Cory's Corner: Comparing Jordan Love to Aaron Rodgers Isn't Fair

Romeo Doubs' quote may do more harm than good.

Even if you truly believe it, you don’t say it.

There’s really no need.

Of course, I’m talking about the quote heard around 1265 Lombardi Ave.

“I think Jordan is a really good quarterback,” said Romeo Doubs recently. “When you go from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan, Aaron was a really great quarterback, but I believe Jordan can do the same exact thing. So,  I don’t really see what’s the big difference.”

OK. First of all, I love the confidence from Doubs here. The Packers wideout is entering his second season as a pro and he’s comparing a first ballot Hall of Famer to a guy that has only started one game in three years.

However, there is a slippery slope to that quote. The temperature in Green Bay’s quarterback sauna just got turned up to 150 degrees. Jordan Love, the unassuming quarterback that is currently the most polarizing figure on this team, is now being compared to the guy that many people never wanted to be traded in the first place.

I would imagine that as soon as Love read and heard that quote, he probably took a deep breath  and said, “Oh boy.” He didn’t ask for any of this. He didn’t ask the Packers to trade up for him, he didn’t ask to have a front seat for the Rodgers-Packers drama and he didn’t ask to sit three years before finally getting a chance to consistently start.

So now there’s this. And now Love is going to have a larger target on him when training camp opens at the end of July.

Is Love ready for this? Ready or not, we are about to find out. And even if he isn’t ready for what’s about to come, I think he will surprise us.

I’m not saying that Love is going to sling it like No. 12, but there are probably only a handful of people all-time that can. What Love can do is bring back the fun to this offense. Make the Packers unpredictable again and force defenses to guess.

That’s what Love needs to focus on. It’s great that Doubs thinks that highly of Love, but it doesn’t really mean much right now. We still don’t know how Love is going to deal with sack-hungry defensive ends, third-and-longs and if he will be durable enough to make it through the season.

Doubs just intensified all that stuff with one quote.

Oh, please, JL is "...currently the most polarizing figure on this team". Polorazing?!!
"So now there’s this. And now Love is going to have a larger target on him when training camp opens at the end of July." Off of one quote? I doubt Love would feel any extra pressure over one of his receivers paying him a complement about his throwing ability. Off season article for sure.

Totally agree Doctor. One quote is not going to tip the scales on anything. By this point, MOST athletes are wired to handle comments from coaches, players, fans and the media. There are a few that haven’t like Antonio Brown, Ryan Leaf, etc. or some during the heat of the moment. I’m looking at you Richard Sherman.

Love appears to have a good balanced temperament during interviews which will help him through the transition.
Doub’s comment was positive which is good and something that leaders do when seeing something that they like or when something is heading in the right direction. I don’t think Doub’s was trying to even slightly compare Love to Rodgers.

Yes, the Doubs comment is a nice, supportive statement about his new QB1. I don’t see any issue with it and I doubt Jordan Love is impacted by it all.

Exactly SoCaljim.....

What's the problem, a wr expressed confidence in his QB, and some are concerned it puts too much pressure on Love?

Golly Gee Beaver.....what was Doubs thinking? (sarcasm)

If you are not ready for the big stage which is the NFL in your 4th season, you might never be ready.
Sorry

Can we stop treating Love like he's a 12 year old?
This is the NFL, this is where men play, this is where alpha males live.

Lets take off the kid gloves and see what this man has to offer the Green Bay Packers.

How Jordan Love deals with a teammate's hyperbole is pretty far down the list of mental challenges he's going to have to confront and reconcile as he attempts to justify his ascension to QB1.

I'm more interested in seeing his reactions and his makeup on the field when they're a score down with the ball and two minutes, after he throws his first pick 6, or, heaven forbid, a receiver runs a wrong route.

Some may not like this, but the more intelligent fans probably will.
Brought to you by TVOR.

As i was listening to ‘The Game’ hosted by John Kuhns, the talk was about the expectations for 4th year QB Jordan Love.

Some want to give him a full pass (no expectations).

Did anyone give Patrick Mahomes a pass his 2nd season (first year starting).
I’m not sure, but he threw for over 5,000 yards with 50 TD’s and 12 picks.

How about Justin Herbert in his rookie season (the covid season no less)
He threw for over 4,000 yards with 31 TD’s and 10 picks.

Closer to home…..
Also in his 4th season (1st year starting), Rodgers threw for over 4,000 yards with 28 TD’s and 13 picks.
Doing this while being booed at home games by half the Packer fans after the Farve drama.

