental focus.
As the record shows, I stayed with Jordan Love and this team during the doldrums of October; now that they have exceeded my wildest expectations over the last two games, I want to urge them to maintain their discipline on and off the field, and to keep the energy going.
We can win all of the rest of our games, but we also can lose any of them, even all of them.
***
The difference between winning and losing in the NFL, especially for young and unproven teams, is paper thin.
If the Packers play hard and smart in each game to the very end, and through the last game of the regular season -- as we saw so dramatically against the Chiefs, things tend to go down to the last second in the NFL -- I'm hopeful for three or more wins, and quite possibly a trip to the playoffs.
As Bart Starr used to say, life is not a matter of destiny but of determination.
This could be an especially exciting, even epic, season; but it's up to our players and coaches to continue to write their own script with individual contributions and team coordination.

Perhaps what our young players need right now is not so much to do anything all that different, but to keep on doing what they've already been doing, with continuing energy and focus.
I'm sensing that we the fans, including those of us who are oldsters, love these emerging young Packers, and would just caution them to not get distracted and to not let up.

Like others have posted - I would be happy with a 9-8 record. Now we fully gave away a few games early in the season. But we also could have just as easily - and some people probably ( ie like the no call on PI) should have lost or at least gone to OT. But as I posted earlier - many games come down to a bad call or a bad mistake or a dropped pass. It is what it is as BF used to say. However I was very critical of Lafleur - for not being the genius play caller and offensive mind for NOT using any motion early in the season. Our O line cannot stand up to the big rush when there is no motion and he stands there in the pocket. Well what they ( Chris /Tirico) were saying last game is that the motion moves the other teams defensive guys. Love also can run and is accurate throwing while running. So I am happy and hope that it continues and hope that Watson is not the constant injured guy. If those things happen a 3-2 record over the last 5 games should be a minimum. I am still not happy with the defense - especially run defense and I feel lucky that we managed only to give up field goals on those KC drives. Other teams without a red zone issue might eat us up. In any case Go Pack - the Packer way of developing QB's seems to be working as all one needs to do is look at the other teams picking high and throwing guys in. The Bears have had Trubisky and Fields and look at the Jets and Carolina - etc - high draft picks dont necessarily lead to long term development.

Have a Chiefs fan who works for me, and he asked: "Why do they move on from what's working to something else?" complaining about the Chiefs' coaching. Same thing we always complained about when we couldn't get A. Jones enough touches.

What would have happened Sunday if the Chiefs would have just kept running the ball in the red zone instead of trying to pass? What happened against Atlanta and Pittsburg? The Packers D did get a nice goal line stop against the run on the 2-point conversion, I'll give them that.

It helps if you don't get your line pushed 2 yards into the endzone. For that matter it's been helpful that the O-line hasn't been pushed back to where the handoff is taking place during a running play.

Are we playing more aggressive? Mean and nasty?

I really think that the NFL needs to ban the pushing from behind thingy - Why are we not putting Caleb and perhaps our 2 biggest D lineman in as half backs and push Love in from the 5. IT is getting ridiculous and the D needs to learn to chop these pushers down or go over the top and try and hit them high to stop this. Are we playing football, Australian Rules or Rugby????

Canada,
GB can go 11-6 even if #9 is out for the season. At first I was hoping it was just a cramp. As he lay there it did not look like a cramping hamstring to me. Hopefully he's ok but I expect it's a recurrence of his previous hamstring injuries. His contribution is noteworthy even if he's done for the season.

There are 7 other VERY competent WRs in the room, Jayden Reed has almost identical speed and is open more often than anybody else, and Bo Melton is (on paper) even faster than #9.

Hopefully Kraft gets targeted at least as much as Musgrave ever was, and JL10 becomes consistent at making the easy layups. #28 has been catching everything thrown to him, and very effective YAC too. He knocked at least 2 KC players out of the game for being stupid enough to try to tackle him. We need some nasty, especially late season. Which is NOW.

LVN is a hockey player and a skier, I think he might do well in cold weather games.

MLF needs to give just as much attention to creating a winning scheme against the Giants as he did for KC.

As much positive as I am for the Packers (how could it be different?!), please do not pump the baloon guys! We did great being underdogs. Packers needed to prove something, to establish themselves on the field. Saying that 10 win season is a reality is exaggregation. So far it is 6 win season. Don't count on other teams giving us anything for free - division rivals won't lay on the field for us, nor others. Giants' offense may be pathetic all season long, but you never know what will happen the next Sunday. Panthers may be the worst team in the NFL, but they are also pros and they got contratcs for a reason.

Last 3 weeks 90% of football world counted us out just because on paper we looked worse than our opponents. Don't be the same just because our next rivals currently look worse that the Pack. Anything can happen, we must win in on the field!