Conclusion: Love’s performance should be benchmarked against Rodgers, no doubt.
They were both selected about the same time in the draft, both sat 3 seasons, both learned from a HOF QB.

Expectations?
Give him a pass? For fargin what?
Talk about having no expectations, how telling is that?

Give him a pass? A traded up first round pick in his 4th season when we had a need for a receiver at the time (and still)?
Get ...... real!!
Hell, why don’t we give him a 5 year pass, maybe he’s a ‘late bloomer’ (cough)

Give him a pass?
Didn’t any of those people watch Love in the Eagles game?

Fairly or not, Gute's career will be judged on Loves performance, it's a good thing for Gute that Murphy gave him an extension.
In my opinion.

I honestly don't believe it paints a bigger target on Love or even increases expectations. I mean common...A 2nd year 4th round WR who's played in 12 games talking out his ass?

At the end of the day it's awesome Doubs is confident in his new QB, but IMO it doesn't add a bit of added pressure to Love. Matter of fact, I thought of it as more of a dig at Rodgers than anything.

Like it or not AR12 WASN'T there for his rookie WRs last season in OTAs or voluntary workouts. Rodgers wasn't there until he HAD to be there, even after they gave him $153 million reasons why. Hell, Rodgers did NOTHING for these guys last season. At least nothing extra...Not even a smidgen of extra!

I don't know about you, but after getting an extension like that, you'd at least think Rodgers would have showed up for that...Just like he did in NY this spring.

There was a LOT beyond the actual throwing of a football that was rightfully expected from AR.

One player on a team of 53 does not get the chunk of money he got for just showing up the absolute minimum and DOING the absolute minimum. ...and hiding behind the CBA to do so. What a coward.

Believe me when I say I am over AR and all of his nonsense, but there is still a horrible aftertaste from the past 5-7 years of his shenanigans. I hope my fandom for the GBP hasn't been permanently stained. I am sooo glad that guy is no longer wearing the uniform of my favorite team.

You guys should all have a good cry sitting around a campfire pissing on Rodgers memories.

There was obvious conflict with Rodgers and the Packers upper management.

There is more than meets the eye.
Have a problem with Rodgers, cool.
So do i in some aspects.
I think the Packers and Rodgers were both wrong at various times.

I didn't like a lot of things Favre did either.

But will i sit around and constantly cry about it?
F NO!!

Why?....Because i'm too busy enjoying the fact we had 30 years straight of HOF QB's

It's a little hard to argue when a guys doesn't attend voluntary team activities and then shows up and gets to 13 wins and wins an MVP. Kinda suggests OTAs didn't really need to be that high on the list of priorities.

Shenanigans got GB 3 seasons in a row of 13 wins. Not too many teams in the entire league pulled that off. You can complain about the postseason not elevating, but its not like he had any friggin help from the defense.

Just to update - Rodgers actually hasn't showed-up fully in NY this spring. Early in May he announced that he wasn't going to participate in all of the OTAs. This declaration was not well-received by some. So Rodgers experienced a "calf strain" - which required him to miss a part of the OTAs. Thus keeping his streak of missing OTAs intact. This is dedication.

It is not only fair, it is an absolute fact of reality. Rodgers had a 95 qb rating his first year as a starter. So we knew that their poor record that year was not 'on him'.
This is the big boy league. You either are or you aren't a good or bad player. Everyone is compared with everyone.
The chances of Love being the Packers third straight Hall of Famer are astronomically low.
If he is not up to that standard then the whole Packer organization is in trouble until they find their next one.
That's how things work in the big boy league.

Huh? So friend, are you saying Love needs to be a HOF caliber QB for GB otherwise this organization is in trouble? Or the ONLY way for the Packers to be successful is the QB needs to be a HOF type player? Or is it Love needs to have a QB rating of at least 95 so it's not "On him"?

Love will be just fine. Hell, we already know that HUGE ass patch of grass in-between the hash marks known as the middle of the field will actually be used again...FINALLY. Jordan Love will never be Aaron Rodgers and frankly he doesn't have to be. He just needs to be a the QB of a team with 52 OTHER players and use then all...Something Rodgers had a hard time grasping in his later years.

Nick, I love this, and all of it is very well said.

I hope Jordan Love will NEVER be Aaron Rodgers. I firmly believe Love will be far and away better, in every aspect of the game.

The character Love brings to the QB1 position as an extension of HC Matt LaFleur is already light years better than that of his predecessor.

Okay, I love the love for Love. But to try to elevate him above one of the best players to ever play the game, one of only two players to ever win 4 MVP awards? A guy who gave us a QB record of 150-79-1 and relevant football in December every season bar an injury year?

Far and away better than Rodgers in EVERY ASPECT of the game? Now you're getting beyond ridiculous. Mahomes may be better than Rodgers, or at least at his par, but he is no way "far and away better at every aspect of the game" than Rodgers. So you're saying Love is going to be better than Mahomes. Based on what?

Who's to say Love won't turn out to 1) be a dud, afraid of the pressure, or 2) a talented guy who ends up being a diva? We have no way at all of knowing what Jordan Love's future is in the NFL, just like there was no way to know Favre's or Rodgers' until their career developed. Slow your roll. Support for Love is great, but don't let your blind hatred for the newly departed hall of famer who gave us 15 years of exciting and relevant GBP games, make you lose all perspective.

Hey, my friend, please don't categorize my current feelings about Rodgers as "blind hatred." I loved watching Rodgers play through much of his career, and have spelled out my own feelings on how I felt his actions after Jordy Nelson was let go became more about him over what I felt was best for the team. That's all.

No one player is more important than the team.

And, yeah, I clearly have stated I'm very confident that Jordan Love will turn out to be the better of the two players. Of course it is early, but, those are my own feelings on the subject, and I have that level of confidence in him.

The last 5 years of Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay were not exciting to me. More painful, quite frankly, and I thought all that extraneous stuff was not only unnecessary, but hurtful to the team overall.

I didn't think we were relevant in 2021, and even lesser so in 2022. His last two MVP's I feel he acquired by gaming the system. We can agree to disagree on all of this, no worries, but I wanted to address your points and make myself clear.

Being disappointed in a player's actions/performance and hating a player are two different things.

Okay thanks for the explanation. I don't give a crap about any extraneous stuff as long as I can watch the Packers stay in games and compete. I've been around since the Bart Starr days and know how rare of a player Rodgers is. It pushes all kinds of buttons for me when fans suggest otherwise based on extraneous stuff being irritating to them.

Rodgers did not elevate his game in the post season the last few years, but then neither did the rest of the squad, and the defense has let the team down in so many, many ways. I don't mind fair criticism of Rodgers; there's a place for that.

And we disagree on relevant. Winning the division is relevant. I lived through years of not being relevant enough for that, and we could be in for that again. We don't know. I know Rodgers kept GB relevant in that games mattered through the entire season.

I think greengold and I appreciate Rodgers for what he did in GB. That 2010 season, games against Chicago, the playoff game we actually lost...twice to the Cardinals, the first in 2009 when in OT the Cardinals defender was doing pullups on Rodgers facemask and in 2015, the "Jeff Janis Game" where he actually made Janis LOOK GOOD, and the hundreds of others before and after those games...The man was one of the greatest ... EVER.

I'm a Green Bay Packers fan! I love the Green Bay Packers, not Aaron Rodgers, Reggie White, or Charles Woodson for example. This organization has always been bigger than one player. I don't care how good you are or think you are, you're are never bigger than the Green Bay Packers which is what Rodgers THOUGHT he had become IMO.

Just these last 5 years or so of Rodgers have been SO annoying. Had he delivered a Championship it would have been more tolerable. He didn't so it made it that much worse. I 5 years I'll cheer wildly when he comes back to Lambeau or goes in the HOF. Until then he's a once Packers great who became a total douche who manipulates the truth, throws coaches and teammates under the bus, and IMO and it's MY opinion, got a little weird.

Odds of Love being a 3rd consecutive HOF QB for the Packers is unlikely. But .0001 astronomically low? Put me down for $100, oceanstrength. (And yes...I would collect $1,000,000 from you when Jordan puts on his Canton blazer).

The odds of any individual QB prospect turning into a HoF player are astronomically low. That chance is, however, completely unaffected by the identity of his predecessor. The chances of any 40 year old QB playing at a HoF level do not appear significantly better either. This statistical argument is fatuous.

Yeah, I think a broken thumb may have affected him, along with multiple injuries.
WRs who missed time with injuries:
Watson
Watkins
Lazard
Doubs
Cobb

And a TE that didn't seem able to run. Yeah it was the first year in some time we didn't see Rodgers do some kind of magic to overcome roster weaknesses and push GB into the playoffs. Probably some decline, but many around the league think Rodgers has another career year in him, similar to Favre's amazing season in MN at age 40. Rodger's body has not had near the damage done to it as Favre's did, both with injury and with nutrition/drinking, etc. Rodgers might have a career year or he might rapidly decline. That will be the fun thing to find out.

So only teams with HOF QBs are not in trouble? That's a ridiculous statement. The playoffs are loaded with teams with QBs that aren't getting anywhere close to having a bust in Canton. Even as far as Super Bowls, Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson both have as many rings as Favre and Rodgers. Neither Dilfer are Johnson ever got a single vote for the HOF. QBs who are only good or very good (not HOF level) win a ton of games every year (and go to the playoffs) in "the big boy league" depending on talent level of the team that surrounds them.

Cory, Cory, Cory…

Jordan Love is ready, and Love could very well wind up being better than both Favre and Rodgers.

Doubs had that level of confidence in Love to make that statement, and I don’t think he was speaking for himself on that. He’s not alone.

Hell, Rodgers knew it!

Here I thought “the one quote,” was going to be that one where Doubs said Aaron Rodgers never said one word to him… ever.

Jordan Love isn’t made of glass. He’s tough. He’s competitive. He’s ready.

Bingo GG!

If Love allows Doubs comment to ratchet up the pressure on him, he is not NFL QB material. And I don't believe that for a minute. Love's demeanor has been cool, calm and collected his entire time with the Packers despite the Aaron Rodgers situation. There are still many questions to be answered by Love, but his mental makeup appears to be strong and he will take Doub's comment in stride.

Great point, Guam! Love exudes a quiet confidence about him that rivals both Favre & Rodgers.

It’s all left to be proven on the field of play, but his demeanor and “mental makeup,” appear to be light years ahead of the other two players.

Add in Love having lost his father at a young age, and it’s plain to see his maturity, level of respect and common courtesies displayed are far and away more desirable characteristics to have not only in a teammate, but in your QB1. THE extension of the HC on the field.

All the nuanced qualities we haven’t seen at the position since Bart Starr. That’s no joke, and something to hold in high regard.

Bart Starr is a high bar, indeed. But, where the subject turns to the character of a man, I think it is pretty easy to see that Jordan Love stands alone in that category compared to Favre & Rodgers, and the Starr mention was just that, as I have always believed Bart Starr to be the standard bearer in this regard.

Pretty easy to say with conviction that Jordan Love more closely exudes that quality of character more so than either of those predecessors.

It's not Kool-Aid, my brother, but numbers...

The notion is not as far fetched as some might think, and I don't begrudge you for your take. Not one bit. But, Jordan Love was superior to Favre & Rodgers the day each walked through the doorway for the first time at 1265 Lombardi Avenue if you compare each player's best college season:

11 G, 178 Comp, 319 Att, 55.8 Comp%, 2271 yds, 7.1 Y/A, 16 TD, 5 INT Rate 129.0

12 G, 209 Comp, 316 Att, 66.1 Comp%, 2566 yds, 8.1 Y/A, 24 TD, 8 INT Rate 154.3

13 G, 267 Comp, 417 Att, 64.0 Comp%, 3567 yds, 9.4 Y/A, 32 TD, 6 INT Rate 158.3

Who had the best college season of those 3 QBs upon being brought into Green Bay via draft or trade?

Favre, Rodgers, Love, respectively. So, what are we talking about here? Of course, I'm making a prediction, but, it's not without some numbers to back it up, and the qualities of each individual carefully considered.

Soon, the rubber will meet the road, and we'll all see what we've got here at QB1 FOR REALS with Jordan Love under Center. I believe in him, and I think Love will be better than both of those knuckleheads. This is a hill I'm willing to die on.

How a QB played in college is some predictor of his NFL success, but yearly QB draft duds show us it is NOT the only predictor. College ain't the NFL and no one knows how a player will do in the big league until he faces that level of competition.

Seriously, give me a freaking break with this crap, WCPB.

All I am saying is he walked in with the better set of stats than the other two, and that he belongs. He's not out of place as some might be inclined to say.

I can have my opinions about where I think his career will go, and was VERY CLEAR this all needs to play out... You apparently have a problem with that?

Big deal. I know you're a huge Rodgers fan. You're entitled to your opinion.

So we're just supposed to ignore his last year in college? I know all the changes that went on but he still threw a large number of interceptions. Even last preseason he's was often not a technically sound QB. Some of his short throws were positively God awful.

You believe what you want to believe, just don't get mad when I accuse you of being high.

I had the same thought, though I consciously decided not to re-plow that furrow. Since it has come up again, however, all I can say is that there is something wrong in a professional sports franchise when a veteran QB doesn’t insist on talking frequently and at length to a rookie starting receiver.

That wrong, if real, doesn’t just end with Rodgers though, but in the coaching and leadership generally. Culturally, that’s just evidence of dystopian failings of which, if that exists, it won’t be the only one. Acceptance is facilitation in such behavior.

If that truly was how GB had been functioning then LaFleur and Murphy are primarily to blame for allowing that to perpetuate. In reality, that would suggest they’d lost all control over Rodgers or abdicated it. Either way, no competently run organization would have allowed that type of self-defeating dysfunction to continue. Perhaps that’s indicative of the reason for the U turn on that extension.

You mean with that 2020 NFCCG, or 2021 DRG or that last game vs Lions? I'm sure Jordan will be better in those situations than ACR was, at least in his late years with Packers.

Dont forget the 2009 Playoff when he had the ball in his hands in OT with a chance to win and overthrew a wide open Greg Jennings on a would-be gw td then crapped his pants and fumbled the game away on the next play. Or 2014, when the defense forced 5 turnovers and he had multiple drives late in the game to drain the clock with a couple first downs but went 3 n out multiple times. His winning time disappearing acts didnt start recently.

Rodgers was not very good last year, so that’s reasonable. Rodgers was not good in 2008 when the game was on the line, throwing for a 54% completion rate and more interceptions than TDs in the 4th quarter of the ten losses. That too might be a reasonable prediction in year one. Surprisingly rational take SH.

I don’t think Doubs’ comment will have any affect on Packer fans who have any degree of perspective.

Maybe all he’s saying is that Love’s abilities to move around and sling the pigskin are as good or better than the 39 year old version of 12, and it’s hard to imagine he’s wrong regarding those skills.

He’s obviously confident in Love, and that is great!

When Paul Pressey first practiced with the Bucks, he said they could win all 82 games. He was young, he lacked perspective and experience, but the takeaway was that he thought the team looked really good. I see this comment from Doubs in much the same way.

Doubs: "When you go from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan, Aaron was a really great quarterback, but I believe Jordan can do the same exact thing. So, I don’t really see what’s the big difference.”

What was Doubs frame of reference with Rodgers here? Last season. 8-9 record. Average QB play. Playoffs on the line and Rodgers laid another egg in another must win game. Yeah...Love should be able to do that! And based on Doubs one year of experience, he believes Jordan can probably do better than the QB play in 2022.

Romeo was not was saying is Jordan Love is a HOF lock. What's he supposed to say about his QB? "Rodgers is gone and we have a huge hole at QB to fill. Hope we can win a game or two."

Cory, hand on the thermometer in the QB sauna: "And now Love is going to have a larger target on him when training camp opens at the end of July."

More hyperbole: "Jordan Love, the unassuming quarterback that is currently the most polarizing figure on this team..."

Correction sir, that polarizing figure has left the building. Dragging his grudges to New Jersey.

LP, I have read all of the comments before your comment and if I did not see this part of your comment, I was going to bring it up.

When I read Doubs comment comparing Love to Rodgers, I took it that he was comparing what Love should be able to do this coming season to what Rodgers did this past season. I could buy that argument. I really do not believe Doubs quote was to compare Love this coming season to Rodgers HOF career. That is a bit silly.

Anyway, I am glad you commented this way as it is my feeling as well. Thanks LP.

As few pointed out Romeo Doubs practices almost only with Jordan Love from his entering NFL.

We know, from one source that ACR was not practicing much with youngsters (especially not with rookies), and he did not even talk with some of them, not even one word.

So, what was the exposure of Doubs to ACR? Only in games reps, on very small number. Because, Alen Lazard and Randall Cobb taking the reps from him, forcing them by ACR. He learned how looks like to be in the ACR dog house and on short leash.

Watching ACR playing last season from side or from games he might be correct. Jordan Love can not be worse than ACR last season. And Doubs is sure that he will knows all plays called by Jordan Love contrary to play calls coming of the mouth of ACR before snap, which were (reported on that issue) from Mike McCarthy play book years ago before last years rookies was at Packers roster.

Jordan Love said that he learned a lot from sitting behind ACR. I hope he will avoid predictability of ACR snap counts, staring at the player he wanted to throw the ball, avoiding middle of the field at cost of losing down (throwing the ball away), starring at the player(s) if the player did not catch his throw and his the most popular "throwing under the bus" his team mates and coaches publicly.

What the season score will be, I do not know, but I'm staying with my prediction - from 6, 7 to 10, 11 all the way to 11, 10 to 6, 7. But that score will not be only on Jordan Love. It will be, as always TEAM SCORE.

As the last remark on your article, Cory, I want to point out that there is no larger pressure on anybody than pressure which is come from inside the person.

"Comparing Jordan Love to Aaron Rodgers Isn't Fair"

Comparing a 15 year veteran to a player that has 1 official start under his belt simply can't be compared. You have someone who has literally seen everything possible, compared to a guy that is just getting his feet wet. But there are things we can compare. We can compare Love to Rodgers when he first became the starter. Those are similar situations. Both following a 15 year veteran.

Now lets take what Doubs said..

“I think Jordan is a really good quarterback,” said Romeo Doubs recently. “When you go from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan, Aaron was a really great quarterback, but I believe Jordan can do the same exact thing. So, I don’t really see what’s the big difference.”

Doubs likely spent more time catching balls from Love then he did Rodgers. He has built a rapport with Love, way more then what he built with Rodgers. He came in during a down year for Rodgers. There are reasons why Doubs said what he said. The version of Rodgers that he saw and played with was not the MVP Rodgers. He averaged 217 yards per game last year. By far his lowest in his career. Doubs obviously feels confident that Love can at the very minimum match Rodgers numbers from last year. I get why Doubs said what he said, and I don't see any problems with it.

As I posted on a different thread here at CHTV last evening, I don't believe that the pressure is on Jordan Love for 2023, the pressure is on the OL.

Love's performance will be the direct output of the effectiveness of the Packers OL play. Just like any other QB plays as well as their OL plays in front of them.
If we get people blocked Love will be fine. Yes, he will need time to learn and evolve into the position but solid OL play in front of him can make the his transition much easier and help to "slow the game down" for him.

Starr played behind Lombardi's OL, the best of all time IMO, and became a HOF QB and 5 time NFL champion.
Favre played behind Holmgren's OL and learned the game and became a 3 time MVP, SB winner and HOF QB.
Rodgers played behind the poorest of the great Packer eras OLs and became a 4 time MVP, SB winner and HOF QB.
Love's fate will be determined by the quality of his OL play assuming that Love has what it takes to succeed as an NFL QB. That includes good footwork, strong arm, solid decision making, ability to read defenses and sound ball security.

The issue is we haven't see enough of Love yet to fairly evaluate his abilities and we also don't know enough about the Packers OL, especially the right side, to know how effectively they will play in front of Love.

Therefore before anyone begins comparing Love with Rodgers or Favre or any other QB let's see if Love's OL can keep him vertical while he is still trying to learn the game and adjust to the speed of NFL level play. Let's remember that Love has not played on a weekly basis since his college career ended over 3 years ago. Forget about him being virtually a rookie NFL QB, how would we feel about any QB who was returning to start in the NFL after a 3 year hiatus from playing? Give Love a chance, let him be his own player, the comparisons can will come later. Doubs and other comments are just off season BS, hype and speculation. Thanks, Since '61

Does context not mean anything anymore? Doubs never played with prime Rodgers. He only played with 2022 Rodgers who absolutely stunk. Per Doubs, Rodgers barely even talked to him last year. But he's supposed to drool all over a whiny old veteran who played like crap, threw everyone under the bus, and ignored him all season? I dont see anything wrong with what he said. It aint Doubs job to fawn over muh hall of famer.

"I’m not saying that Love is going to sling it like No. 12, but there are probably only a handful of people all-time that can."

Well Corey, Rodgers didn't have a winning record last year, so I'm not so sure the bar is quite as high as you make it out to be. I can remember Rodgers "slinging it" last year and if my memory is correct I saw more than a few of those "slings" go in the dirt and well over the head of the intended target. Plus, the Packers were dead last in red zone scoring last season and that is where many quarterbacks make their bread and butter.

Love is a young, hungry quarterback with a number of talented football players who will be helping him and the Packers compete. Jordan has all the tools he needs and three years of preparation under his belt to learn the system, the players, and the plays, along with a set of coaches who are helping to improve him every day.

I think you went a little overboard with this article.

Kind of a silly take here Cory. A player expressing extreme confidence in his QB is to be expected. What should he say? Whatever pressure is on Love, its not increased by this comment. HIs pressure will be to justify a new contract and a future with the team and in the league, just like any other young starter.
